Downhome Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I doubt Vince and co. even know who is going to win the match at this point.
Guest KJ Brackish Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 ...excuse me, are we talking about the same Shawn that got BOOED the last time strolling through the Province of Alberta? The same province that has Calgary not that far away, which means Calgarians will be showing up, which means he's ass will be booed more than anything else? And since he'll be against Chris F'N Benoit, Edmontonians will be chanting his (Benoit) and only his name! If there's one thing I know, it's Edmontonians and Calgarians will boo Michaels ass right out of Rexall Centre (I still wish to call it The Colliseum). It's something we two towns agree upon. We don't like him and we never will (and if anyone does, I wish to smack them upside the head). Come the hell on! I mean, there are going to be Shawn Michaels and HHH fans there in attendance. Just because they are in the crap-pot providence they call Alberta, doesn't mean they are going to boo the "HELL" out of both HBK and HHH....but if they do boo the "HELL" out of them, at least HBK will appreciate it. Gets rid of the DEVIL! w00t w00t DFA
Lightning Flik Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Flik, I think THFP meant that Madison Square Garden was Shawn's favorite arena. ...oh... *I feel like an ass after that, then I come to the realization that yes, that is my ass I'm feeling ...getting numb* Some of us Calgarians hate Hart....god I hate him. But yeah, you're right. Well, I don't mind you hating Hart. Everyone has a vice. But you must hate Michaels. [/kidding] Seriously though, Benoit will be cheered so much at Edmonton, I doubt there'd be anything bad to say about. ...I wish I could get tickets... I want to see a live event and this is pretty much going to be my only chance until two years later. Plus him being Champion is a bonus.
CanadianChick Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Actually, LF's assesment is quite correct. If Micheal's is against Benoit, he will get booed out of the arena, especially if he's a heel by then. And if he's not, he will get turned heel by the Edmonton fans.

If Micheal's is against Benoit, he will get booed out of the arena, especially if he's a heel by then. And if he's not, he will get turned heel by the Edmonton fans. LF should know. He IS after all an Edmontonian. He knows his city well. [/end Rock like talk] Shawn will be heel the moment he shows up on the screen. So you better believe that Shawn will only be seen coming out to wrestle Benoit if he isn't heel by the time they get there. Then again, if I remember correctly, I think that the RAW (I'm quite sure it is RAW) or Smackdown before Backlash will be held in Calgary. So expect HBK not to be showing up at all there.
Guest KJ Brackish Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I'm not sure if my ears decieved me, but last time HBK went to Montreal.......I'm not sure what the show was (I had it taped), but HBK got a mixed reaction of cheers and boos. Just because Benoit's a factor doesn't mean this is going to be a one-sided crowd. That's the only point I'm trying to make here. DFA

DFA I believe you are refering to when he was on the Highlight Reel with Jericho sometime mid-03. It may have been mixed when he first came out (I can't really remember, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt), but it turned into jeers very quickly when he said for Montreal to get over the screw job. And if he's the heel, then yes, he will get booed out of the building. Shawn being a heel+being near Bret's hometown+facing a hometown boy=Huge Heel Heat.

I must have missed those jeers (I'm not doubting you....it was a tape from a while ago.) I guess it's up to the fans. You can't tell them who to cheer for. I'm not sure how the Canadian fans are, but they have the right to their own opinion. :-D DFA
Austin3164life Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Why not? It's the best-case scenario: both deserving faces get the belt: Shawn in his favorite arena, Benoit in his hometown. MSG has not been very kind to Shawn Michaels over the years (Recalls the Sid/HBK match, how Michaels was booed).
Guest KJ Brackish Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 MSG has not been very kind to Shawn Michaels over the years (Recalls the Sid/HBK match, how Michaels was booed). Well looking at a little more recient time..... Survivor Series 02' Elimination Chamber. That was a HUGE pop for HBK. I'm not sure if it was for his win or they were happy it was over :-D DFA
bob_barron Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 MSG has not been very kind to Shawn Michaels over the years (Recalls the Sid/HBK match, how Michaels was booed). Well looking at a little more recient time..... Survivor Series 02' Elimination Chamber. That was a HUGE pop for HBK. I'm not sure if it was for his win or they were happy it was over :-D DFA The crowd would've popped for anyone but HHH (or Kane really) winning that night. RVD and Booker T both got huge pops. I remember a lot of the guys were going for HHH at the end. (Our section was chanting Triple H) HBK winning at Wrestlemania would be beyond stupid. The guy had two chances to win the title and choked both times. The first one was totally his fault. Benoit could win the title at Wrestlemania and since Shawn beat him on RAW there's a logical reason to grant him a title shot.
Guest KJ Brackish Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 That would make the most sense and I think that's they way they'll go. We are talking about WWE though, so I'll stay on my toes. :-D
Guest KJ Brackish Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Awe, no picture yet? HUH?!? Picture of what? I think I'm lost in the abyss of this board. :-D DFA

Just because Benoit's a factor doesn't mean this is going to be a one-sided crowd. That's the only point I'm trying to make here. DFA It'll be a one sided crowd. History has taught us that. Remember Benoit vs Austin is Edmonton? Remember the reaction for Benoit? Completely off the charts. Remember Benoit's return in Edmonton after neck surgery? Heat was once again off the charts and that was when no one new he was coming. When Benoit was a heel back in 2000 and went up against face Jericho (they did switch roles for the night though) there were no cheers for even Jericho. Benoit vs Lesnar from Edmonton was reported as giving a thunderous ovation to Benoit. Now put Benoit and Michaels in there on a PPV and we're guaranteed some of the most insane heat that's ever been seen in a wrestling ring anywhere. If I were Michaels I'd seriously consider not even showing up in Edmonton for his own personal safety. It's going to be that bad.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 HUH?!? Picture of what? I think I'm lost in the abyss of this board. :-D DFA Sorry. I was refering to the topic of the promo text and hoping if the poster for April's event was released yet. Guess not.

It's kool. I came here looking for the poster too! :-D....... Hopefully one surfaces soon to give us a little insight on whats up. DFA
Lil' Bitch Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Hey look guys, I found the Backlash 2004 poster on Amazon.com Strangely, they put it for the preview picture of Judgment Day 2003, but its an obvious error. I wish I could have found a bigger picture.
cbacon Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I dunno, why would they put him on the cover after a major loss at WrestleMania? The Backlash PPV with the cover of a loser? nah
Guest Anglesault Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I dunno, why would they put him on the cover after a major loss at WrestleMania? The Backlash PPV with the cover of a loser? nah They would NEVER do such a thing!
Austin3164life Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Shawn Michaels favorite arena is any arena he doesn't have to lay down in. Last I checked, MSG isn't too big a Shawn Michaels fan. They usually give him a hard time there. And I'm sick of this "Shawn will win at WM" bullshit. Let Benoit win at WM, and Backlash. Shawn Michaels DOES NOT deserve ANOTHER World Title run, considering--historically--he's been a poor draw.
Lil' Bitch Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Shawn Michaels favorite arena is any arena he doesn't have to lay down in. He laid down for Sid though. SSeries 96, such a great moment it still is today.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 That's not a fair description of Shawn. There are poor draws, and then there's the man who has five of the top ten worst WWF buyrates ever.
Guest reshad974 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I still think HBK will win at Mania, while Benoit will finally defeat him, and get the title, in Canada at Backlash. And that would be unacceptable. Why not? It's the best-case scenario: both deserving faces get the belt: Shawn in his favorite arena, Benoit in his hometown. his favorite arena dude ?! do you remember Survivor Series '96 when he was booed out of the building despite being the #1 face in the company and very over anywhere else in the country ?
Austin3164life Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Bigger: If he is winning, that picture would show him with the Big Gold Kliq Title. He's jobbing, then winning at Backlash, which is stupid.
Lil' Bitch Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 If he is winning, that picture would show him with the Big Gold Kliq Title. He's jobbing, then winning at Backlash, which is stupid. Well, of course winning at OMG THE BIGGEST PPV OF TIME~!! would be great, but I'm expecting some sort of a screwjob a.k.a. Benoit gets the Rock treatment. Winning the title in your hometown is always nice though.
ChrisMWaters Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Bigger: If he is winning, that picture would show him with the Big Gold Kliq Title. He's jobbing, then winning at Backlash, which is stupid. Um, not necessarily. Posters are made in advance, you know. Remember the 01 Vengeance poster?
