Michaels turning heel or becoming tweener?

I was too disgusted to talk about the contract signing (though I will say I don't think HHH buried Benoit in that speech he gave) but still felt the need to post.

What does everyone think? Is Michaels staying a face, going heel or becoming a tweener? The WWE seems to be playing up the fact that HHH and Michaels are in cahoots to at least some degree here. From Jerry Lawler's comments to what the WWE wrote on their website about Raw. So unless the WWE conviently forgets about this plot twist, what do you think's going to happen with Michaels? What do you think the plan is that HHH and Michaels stirred up together in kayfabe land (not political land) to get Benoit? How will everything come together? Thoughts?

What do I think is going to happen?

They'll play up HBK as heel until Mania (such as...HHH helping HBK beat Benoit next week. Write it down). Then at Mania...he'll take out HHH in the end and win the title....and prove he's a face.

Then Benoit will win it from him at Backlash in his hometown...only to drop it to HHH (who will not have had to job to him at all to this point) at a time of his choosing.

They're teasing the 'cahoots' bit to get the fans second guessing, but it ultimately wouldn't work in terms of the match so i'd say that Shawn would be playing the tweener role

I saw Benoit as more of the heel last night. Faces don't go in the back crying "I've got a contract" to the boss, they take what they want like HBK did.

Triple H is the heel, Benoit is the tweener and HBK is the face if you ask me.

Sometimes you can just see the post that's going to take the thread off track right away.

Wait, are you saying that HHH and HBK have staged this whole rivalry for a year and a half now just for kicks? That they have spent all this time just so they could be on TV together and jack each other off and put each other over at the expense of all the other talent?

...It's just not believable.

Benoit's not a heel, he's just a poorly booked face.

It's like, heels don't have losing streaks because that makes them somewhat sympathetic, yet they're doing the same thing with Matt Hardy. Benoit is the face version of Matt Hardy, it's just they put more time in on making him look bad.

Actually no, I'm not trying to start anything. I just saw it this way to me. Doesn't even make me close to being right.

Just gave my opinion, that's all.

That's why I said the "to me", to make it clear I'm not close to being right. Hell, I'm more than likely wrong but it just felt that way in my eyes.

They are going to have the match go on, and have Benoit look like he's just about to win. At the end though, with the ref knocked out, they'll have Evolution come down and all of them will hold Benoit down out on the ramp. As HBK looks on, HHH goes up to him, and out of nowhere both HBK and HHH give Benoit the finger, HBK falls backwards, HHH covers him, and the ref makes the count.

HBK, HHH, and all of Evolution celebrate together over HHH's win, as Benoit is left bloody and beaten out on the ramp crying.

Unless Benoit wins it at Mania it won't mean jack shit. No one is going to care if he wins the title at one of their third-string ppv's just because it's in his hometown.

Backlash is not Wrestlemania. 20 years from now are they going to remember WMXX? Yes. Will they remember Backlack 2004? Hell no.

HBK is playing the tweener because it lets him weasel into the title picture without losing having to officially turn heel.

Naibus has figured out the intention of the end result before it's even unfolded.

The force is strong in this one.

Thank you, my Master *bows*

I'd turn him heel, have him lose the Mania match and come back and challenge. He's a heel in Canada, plus if they brought out Hart (at WMXX), it would make Benoit into this huge Canadanian babyface. But then he'd have to go over HHH clean at WrestleMania, and have HBK looking on, totally jealous, especially seeing his old rival welcomed back and symbolically passing the torch to Benoit.

I think they'll build him as a tweener until WM XX, where Benoit wins the World Title. Then he turns heel after that because he's pissed that Benoit won and not him. He goes 1997 uber-heel mode for a Benoit-Michaels Backlash Main Event.

I still cross my fingers that a similar scenario happens.

Bischoff comes out and cuts a promo on HBK. Talks about how he doesn't necessarily like Benoit, but as GM, he has to do what's right and what's fair. What HBK did was not fair. Does he deserve a title shot? Yes. Will he get it at Wrestlemania? No. He can't. Benoit won that and decided to go for that title. You can't ruin the legacy of Wrestlemania like that, or smudge the honor. HBK can have the title shot the following month, versus the winner at Backlash. "If HHH wins, you gets what you want. If Benoit wins, hey, that will give you motivation to win again, because this man stepped in your path. However, don't think that we'd leave HBK off of the Wrestlemania card. A suitable replacement has been found. A man who thinks that you two should have a match".

Hit The Rock's music, most likely a via satallite promo about having a battle of respect between wrestling's most known "Showstoppers". Gives Rock a quality match without having to him around, fixes the 3-way and builds to a Benoit-HBK in Canada, where they could run him heel if they want just for there, or for fulltime, and give Benoit that first PPV defense win credibility that every new champ needs to solidify.

I'd rather Bischoff not side with Benoit. That would kill a lot of his face heat.

I think bps pretty much hit the nail on the head. I wouldn't be shocked to see HBK walk out of Wrestlemania with the title. It seems as if they have been building up HBK/HHH anyway. All the way back to the Raw match in December. HBK never got his "revenge" for that because the Rumble ended in a draw.

This will be HBK's time (again). Then, as with every year, the Raw after Wrestlemania sets up something big. In this case, one of the things will probably be an HBK heel turn, or some shit like that.

Sets up Benoit Vs. HBK in Canada.

Triple H gets to remain looking damn near unbeatable.

face Benot vs heel HBK in Edmonton means MONSTER business so obviously you know where they are going with this angle.

Here is a possible scenario that I was thinking about. What if they did build up HBK to be a heel/tweener up until Wrestlemania. They have it come down to the final minutes of the match, where Benoit is about finished as HHH and HBK working together. They before you know it, HBK turns on HHH and superkicks him right in the middle of the ring as Benoit is getting up. HBK and Benoit go face to face as HBK is mentioning something to him. It then is apparent that HBK has had a change of heart and he realizes that he would get the best of HHH even more if he helped Benoit win the match. Benoit wins the title, and this sets up Michaels/Benoit for Backlash in a "I respect you and I will give you the first defense at Backlash" title match.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT think this is a good idea, but unfortunately I could see them doing this.

Michaels is a tweener ... he'll be a face at WM (probably even getting more or louder pops than Benoit) but he'll be a heel at Backlash. My guess is the same as a few other people's - Michaels wins at WM (probably over HHH) and then faces Benoit the following month, and Benoit finally wins the title there.

And for all the people who are saying "Benoit's title reign won't mean shit if it's not at WM" ... many of you are the same ones that have been bitching forever about getting Benoit into the main event scene, and now that it's happening it's still not good enough. If someone had told you a year ago that your God would be winning the belt in his hometown, the collective masturbation session would have been audible for miles. But now that it might come to fruition, it's not good enough. Bunch of masochists.
