k thx 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 You can never go wrong with more HD space. Especially if you've got broadband.
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 The upgrade is way better than what you had before. I wouldn't be able to live with a 150MHZ PC! Well, if you plan to get broadband, I suggest you get a bigger HDD. Like....maybe 60GB will do you good, or maybe 80GB.

Link Not to be an ass or anything.... but you are aware pretty much nothing right now is written to take advantage of the Athlon 64 correct? And you bought a COMPAQ?!?! Again not to be an ass..... if you are going to spend that you should have built it yourself and have had the ability to upgrade it as you see fit. It may have been cheaper also or a tad more expensive but you save in the long run by being able to just switch out components in say 2-3 years instead of almost chucking your whole system due to it being a custom board + the cases suck. Just my opinion.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 How much did you pay? Please tell me no more than like $300. You'd be getting hosed at $300 for that system. I wouldn't even pay $300 Canadian for that today. I think I paid $600 CDN for that exact system 3 years ago.

Heck, my computer is a 2400+ AMD Athlon, 80 GB HDD, 256 MB, with a CD-RW and DVD, and it was only $500.

I have an old(ish) machine myself and have been looking to upgrade. Paying more than £99 for that machine would be too much. So saying, did it come with Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and Software etc? Well it does have dual processors so that would make it worth the $300 but the only boost you see is in internet browsing, Word and things that can actually make use of dual processors. Guest KJ Brackish Report post Posted February 22, 2004 I had/have broadband with COMCAST (w00t w00t eh Mr. Rant?!?) I only paid about $180 all together. The original computer was a desktop so I bought that ATX case. I actually bought a better one, which is here: which tells the temperature as well. I was actually browsing the internet with my old Cyrix. I couldn't believe it worked. I'm going to get a job at Comcast here in Salt Lake City (we'll be business partners Mr. Rant) HOPEFULLY. I just barely (like 2 minutes ago) bought a 40 GB HDD to add on to the 20 GB (40 GB Master - 20 GB Slave) and it only cost me about $26 and that includes shipping. This is totally my year of the computer! "Regards," DFA
