Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 My vote goes for 2005, because that's when I'll start bringing the content.
Slayer Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Something funny I notice as I peruse the moderator profiles Kahran, APO and Zach were all born within seven months after me
k thx Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 My vote goes for 2005, because that's when I'll start bringing the content. .Fuck. We've got annother 10 months of this?
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 so why is tsm not as good anymore? the rules? mods? posters? It's not the mods. I'm like that cool teacher you all had in school. The kind who hooked you up with booze and hit on the hot senior girls. You're the only one who doesn't take themselves in this fantasy land role so seriously. I think Tom is the only one who gets carried away in that sense, as I've never seen any major problems with BPS, APO, Zach or Sass. The only one I have trouble with is Kahran, but that's more because he's a stinkin' cheesehead Oh yeah, as for which year has been the best of the 00's... Definitely not '01, that was a horrible year for me '02 and '03 were kinda meh... Nothing bad has really happened, but nothing notable either (probably because I've been mired in school the whole time) So 2000 wins by default Tom has many detracters...and with good reason.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 2001. I hadn't joined yet and therefore can imagine a perfect message board. I joined on June 31, 2001 and I can safely say that the last 6 months of 2001 on the old board sucked. 10x worse than it is now. If I remember correctly (and everything from the old board is a blur) m pretty sure that was the time of the yellow board, SK as Hitler and a lot of random bannings and pissed off posters. Of the years listed that I can account for, Im going to say 2002.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 If Scott Keith made an account here would he be immediately banned? Serious question since basically he and Dames are competition in the reviewing department, along with the fact that alot of posters dislike him.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 *Histoy lesson time kiddies* Last half 2001 was at the tale-end of the ezboard era. they were getting ready to switch over to the new board so they decided to stop banning people and basically let the forums go to hell. this can be best remembered as the time of Xkilla and Mr. X. oh and that WDI thing too

If you've stayed afloat, then I'm sure Keith would be just fine.

Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 SK is a fat fuck who no one should give a shit about..

I tried to match it at UGS once but I couldn't get the same cornea ruining effect.
spiny norman Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 I voted for 2002. The change of boards was good because at last we didn't have that disgusting mustard colour, then we had the change of owners of the board which was good because we had people who cared running the board and there was a whole lot of change, mostly for the better. Next is 2001. Because it had Mr. X, plus Keith's Banfest was kind of suspenseful, everyone was just dropping like flies. 2003 was the next best, though the end of it was pretty lackluster. And 2000, though it marked my arrival on this board, was just there.
Zorin Industries Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 2002 followed by the 1st six months of 2003, though these past couple of months have been good i've thought
The Czech Republic Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 2002 was the best, though my involvement was spotty during the first half of it. Just a lot of great great content during those days, though I didn't quite hit my stride until like August 2002. 2003 was okay but too much Prince Paul crap sort of ruined it. 2001 was a mess towards the end, when I was there at least. You had the transitional period of the board when we went from blue patterns to blue to bright freaking yellow. Then there were the bannings, of which I was an unlucky recipient as I AM THE ALLIANCE because I called Jeremy Botter anal. Someone should write a column for the site about the lineage/history of the forum and the site, all the way back to Rantsylvania and the Delphi board. I could always give it a shot--just summarize changes in appearance, personnel, folders, etc. My knowledge of the board only goes to August 2001, so I would need more tenured alumni to collaborate with. It's worth a shot.
Murmuring Beast Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 1805 was the best year for the board.
Anorak Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 2002 followed by the 1st six months of 2003, I was thinking exactly the same even before i read this post. There's still good threads in the pop culture section but you just don't get them in the same quantity these days. Some really good posters who made a mark early on have either left or post on increasingy rare occasions. The earlier era of the board definately had the best of the 'entertaining crap' moments i reckon, trolls that were hilarious like xkiller and weird loose cannons like My Eyebrow Is On Fire & Boo Bradley, posters who were going to end up banned sooner rather than later but were far more interesting than the likes of Eagan, Johnson etc. The last 2-3 months have been decent.

It's worth a shot. i started that one time as TMO but it gotso bogged down with details and shit I gave up. i think i have chat transcripts of interviews with Dames, Popick, etc. still though. it was funny listening to Popick go on and on about saving the board...for about 5 minutes.
Dr. Tom Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 ya but Principal Tom takes away all the fun. Regardless if it doesn't break any rules, if he doesn't like something it gets deleted, closed, sent to a concentration camp. I think I can count on two hands the number of threads I've deleted and/or closed in the last year or more. When you eliminate silly trolling threads from the mix, it probably gets down to one hand. I see a lot of posts here I don't like, and a lot of threads I don't agree with. The fact remains that I close very, very few threads, and that should be pretty apparent to see.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 christ...you must have extra fingers on your hands...
justsoyouknow Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 See, CWM, THAT is the type of argument that only one in such a great position of power can make! LEARN FROM HIM! Although, if you would have made that joke to him, he would have said, "Lazy argument! Proof! I need proof!" Maybe the ability to make mom jokes is one of those "perqs" that Tom loves to talk about so much.
Anorak Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Joking about somebody's mother? How insensitive! There's going to be fisticuffs if people don't calm down.

This is HD, where one person can take a harmless jab like that at another, and shouldn't have to face the Spanish Inquisition (no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!) over it after the fact. Whenever you're tired of misinterpreting things and being wrong, you can stop.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Your mom never complained. that's because my mom is a whore.

The Czech Republic Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Did any incarnation of this board exist in 1999?
