the pinjockey Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Al, your most recent five picks: LeCroy Contreras Alex Sanchez Lieber Luis Matos
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Damn. I really don't need LeCroy when I have Pudge. And I'm just asking to jump on the Yankees' injury brigade.
the pinjockey Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Bobby Higginson Ronnie Belliard Last 2 rounds for Al
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Thanks for keeping me updated guys. I really appreciate it.
the pinjockey Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Jimmy Gobble Matt Riley Omar Vizquel most recent 3 rounds
the pinjockey Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Most recent 4 Lance Carter Grant Balfour Dewon Brazelton Aaron Rowland One round left
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Figured I'd get bunches of middle relief due to autodraft. I need a better shortstop.
the pinjockey Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Herbert Perry rounds out your draft. Players are up on the site now
Bored Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I completely forgot about tonight's draft until about midway through it. The autodraft gave me Palmeiro in the 4th round and Randy Winn in the 5th. Last place here I come. Although I guess the real Bill Bavasi would love my team.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Our league uses waiver rules, so you have about two days to claim un-drafted players.
Lightning Flik Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I'm a little shaky in my last place on my rotation. Overall my team's looking good. Hopefully I can find someone to take that last rotation spot.
HarleyQuinn Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 My lineup's solid with guys like Ramirez, Kennedy, Durazo, Berroa, Gerut, Olivo and Blalock. I got two capable relievers in Chad Bradford and Brendan Donnelly. My biggest concern's my rotation though. Tim Hudson, Jarrod Washburn, Brian Anderson, Kurt Ainsworth, Kevin Appier...here's hoping that Washburn returns to his 2002 form and that Appier returns to form as Anderson and Ainsworth have career years.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Give me a bit to mull that trade offer, whoever Serenity is.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Would you take LeCroy for Phelps?
HarleyQuinn Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I'm actually surprised yet again at how solid my team seems to be...
the pinjockey Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 If you would rather do that I am up for it
Der Kommissar Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I am realtively happy with my team. My starting pitching seems decent enough, though I am a tad worried about the fifth spot in the rotation. My closer plays for Tampa Bay, which means I won't be getting a lot of saves. On the plus side, my team should have the edge in stolen bases. I have 6 players with at least 10 steals last year. Other than third base and catcher, I think my team could be relatively solid this year. I am excited.
Lightning Flik Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 WTF... Why was Joe Nathan listed as a starter in the Yahoo Draft, yet when I got to put him as SP, he doesn't go.
the pinjockey Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I am really happy with my team now that I got a catcher. I like that there are only 24 people left that qualify as a SP.

Honestly, the 5th starter's spot is going to be a bitch, because we're really scraping the bottom of the talent pool. There's only 5 pitchers more that have rotation spots than we require in this league. I lucked out with Grant Balfour.
razazteca Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Is 10 wins worth it considering the ERA is 7.31?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Ah Colby Lewis. Well, you have to remember he won't necessarily repeat those numbers. I think Colby is a good candidate for a rebound actually.
Dr. Tom Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 He seems two years away to me. BTW, 5 starters per team was fucking retarded.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Perhaps, but I wanted to create a real challenge. Besides, I kind of like trying to figure out who will have a real season between Grant Balfour, Matt Riley, and Jimmy Gobble. Most real teams have bad 5th starters as well.
razazteca Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I only have 2 real starters with 5 relief pitchers.
MrRant Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Well I ended up not being able to attend and am glad that some of my picks went through but my auto draft picks only went so far. I think I only did through 50. Anyone (Al) want to give me a evaluation as it was my first time having to do so with only 1 league. Keep in mind that I already dropped A. Boone.
Der Kommissar Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I like the fifth starter idea. Hell, the two I have in contention for my fifth spot(Hernadez and Dickey) are about as good as some starters I was stuck with autodrafts in other leagues I have done. Considering this is AL only, they are probably a step up from the others. Besides, I think challenges can make a league more fun.
