Plughead Rewired:Circuitry Man II- 4/10

plug1.jpg

Really bad, but in an entertaining, watchable way. Plot doesn't make a jot of sense and the acting is really poor, but the dialogue and special effects (if you can call them that) are so dreadful that it becomes perversely entertaining, as I was hoping. I mean, look at Plughead, he's like a rubbish alien Brock Lesnar and is thus a work of genius.

SWAT - 4/10 - "marry me alex", cheesy titty flash, linkin park song lasting over 7 seconds = below average.

OLDBOY - 10/10, cool from start to finish, smart, unbelievable yet simple.

Well last night, around 12:45 i think, I watched Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster on tv. I have to give it a 7/10, because 1.) It's a movie I loved when i was a kid 2.) It has Godzilla, and 3.) the score kicks serious ass. Sure, it was on MST3K, but I still enjoy the movie to this day.

The Punisher (7th time)

10/10

4/10. Don't be mad, but I saw this when I wasn't in the mood for comedy. I was dragged along, and left. There's a better score from Sunday.

Sunday:

9/10: Better the second time around, as a nearly pissed myself laughing from it.

10/10: Holy crap, was this fucking great. I never saw this, and I finally did. I just laughed my ass off after seeing a bad Packer game. Seller's was at his best in this.

Last night, saw "Requiem for a dream" 10/10. One of the most disturbing, and the most depressing, of the movies I've ever seen. Makes the dentist scene in "The Marathon Man" look like "The Care Bears Movie" (not that I've seen the Care Bears Movie )

Just got done watching my 10th movie in about six days.

The Running Man - 7/10, probably my favorite non-Terminator Arnold movie. Richard Dawson is very, very good in it as well. And hey, it's a La Fours sighting!

Amores Perros - 9/10, pretty good foreign movie, not blowaway awesome like City of God but still very good.

The Ring - 7/10, not the scariest movie ever, but it had some pretty good execution. Even if you yourself are not scared, you can tell the parts where you're supposed to be scared, which is hard for me with some movies.

Jacob's Ladder - 8/10, Tim Robbins is just that damn good. The concept was interesting and I was left satisfied with the ending.

The Princess Bride - 9/10, the only movie that I have seen that was completely ridiculous and yet so very, very good.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - 10/10, I saw no faults in this movie. A movie that was good at everything it tried to be.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - 10/10, a movie that still kicks ass today, even if I'm seeing it for the first time.

The Backyard - 6/10, it's a lot better than Backyard Dogs, but not nearly as good as Beyond The Mat. Somewhere in-between.

Ghost World - 8/10, the leading three with Thora, Scarlett and Steve are all good stuff. Quirky comedy, and I didn't really like the ending all that much.

Traffic - 10/10, they did a lot of things right and not a lot of things wrong. The whole movie is a good statement regarding the war on drugs.

"The Care Bears Movie" (not that I've seen the Care Bears Movie )

There's not one thing wrong with watching The Care Bears Movie, so bah to that macho "I wouldn't watch that, I'm a guy" garbage.

Mean Girls: 7/10

It was Good, but the last quarter of the movie dragged it down some.

Secret Window: 6/10

It wasn't bad, but other than watching Johnny Depp and John Turturro clearly having fun with the characters, it was nothing to write home about.

Punisher: 6/10

Could've been better, but It wasn't as bad as I've heard and I liked Thomas Jane as Punisher.

The Girl Next Door: 7.5/10

It started slow and I wasn't expecting much, but by the time it was over I surprisingly liked it alot. It was better and different than I expected.

The Man Who Knew Too Little (7/10)

Pretty good. Hardly a masterpiece, but still an entertaining film. If you've got a soft spot for slapstick you should find it amusing.

On my trip to London I saw:

Super Size Me (9/10). Man, this was just awesome. A little over-the-top with the experiment, to be sure, but it really makes you think about all the crap we eat.

Soul Plane (2/10). It gets a 2 because there a couple of funny lines, plus this was the first time I've ever heard "teabagging" used in a movie. Other than that, it was just really, really bad. It tried to be much more than a standard sight gag movie, and it just doesn't work. Especially if Method Man is one of your main supporting actors.

DVD-Junk.jpg

I give it 7/10

Granted, it's not perfect, but I liked it. Sure it's got plot holes, lacks originality, and has bad acting, I still enjoyed it. It's got yakuza, zombies, gore, a zombie eating it's own flesh (you heard that right. Obviously a first) and a badass zombie chick who spends half of her screen time topless, is super fast, super strong, intelligent, and nearly invincible. What's not to enjoy?

Falling Down- 2/10

Awful. Just awful. I can't believe it got such a high rating on IMDB. Not funny as a comedy, not intense as a thriller, and too cheesy to be a drama.

Thirteen - 7/10 Much better than Kids, but still flawed and doesn't have a very constant pace.

A Beautiful Mind - 10/10 Great movie, I loved it. Crowe and Connelly are both great, and the movie keeps you interested all the way through.

Hearts in Atlantis - 6/10 The adults were all pretty good, but the kids were not, which brought down this movie quite a bit since the kids were a good portion of the movie. Still, there were a couple of good parts about this movie towards the end that redeemed it enough.

Ringu - 8/10 The movie is much darker than the American version, which I appreciate, but the video itself isn't as impressive (or downright scary) as the American version. I thought the acting was about the same as the Americans, and all in all, I think this movie is just about as good as the American version.

I rented The Godfather as well, but fate was conspiring against me and the VCR ate up the tape (which I was able to salvage so as to not face the wrath of Movie Gallery). However, it was still no good, so I'm downloading The Godfather (and Spider-Man 2), and I rented Three Kings, Unforgiven, Life of Brian and The Untouchables. Should be a fun weekend.

Casshern - 7/10, god how I wanted to love this movie, it had good sountrack, great visuals, fine acting but the simple plot and flashy characters just didnt accelerate to my or the movie's expectations. And it was a little too long for a sci-fi film which promised an all out war against the machines.

Memories of Murder - 8.5/10. No movie has ever made me laugh and feel fear at the same time like this one did. I almost couldnt believe how they managed to balance it out without making it weak in either genres. It's not gory but the way it's shot (almost like a documentary) added extra layers to the strong characters and plot. Fans of crime thrillers with a sidekick of dark comedy must see this.
