Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2004 Can we at least get back tons of fatalities? That was my favorite thing growing up. Since we didn't have the internet and the Fatalities were like big secrets that were printed only in gaming magazines......but I was a little kid with no money. So how did I get fatalities? I would rip them out of magazines at stores. Ah.......memories.
cbacon 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2004 Technicallly, they should all be dead. What with the fatalities and all
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted February 17, 2004 Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Baraka's Back! My favorite Mortal Kombat character is coming back. I was so mad when I rented Deadly Alliance and he wasn't in there. Question about Deadly Alliance, why does Johny Cage yell in Chinese when he's American? Anya 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 He's bilangual.
Guest EQ Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Yeah, they should bring back the multiple fatalities. Fuck it, bring back friendships, mercy, babalities, all that shit just for nostalgia.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Holy fuck, that image made me jump. I remember Baraka being the fucking man in MKII. He had one of the coolest fatalities ever, where he would impale the opponent on his blades, hold them up and let them sliiiide down the blades. That and Kung Lao's vertical slice are my favorite fatalities ever. I've always thought the fatalities should be location-based, a la Eternal Champions. Or the animation should change with distance. Let's say you do Sonya's Kiss of Death. From half screen it's normal, but when done from full screen distance(and using a longer button combination) she follows it up with a single gunshot... BOOM! Oh, and in this new game, I'd like to FOR ONCE be able to use Goro as a normal character.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 That image will give me nightmares. Can someone post an image from MKII ... I seriously can't remember that guy. I think it was because I played MK3 WAYYYYYYY too too too much.
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Goro was normally selectable in most versions of MK Trilogy. Goro is dead too.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 ah...there we go. I remember that guy. He was pretty badass. (I was always more of a Sub Zero fan)
Guest EQ Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Same here... Sub-Zero mark.
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Sub-Zero, Cyrax, Sektor, Kabal & Stryker are my favorites. As far as Sub goes, I really like the unmasked MK3/UMK3/MKT version.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 You actually liked KABAL? If he wasn't the biggest fucking misfit I've ever seen in my life, I don't know what is. He had some awesome combos though, I'll give you that.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Stryker was a little bitch. He had a gun for crying out loud. I can understand it not killing some of the otherworldlys...but a few bullets into Sonya, Johnny, or Jax should have put them down.
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 Stryker's gun attack is so much fun to use in juggles.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 When Sheeva came in Kahn stabbed her in the back with a sword. This all happened near the end of MK3, during Kahn's invasion of Earth, but wasn't actually revealed until MKDA. In other words, they didn't write it in yet. Did it seem to anyone else that they didn't really like Sheeva? They kill her off, cut her from the 16-bit UMK3 games (memory limitations I know), don't bother bringing her back, and they let her be put in Annihilation. Anya 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2004 The fact that they killed her off shows they care about her a lot more than many other characters. People like Smoke, Nightwolf and Tanya have just been dropped from the series without any explination but she was actually written off(and with a fairly noble death too, she got to kill off a boss!). Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I still haven't gotten the answer to my question! Will there be 200 fatalities per character with insanely hard combinations that I have to steal from game magazines!?
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Probably. The only reason they weren't in DA was time constraints. If they're really using the same engine they should have time to put in a bunch of fatals.

Anya 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Stage Fatalities were nearly in DA. The Acid Bath stage in DA was created in mind for them. They scrapped the idea at the last minute though. So I would expect them to be in this one. Animalities, Friendships, Babalities, Brutalities and anything else are kind of doubtful. Ed seems to hate them. He always is pretty negative when talking about them and they were out of MK4 and DA.

Excellent......what about Animalities and Babalities and Friendships and Mercy and level Fatalities and whatever the hell else they do? Those are all ghey, except for the stage fatals. Screw the rest. However, I wonder if they're considering insta-kills, early fatalities, etc. After all, they've appeared in some forms in KI, Guilty Gear, and a bunch of lesser-known fighters. If they'd be optional, there certainly is a possibility, I think.
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I don't want to see the others either. Just Fatalities and pits. Actually I was fine with just one Fatal per character. I like KI's Ultimates and Ultras though. It's really satisfiying to do a fatality at the end of a chain combo. Also it's cool how in KI2 you can do a fatality at the end and have them block it. Not counting codes, those are all at the end of a match though. The only games I can think of where you can truely kill them in the middle of a fight are Bloodstorm and Time Killers(I just bought that the other day, btw). Fatalities rule. I really enjoy bad MK clones with overly violent fatalities. Especially when they have really shitty digitized graphics. It's like how people love bad horror movies, but with fighters. I bought Way of the Warrior the other day.

Excellent......what about Animalities and Babalities and Friendships and Mercy and level Fatalities and whatever the hell else they do? The game needs 'Dama-alities' where the victim says one small comment about their opponent, only for them (their opponent) fucking snap, kill them then rape the corpse. Fuck, I'd buy it. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 If there were Dama-alitites......I'd be all over that game using them constantly. They really need a create-a-fighter feature on one of these games(not Fighter Maker) kind of like on wrestling games. Then I could create Damaramu.......and give him all kinds of cool fatalities and power moves.

Time Killers and Bloodstorm--yeah you can kill people early in the fight, but those games suck. In Guilty Gear you can "DESTROY!" them early, however. You should check it out. In the original, you could do it at any time, but they made it a requirement for you to do another move first. Didn't Samurai have early fatalities? I can't say since all the games after II are really hard to find. If they added it to this MK, I'd prefer it be done like Guilty Gear X2. What about super moves? Put them in? As a fan of KI, what is your stance on Brutalities, Sakura? I thought they looked really lousy and were nearly impossible to do normally, so I would rather them not bother at all. I wouldn't want the auto-combos, myself...
Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Since favorite characters was brought up earlier, I wanted to list a few of mine: MK2: Kung Lao Shang Tsung Mileena Anything past MK2: Blind Kenchi Nightwolf I hope to see at least a couple of those listed above. Anya 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 In Guilty Gear you can "DESTROY!" them early, however. You should check it out. I have checked them out. I have the original on PSX, X and X2 on PS2 and X Advance on GBA. Only ones I haven't played are the Japanese only games. I don't really consider them fatalities. Didn't Samurai have early fatalities? I can't say since all the games after II are really hard to find. No, they're all done as the last hit. As a fan of KI, what is your stance on Brutalities, Sakura? I thought they looked really lousy and were nearly impossible to do normally, so I would rather them not bother at all. I think they're horrible. They're like impossibe! I love Ultras though.
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Even though MK:DA was good in some areas, overall, it didn't have the MK vibe, and therefore, I never liked the game. Bring back the oldschool engine!
