Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I'm talking about ppvs here. I was taking a break from watching, and I'm trying to pick up on what I missed. From what I hear, it will be a short list, but what shows from the period do you think are worth owning? Thanks for the help.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 SummerSlam 2002 No Mercy 2002 Royal Rumble 2003 (for Benoit/Angle) That's all I'd recommend.
Guest Ray Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Consider Royal Rumble 2002. The Rock/Jericho title match was very good, and I enjoyed the Rumble match (especially Austin's stuff, and Mr Perfect being in there near the end).

Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted February 19, 2004 The Big Four in 2002 I would say were the only overall good shows (with SummerSlam the best), though others had the odd moment or two Royal Rumble - the rumble itself was a good one (HHH returns before everyone realised he wasn't very good anymore, Mr Perfect made the final four), plus Rock-Jericho for the title was great No Way Out - Hogan, Nash & Hall came back, everything sucked WrestleMania X8 - For the most part everything was really really solid, if not particularly memorable. Rock-Hogan certainly made up for the memorable part of things. Backlash - Tajiri/Kidman and Angle/Edge were both pretty good but you have Hogan going over HHH in the main, so that brought the card into suckitude. Judgement Day - Three sweet matches (Eddie/RVD, Edge/Angle, HHH/Jericho Hell In A Cell) make this well worth a look, but the rest of the show is really, really bad. King Of The Ring - Just awful. Nothing of note. Vengeance - The three-way main between Rock, Taker and Angle is good but nothing else is. SummerSlam - Best PPV of 2002 by a country mile. Four very good matches (Angle/Rey, Lance/Christian vs. Booker/Goldust, HHH/Shawn StreetFight and Rock/Lesnar with the fans completely turning on Rock like they did at Mania) Unforgiven - good Benoit/Angle match but not much else, bullshit no-contest in the Lesnar/Taker main No Mercy - Match of the Year with Angle/Benoit vs. Edge/Rey for the new SD Tag belts plus dramatic Lesnar/Taker gorefest Hell In A Cell make this worth checking out, though the undercard really, really sucks. Survivor Series - like Mania, most everything from top to bottom is pretty solid. The Angle/Benoit vs. Edge/Rey vs. Eddie/Chavo three-way is really good and the debut of the Elimination Chamber is certainly memorable (RVD crushes HHH's windpipe and in doing so kisses his career goodbye) Armageddon - The worst show of the year, as December offerings usually are. Benoit/Eddie is good but the rest is terrible. That's my two pennies worth.

Kaertos 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 One thing about KoR 2002 though... If you skip it you miss a pretty decent match between Eddie and Ric Flair. BUTT more importantly, you get to see Hulk Hogan tap to the Ankle Lock. I was there and I admit to saying this is among the greatest live wrestling expieriences I've ever had. Angle was solidly the heel, but as soon as he hooked in the Ankle Lock, the crowd went bonkers wanting to see the Hulkster tap.

JJMc 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Sorry to get off track but all this talk about Perfect (and looking at some Heats from '02) got me thinking. Why didn't they do more with him in '02? What's the point of making him a heel? They popped huge for him at the Rumble... Yeah, he was old, but they could've had something. It just makes me sad considering what happened. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I'm talking about ppvs here. I was taking a break from watching, and I'm trying to pick up on what I missed. From what I hear, it will be a short list, but what shows from the period do you think are worth owning? Thanks for the help. Royal Rumble 2002- It has a great Jericho v. Rock title match and a good Rumble. Vince v. Flair is fun to watch and Edge v. Regal is a major mark out moment for me. No Way Out 2002- Not much to see here. I liked this more then most people did but there really isn't much to see. Wrestlemania X-8 Hogan v. Rock is a must see. HHH v. Y2J and Flair v. Taker are both good matches while the rest of the card is in the **ish range. Backlash- Edge v. Angle is excellent and Tajiri v. Kidman is really good too. Eddy v. RVD is good but a bit flat. The rest is awful. Judgement Day- JD is a another mixed bag. RVD v. Eddy and Angle v. Edge once again are good matches. I really enjoyed the HIAC match even though a lot of people hate it just for the ending. The rest sucks. KOTR- An awful, awful, awful show. Jericho v. RVD is the one good match. Hogan tapping to the anklelock is nice and all but the match is horrible. Flair v. Eddy is 20 minutes of boredom. Watching Eddy dog it is not pretty. Vengeance- An interesting show. Jericho jobs to Cena, Benoit/Eddy job to the Dudleyz and Regal jobs to Jeff freaking Hardy. The main event kicks ass and the show overall is fun to watch. Summerslam- The best PPV of 2002 bar none. HHH v. HBK, RVD v. Benoit, Eddy v. Edge, Angle v. Rey are all fun to watch. UnAmericans v. BookDust is dissapointing but the show as a whole is great. Unforgiven- A two match show. Eddy v. Edge and Benoit v. Angle are both MOTYC. The 8-man tag is fun to watch and Jericho v. Flair is good but way too short. The two title matches both left a sour taste in my mouth. No Mercy- Angle/Benoit v. Rey/Edge is many people's picks for WWE MOTY and I can't say I disagree. Brock v. Taker is a really good bloody brawl. Survivor Series- I was there so I'm biased. The Elimination Chamber is a good but flawed match. Brock v. Big Show is a must see just for the insane love the crowd gives Lesnar. The rest of the show is pretty good- nothing sucks. Armageddon- A snoozer of a show. HHH v. HBK is beyond boring. Eddy v. Benoit is good but there's nothing else to see. The DVD contains Angle v. Edge v. Eddy v. Angle from SD! which is a great match. I'll do 2003 in a second. Overall I'd rank them- 1. Summerslam 2. Royal Rumble 3. Wrestlemania X-8 4. Survivor Series 5. Unforgiven 6. Judgement Day 7. Vengeance 8. Backlash 9. No Mercy 10. Armageddon 11. No Way Out 12. King of the Ring
