JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 Stole this from the rohwrestling.com forums... -------------- 'Anti-piracy' Video Distributor Accused of Soliciting Pirated Film Monday, February 9, 2004 A video distributor who assisted the FBI in aggressively pursuing video pirates has now been accused of soliciting bootlegged copies of the new Bernardo Bertolucci film entitled "The Dreamers." Rob Feinstein of the Pennsylvania-based RF Video, posted a message on his website, offering to pay "top dollar" for a copy of the controversial film, which was recently slapped with an NC-17 rating for its strong sexual content. The distributor assisted authorities late last year in sending a Virginia man to prison for bootlegging unauthorized copies of his material. Feinstein himself has sold pirated materials for over a decade.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 RF's response... ------------ I just heard that many websites are claiming that I am in legal trouble reguarding me asking for a copy of a movie called The Dreamers. Let me just say that this is 100% untrue. All I posted was if anyone has a copy of the film I would be interested in seeing it. I never said anything about selling the movie nor was I ever going to. In fact there is something called a screener. I am sure many of you people have heard of that term. Sometimes movies get released before they come out and certain people get them. THESE ARE NOT BOOTLEGS. So when I asked if anyone had a copy I dont know how any moron unless its a idiot in CA interupted that I was going to sell the flick. So just to clear this up once again, I am in 0 legal trouble and this is the first time I have heard about this stupid matter. I never said for anyone to get me a bootleg copy so I can sell. I hope the person who started this stupid rumor goes swimming in shark infested waters with Missy Hyatt while she is having her period. The next time you want to start a rumor about me, make it something good. I can help you out. Rob Feinstein caught in secret meeting with Janet Jackson. Rumor has it that RF was inspecting her nipples and she will be in Boston to expose herself this Saturday at the 2 year anniversary show.
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted February 11, 2004 I don't see why you would post a thread like that, and then 30 seconds later make a second post saying that it's not true. That seems like a collosal waste of space/time.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 1. I saw it a few seconds later. My bad. 2. It still can be discussed.

Kardo 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 Maybe someone should point out to Rob that buying a bootleg t-shirt of Linkin Park = illegal in the same way pirating videos is.

LOL, he tried to use a big word and spelled it wrong. Its interpreted. If thats not right, its a hell of alot closer than interupted.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 I'm just amused at RF taking an anti-piracy stand at all. Don't forget, RFVideo still has TONS of bootlegged ECW, WCW, and WWF footage on hundreds of tapes, which are still for sale on his website. Plus the bootlegs of various foreign horror flicks that he sells also.
Guest Deviant Report post Posted February 11, 2004 Feinstein himself has sold pirated materials for over a decade. I love that last line, and Feinstein not knowing the difference between two big words. The man truly is a genius.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 He has sold lots of pirated stuff in the past, but he has a deal with WWE to sell WCW, WWE, and ECW stuff.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 Oh. I've wondered how he got away with it. But there's still the bootleg foreign films, not to mention the whole Big Japan deal a while back, not to mention selling other people's shoot interviews as his own. Yup, I think the Bret Hart shoot has an episode of Off The Record attatched to it.

Yeah sure, a multimillion dollar company that releases their own professionally produced commercial videos/dvds and airs pay per views is going to cut a deal with some guy to allow him to make copies with some VCRs. Vince's secretary -"Vince, a Mr. Rob Feinstein is here to discuss business matters with you." Vince McMahon - "In regards to what?" "He wants to use footage we own to sell copies of wrestling videos." "We already have a manufacturing company for our videos." "But he claims to have some spiffy video decks in his mom's basement." "Well, by all means lets cut a deal with him!"

Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2004 I don't know the inner workings of the agreement, but RF and WWE worked together to send Mike King to jail. WWE definitely knows about RoH and RFVideo, and even let RF presale their DVDs on his website. My understanding is that there's a working agreement.
IWD 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2004 I know that Vince called Feinstein directly to try and work out a deal for Spanky and Nunzio. Obviously they weren't under a RoH contract, but Vince did go to Feinstein first. On second thoughts... Feinstein told me that himself, so it could be crap.
