The Boss Reponds to Henry.

The Red Sox and Cubs are the big appeal teams. Once they win, that appeal is shot to hell. I didn't even realize Cleveland was jinxed.

To be honest, I'd choose beating the Yankees to get to the WS only to lose just because nothing would piss off George more then knowing that the Sox beat him to get to the WS, although winning it would be even sweeter revenge.

I might be wrong, but I thought that they hadn't won since like 1954 or something. I knew the Angels were thought to be jinxed, but they broke that 2 years ago.

The Angels were possibly the most jinxed of all. They were 3 outs away from the World Series in 1986, and up by three runs. With a three run series lead. And there's other events as well, but I don't have that article available at the moment.

The White Sox aren't mentioned, but they haven't won a series since 1917. You'd think someone would write about the "Black Sox Curse" more often.

That's because the Tribune Co. has brainwashed everyone in the Chicgao area to be Cubs fans.

That, and the WGN TV deal they had for so many years.

The Best NLCS series was probably the 1980 one between the Phillies and Astros.

Game 1 goes to the Phillies 3-1.

Game 2 goes to Houston after a big 4 run 10th inning whilst holding the Phils to 1 run in the bottom of the 10th to win 7-4.

Game 3 the Astros win in the bottom of the 11th 1-0 thanks a sacrifice fly.

Game 4 after tying the game in the bottom of the 9th, the Astros choke and after scoring 2 runs in the top of the 10th, Phillies win 5-3.

Game 5 the Astros once again stay alive by scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game at 7. In the top of the 10th, the Phils manage to score a run thanks to a double from Maddox and went on to win the World Series over the Royals 4 games to 2.

I think everyone who tries to hate yankee fans and boston fans in such a generalizing way is just mad he's not a part of the greatest sports rivalry of all time.

Ghettoman, just the opposite: I'm mad that I'm STUCK IN THE MIDDLE of the greatest sports rivalry of all time. I'm a diehard Bruins and Pats fan, yet have to listen to the jackasses on sports radio talk about the Red Sox 365 days of the year. The Pats win 2 of 3 Super Bowls, yet trade rumors get most of the airtime. I'd give anything to be able to avoid "Evil Empire" talk for a while.

You think that's bad.

Try living in Oklahoma.

I'm a huge OU fan and I like ALL OU sports. Football's over......that's great.....let's get back to football in August whenver the season starts. Basketball is going on right now.

But to this day.......a month and a half after it fucking happened we have jackasses calling into the radio and complaining about Jason White and the Sugar Bowl.

It's over guys! OU lost! Jason White played the whole game! You can't change it! Quit bitching! Wait for next season! But you're a big OU fan!? Well guess what!? Your basketball team is having a bad season and might not make the NCAA tournament. How about you go support them instead of whining about a football game that has already happened!?!?!?

I can see it now.......if OU were to win the National Championship next year there would be calls on the radio like this:

"Hey nice win last night in the Orange Bowl! Sooners National Champions in 2004! Whoo! But what I wanted to talk about was the Sugar Bowl. What was wrong with Bob Stoops!? Why didn't he put Paul Thompson in!?!?!"

See the thing of it is, is that Boston has ALWAYS been baseball first, basketball second, hockey third and football last in terms of importance and no matter how good a team does in hockey or football during the season at the end the focus will still be on the Red Sox and Celtics. We celebrate the Bruins and Pats during their seasons but we celebrate the Sox and Celtics year round. You could probably put the Celts/Bruins as #2 but I chose the Celts because they're a bit more popular.

I always remembered it as

1) Red Sox

2) Bruins

3) Celtics

4) Patriots

Though now, when I visited there a few months ago, it's Pats/Sox/Bruins/Celtics with B's and Celts being tied for 3.

Yeah, the Bruins & Celtics are pretty interchangeable but I was considering all 4 teams on a year round basis in terms of fan support. IMO, Boston will always be a baseball city just because of the history and closeness that the fans have towards the Red Sox which transcends any of the others team in the city.

I've only been alive since the mid-70's, so won't really touch the years beyond that. In the 70s, Boston was a hockey and baseball town (Orr-&-Espo-era Bruins & Yaz-era Sox). In the 80's the Celtics replaced the B's as one of the big 2 in Boston (Bird/Parrish/McHale era). Late 80s, when the C's stopped winning, hockey got big again (Neely/Oates/Bourque) and joined baseball as one of the big two. Since the Kraft-empire took over the Pats, they've jumped to the second place mantel, and knocked the B's & C's down to a distant 3rd and 4th. Whichever team is playing better gets the nod into third place.

If I had to list them, right now it'd be:

1) Sox, most attention by a lot

2) Pats

3) Bruins, but way behind the big 2

4) Celts, close to #3 but as long as Ainge is fucking up the team, they're going to stay behind the Bruins as least popular.

Angels owner makes Henry look like EVEN MORE of a whiney bastard fool.

Found on another board.

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/spo...els-Moreno.html

Arte Moreno is A-OK with A-Rod going to the New York Yankees.

Moreno compared it to buying an automobile.

``You think, I'd really like to have that new car. The question is, `Do I want to make the payments on it, or can I make the payments on it?' So the Yankees didn't do anything out of line,'' Moreno said. ``They had to pay a luxury tax last year, and we have revenue sharing.''

Moreno doesn't think the Yankees' acquisition of Rodriguez was a case of the rich getting richer.

``We don't look at it that way. Obviously, the Marlins won last year and we won the year before that, and the Diamondbacks won the year before that,'' he said. ``At the end of the day, the planets have to line up, and you have to have the right chemistry, and I think that's the way the game works.

``There are a lot of teams out there that have been trying to win a championship for a long time and I haven't seen anybody just buy one.''

The Angels' payroll is expected to be around $110 million.

Well geez, first of all, they're not even the Boston Patriots like they're meant to be. Aside from Tom Brady they're no-namers who don't play exciting football. Of course they'll be last. It goes without saying that

Chicago's priorities rotate by year and by time of year, I feel. Right now it's gotta be

Cubs

Bears

Bulls

White Sox

Blackhawks

The White Sox will always be the Cubs' bitch, though. That remains constant.

In Wisconsin it's

Packers

Packers training camp

Packers trade rumors

Wisconsin Badgers

Bucks

Packers

Brewers

Marquette

Um, how does he look like a whiny bastard Anglesault? He looks like he is not whining in the LEAST to me. He just says you can't buy a championship, you have to win it. Which means, he is supporting the Yankees move and saying it doesn't guarantee them anything.
