How would they manage to stretch high school to 5 years though? Get rid of some of the females and replace them with a chick in leather named Tori?

 

I guess the thing is that because of what we know about Clark Kent, Smallville has a built-in limitation of how long it can go.

They can go past high school easily. I mean, they can still live in Smallville after they graduate, right? Plus, it's already pretty broken away from the normal Superman timeline, so living Metropolis isn't as much of a necessity - though it would be good as far as character development goes.

Yeah, which is why it would be cool to see the series evolve into something like Lois & Clark. Although, they could pull it off seeing as how Metropolis is rediculously close to Smallville on the show. Lana and Pete could stay in the area, Chloe and Clark could go off to Metropolis, and they could still interact. Have Chloe's character replace Lois Lane for the purposes of the show.

 

All this is possible, but unlikely. Personally, if Smallville went 5 or 6 seasons and then had a strong series finale, I'd be happy.

Again, I don't think WB would cancel Smallville after five years for two reasons:

 

1. It's one of the highest rated shows on the station (although...that didn't save Buffy)

 

2. Warner Bros. owns both the network and the Superman character.

I actually read this comparative piece between Buffy and Smallville and when they were comparing characters, Faith was put against Lex.

Actually, you could add a third (and probably most important) reason: Syndication. Isn't the magic number for a drama around 100?

 

Anyways, they can always go the 90210 route with Smallville: The Summer to hit that.

Don't watch enough of Smallville to know that. I just assumed that it was similar to the DCU, where Smallville is in Kansas and Metropolis is Delewareish. Also, it is with the best intentions that they send characters off to college, but often I don't find that it works as well for some reason.

I'm getting into Smallville now.  But as a Buffy fan...I can't get out of my head how bad this show wants to be Buffy.  They may as well call the show "sunnydale" with all the monster of the week episodes that run through the first season (at least).  Instead of the hellmouth...they have Kryptonite.  But both do feature teenagers with incredible power who have to keep their secret from everyone.  They both have two nerdy friends too.  Oh well...if you're going to mimic a show...it's best it be one of my favorites.

Well, I guess it gives them a decent distrubution. If I remember anything about statistics, if you take a random sampling of a set of numbers, the distruibution of the subset will pretty much reflet the distribution of the whole. (but don't quote me on that)

Been nice if the WB had promoted the show every once and a while.

 

ANGEL might be the only show where the promotion for the show was scheduled to run DURING the show.

 

Coming out of the repeats, I didn't even know when the new episode was cause the WB didn't say a damn thing. It just kind of went "HI! BACK!"

 

It's also not good but I do applaud the WB for even AIRING Buffy and ANGEL cause no network would have given the two shows the time of day.

Well, wasn't the WB still a young station when Buffy first started? The network isn't that old, cause I remember the launch of it (remember the Wayans Bros sitcom? I liked that show). Anyway, they were probably looking for shows to put on and they figured young adults would watch Buffy.

Well, he's listed as the sole credit for the movie, so he was likely the last guy to touch it before it went to the director. So really, it's a three sides to a story deal.

 

But in all honesty, saying Alien Resurrection was one of your bigger failures isn't all that bad. It could be a lot worse...
