EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 Also, keep in mind there will be a champions fantasy playoff league, consisting of the league winners. If one person wins two or more leagues, we'll go down the line of the runners up of the H2H league until we fill out the league. It'll be a 5x5 standard rotisserie league. I'll have more details closer to the end of the season.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 It looks like I will enter the playoffs in the 6th place so whoever is the 3rd place team shall be my opponet. Good luck to all.
treble 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 I'm going to be stuck in the consolation bracket, but at least I'll still be playing in something for at least another week.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 I am in 2nd, 3rd, and 8th in the other leagues. But it looks like the White Sux will win 2 leagues.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 I'm probably going to take the best overall player from the other leagues who did not win. In the interest of fairness, it will not be me. If I don't win a league, I will not participate.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 Hmm. The schedule shows me up against the Rebels, but the Playoff brackets have me scheduled against the mysterious El Kabong.

Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 A first round playoff bye secured in the Head-to-Head, not to shabby for a guy who before this started didn't know probably over 95% of the players, let alone how to build a decent Fantasy Baseball team out of them. razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 It looks like the Night Rangers got bounced out of the playoffs went from 3rd place to 7th overnight with the final score of 4-13 lose to White Sux.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 Hmm. The schedule shows me up against the Rebels, but the Playoff brackets have me scheduled against the mysterious El Kabong. It's supposed to 3rd place vs. 6th place and 4th place vs. 5th place so you should be playing Slapnuts and I should be playing the Guapos.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 (edited) BTW, to everyone in the H2H league. Sorry I haven't been around to answer questions and such. Congrats are in order for Chicago White Sux, The Worst Team, Rebels of Oakland, Fear The CHECKLIST~!, EL KABONG~! Slapnuts, and 100% Guapos (wtf?! He made the playoffs?). Hopefully you guys will make it interesting down the stretch. BTW, I can't do anything about waivers during the playoffs. Zip, zilch, nadda. If I had access to every team, I possibly could do so, but otherwise, it is fair game. Also here's the stuff I included for next seasons keeper league: Draft - Will be offline once again, but I should be able to whip up something to aid with our dilemna of not knowing who the hell is still on the field. (Edit: I'll probably whip up a program or something, I am a programmer after all ) Keepers - There will be 4 keepers, you don't get the choice of only taking some. It's all or none. Also split into 2 hitters and 2 pitchers as well. Split so that we don't get someone who keeps either side of their lineups stacked. (Edit: And I need your keepers by the end of the first week of the playoffs.) Innings Pitched - Next season, there will be a higher limit on your team's output for innings pitched. You'll need to amase between 30-60 IP as a team per week (the amount subject to change). Otherwise, you forfeit your stats for that week in pitching. (Edit: I'm leaning more towards about 60) Stats Will Change - Expect stats to be changed as well. I'll be talking with Al about what would be a best choice for stats. As I'm not as baseball savvy as you all (Edit: I think I already know which stats, but I'll talk it over with Al). Roster Change - Three changes to the roster will be happening. Firstly, the bench size will be slashed in HALF, because frankly, it's a waste to have all those players locked up on your roster doing absolutely nothing. Secondly, there will be only be a single UTL position next season. Thirdly, the pitching staff will be 5SPs and 2RPs; there will not be a P position. (Edit: Bench two if you want a number. DL will also be two) As mentioned, all things are still subject to change, but most likely the best way to make the league a better league for everyone. Unless someone finds a need for me not to fix things. (Edit: As we all know, I'm not perfect.) Oh and about the playoffs... Don't look at me, that's how yahoo sets the damn thing up. razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 As the great Woody Paige would say "Look at the Schedule!" the last week I played a dead team and held off 2 teams that were 0.5 and 1 game behind me + the fact that Night Rangers lost to the #1 team. The last 3 weeks were mostly bottom dead teams but I nearly lost it last week when I started a pitcher on Sunday who bombed. What about 35 innings? That would be 5 starts at 7 innings each per SP. Is it possible to remove HITS on the pitcher side and replace with HR given up?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 (edited) Yes. That is one of the changes I was making, raza. No worries. BTW, congrats. Looks like all those trades with me paid off for you in the end. I am willing to take any and all suggestions. Here's are the stats for next year (stats that are bolded aren't returning): Hitters H/AB, R, H, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, E, AVG., OBP. Pitchers (Teams must at least have 35 IP next season or no stats) IP, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, H, HR, ER, BB, K, ERA, WHIP. So we've 17 got stats. Still these are subject to change. Now that I've thought about it (actually was talking with HQ) I'm changing something, it's 4 keepers people (no regards to hitters or pitchers). Why am I changing that? Because I suddenly realized that the only way you'll be able to keep the nuclear function of your roster, and besides, it still makes it hard for you to choose who you are going to keep, and besides, it's not really fair if I ask it of you to split them apart. So go nuts. Edited September 6, 2004 by Lightning Flik
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 Here are my suggestions for stats. First off, cut out the separate stats for doubles, triples, and the like. I'd make it OBP, R, RBI, HR, SB. This has the added benefit of making steals more valuable. With pitching, I would also use the standard five categories. The White Sux strategy problem would simply be resolved by not using stats that reward not using pitchers. Use wins, saves, strikeouts, ERA, and something else. If possible, use a rate stat. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 (edited) If possible, use a rate stat. Would WHIP be fine? Man... I should've just said, "Al, please post what you believe the stats should be and I'll go with that." Anyways, does everyone like his idea of: Hitters OBP, R, RBI, HR, SB Pitchers wins, saves, strikeouts, ERA If so, we'll go with this. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 WHIP is fine. I've been considering other stats, but its usually better to stick with traditional stats that everyone understands.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Out of curiosity, what is the big rush to find out keepers? We're not even through the season yet. The season is over and the playoffs just started. By now you should have an idea of who you are keeping, for the above reason that raza stated, and just to get it securely done and over with and not having to worry about getting it together
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted September 7, 2004 assuming those are the stats we're using, I'll keep Todd Helton, David Ortiz, Carl Crawford, Ichiro Suzuki
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2004 (edited) Hitters OBP, R, RBI, HR, SB Pitchers wins, saves, strikeouts, ERA, WHIP (teams must make 35 IP to gain stats) If so, we'll go with this. The above stats will be what will be used for next year. So for those of you who still have to name your four players (remember, can be four batters, pitchers or a combination of that), you now have a better idea of what you need to decide on. Edit: I totally forgot to add the rosters: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, UTIL, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP,, RP, RP, BN, BN, DL, DL And the draft order (per round): 1 - New Team (as Small Red Machine was inactive) 2 - Gotham Jokers 3 - Fear The Slayers (still wishes to participate) 4 - Wart Wackos 5 - Serenity 6 - Crimson Storm 7 - NuclearSledgehammers 8 - Brockvegas Posse 9 - Pawtucket Red Sox 10 - Night Rangers 11 - 100% Guapos 12 - EL KABONG~! Slapnuts 13 - Fear The CHECKLIST~! 14 - Rebels of Oakland 15 - The Worst Team 16 - Chicago White Sux Double Edit: About Keepers: Although, I wish to have keepers by the end of the week, it's just so that I've got four down for next season. You'll have until Dec. 20th to modify these keepers at any point, so please don't feel forced to make a choice on keepers. You will be allowed to change them at that point (say if someone suddenly retires or something). But please at least get your keepers that you would like at the current time, so that I have something from you to show that you will be willing to return to the league for next season. Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2004 I sent in my Keepers (Mark Teixeira, Scott Rolen, Mark Mulder and Billy Wagner), though that's when i thought it had to be 2 batters and 2 pitchers, since i evidently can't read or something and it appears to be 4 players of any position i'll probably change at least one or both pitchers to another offensive player (though with Alfonso Soriano, Adrian Beltre, Miguel Cabrera and Joe Mauer sitting there i'll still be letting go of several players i'd like to hang onto).
