NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Not to say Smoot is any slouch at CB, but Smoot is still a #2 CB for now.... He doesnt need to be a #1 now that they have Shawn Springs. I guess trading Champ Bailey for Portis and signing Shawn Springs is good for the Redskins.. Exactly, to me Portis + Springs > Champ Bailey...........As much as I liked Bailey (I have his jersey...) I'd say the Skins are coming out of this looking pretty good right now.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Wait...didn't Baltimore trade their first rounder last draft? So now they've traded their second...It's gonna be a boring draft day for Raven's fans. Not that Owens isn't worth a second round pick. Boller wasn't worth the first though. And even more boring for the poor sap that took them in the mock draft that we are doing. I can just slack off and pick some schmoe for the what, the 85th pick? and about Boller: Boller will end up being worth this years first round pick (which is #21). I doubt there would have been anyone at #21 that would have made as much of an impact as Boller did last year (started and played, uh, well..or well for a Ravens QB). Plus, if the Ravens had a first round pick, the 49ers probably would have wanted that instead of the second round pick they got for Owens. The Ravens normally have very good drafts, but this year is going to be thin with the lack of draft picks. But getting Owens and Boller for this years first and second round picks seems good to me. With the games Boller got in last year, it puts him at an advantage over say, Carson Palmer who will be starting for the Bengals but hadn't started a game yet in the NFL. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Harrison is the best reciever in the league. But he doesn't remind everyone of that every time he opens his mouth... Despite kicking the shit out of female police officers, I'd take Moss over Harrison. PS. Marvin, if you want the Raidahs back ni the mock draft, just say - I'll give them to you. I'm a huge Winfield fan...so I'm happy he got the money...but DAMN. Everyone is being over-paid this year. 1. Brunell (the worst) 2. washington (second worst) How can the 'Skins fathom paying Brunell nearly 7 mil a year? Especially by picking up portis, they should've stuck with Ramsay and saved the money on someone else. Oh well. I think Gibbs is mroe qualified to say than me. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 5, 2004 I'm seeing my Browns corners getting punked by T.O. and it's not a pretty sight. Anthony Henry is 6-1, 205; Daylon McCutcheon is 5-10, 190. Owens is 6-3, 226. Damn.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 The Dolphins REALLY gave up too high a pick for him. I would say third or fourth round should have been the highest they offered cause I doubt the Eagles would have said no I mean, Owens just went to the RAVENS for a second rounder. No chance is Feeley worth as much as Owens unless they are counting the hotness of his girlfriend in the deal. But hey, just another interesting QB trade/signing by the Dolphins. MrRant 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Seahawks sign Winstrom The Seattle Seahawks on Thursday signed defensive end Grant Wistrom to a six-year, $33 million deal, including a $14 million signing bonus, ESPN's John Clayton reports. Including the signing bonus that is the largest in Seahawks history, Wistrom will receive $21 million over the first three years of the contract. Wistrom visited Seattle Wednesday and stayed over Thursday while his agent, Tom Condon of IMG, flew into town to work on the contract. Wistrom, 28, had been with the Rams for six years. St. Louis considered Wistrom a key player to re-sign, but the Rams offered $16.5 million -- slightly less than teammate Leonard Little, who had a $17.5 million, five-year contract. The Seahawks have been looking for a pass-rushing defensive end and lost out in the bidding for Jevon Kearse, who went to Philadelphia. Wistrom had 11 sacks in 2000 and nine sacks in 2001. He had 7½ sacks last year and has 41½ over his six-year career. The 6-4, 272-pound Wistrom was the sixth pick in the 1998 draft.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Interesting article in the Philadelphia Inquirer today. As the Eagles and Owens, had apparently come to an agreement on a new contract, and when Owens went to tell the team they had already traded him to the Ravens. He is not too happy and with his mouth I imagine we will probably start to hear about it.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Terrell Owens is a better blocking reciever than Harrison and Moss, which is important when you want to run the ball to the corner. Owens is a damn good reciever, right in the thick with Harrison and Moss. If anyone has watched the Vikings play, you know Randy doesn't have the surest hands in the league. Marvin is a great receiver, but isn't as great a blocker. Owens has okay hands, is better than both in the open field, and a better blocker.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 They were just saying on WIP that Terrell and his agent may file a grievance. Apparently the comprimise the league had wanted was to have Terrell negotiate a deal and then work a trade with that team. That is how the Eagles went about it, the Ravens just worked out a deal with the Niners first.

Not if he turns into the next Jake Delhomme (sp?). He showed some promise when he played for the Eagles, so they took a shot. We'll see what happens. If one of the stud QB's is still on the board when the Dolphins pick, hopefully they snatch him up in case Feeley doesn't pan out.

Fökai 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Wow, my Niners got rid of Owens just for a second-round pick? That has to be the worst trade ever. Considering two weeks ago, they were getting NOTHING in return for his departure... John Clayton's thoughts on this... Owens deal lucky for all The reason Terrell Owens went to the Ravens is because they were the only team to step up and offer a solid draft choice. The Eagles wanted to talk about some backup players and a low draft choice. The Jets were hot and cold about making an offer. The Browns made mention of wide receiver Dennis Northcutt, but never came as close as the Ravens did when they offered a second-rounder, the 51st choice in the draft. 49ers general manager Terry Donahue wanted to make a fast deal. As much as he would have loved to get a No. 1 choice, he pretty much knew that wouldn't be in the cards. This is a great draft for first-round wide receivers. Plus, the team that acquired Owens would have to assume the remaining three years and $17 million of his contract. Owens is going to want a new contract with a big signing bonus. That put him on the market at a discount. The 49ers were happy just to get the second-round choice from Baltimore.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Jeff Garcia is visiting the Browns today. That could be a really good deal for the Browns if they can ditch Couch and his 8 million a season contract. So, would Garcia and Kelly rotate like they did with him and Couch last year? You would think the Cards would make a run at him to start while they wait for the rookie Eli to grow. Plus if Garcia excels they could easily trade him the next season for a late second early third.

I think Garcia wouldn't be taken out as long as he does well. As long as the line can hold up even slightly he should be able to have a huge season with Davis/Morgan/Northcutt/White. The key to anyone's success is probably going to be if Lee Suggs plays like he did during the last 2 games of the season.
