Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004) - [3.0/10]
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 Panic Room - (8.0/10) I've had many chances to see this, but never bothered, I finally saw it this morning. The plot is nothing special, yet it's realistic. The acting is great, especially by Foster and Stewart. The visuals/camera work is excellent. David Fincher is money in the bank.
Hank Kingsley Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 "Better Off Dead" Jesus. 9/10 just for the bizarre entertainment value. "TWO DOLLARS" and the Racing Chinese just top off a hilarious movie.
Guest thebigjig Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 Triplets of Bellville 8.5/10 - suuuuch a strange fucking movie... but brilliant as well
Nevermortal Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 7.5/10 for HOLES I loved the book....the movie left a little to be desired.
Ravenbomb Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Rio Bravo - 4.5/5 Put anybody else besides John Wayne in the lead and it might've gotten 5/5. I HATE John Wayne. The rest of it was good, though.
{''({o..o})''} Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 God of Cookery - 9.5/10 Downloaded it on a lark and it is now one of my favorite movies in a while. Never takes itself seriously and is great because of it. Kung-fu cooking is something we need to see more of.
Guest swilk Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Kill Bill Vol. 1 10/10 First viewing of this movie. One the best movies I've ever seen. Truly awesome!
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 You can tell the way that Tarantino got his education for his career, because his films are a shitload of style and not a lot of content - but they're still great. Today, in school... - ****
Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Envy (2004) - [4.5/10] Some laughs... Walken was great as always, but wow .. the story was just bleh, and I think Levinson really hurt the movie.
ArkhamGlobe Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Last night I rewatched That Man from Rio, a french Bond spoof from 1964 that is just oodles of fun.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 OctoberBlood, I thought you were talking about a different Envy for a second there, and I was like, shit, you've seen that!? This evening... Ok, not really - more like - *****
Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 OctoberBlood, I thought you were talking about a different Envy for a second there, and I was like, shit, you've seen that!? This evening... Which Envy? Oh, and that picture is great.
Guest thebigjig Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Hot Shots - 7/10 - I dont think this movie holds up very well. Most of the jokes and gags fall flat, but overall it's a hell of alot funnier than most of the new "slapstick" movies like Not Another Teen Movie
Insane Bump Machine Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Swordsman II - **** Not Another Teen Movie - *** Das Weisse Rauschen - ****
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 OctoberBlood, I thought you were talking about a different Envy for a second there, and I was like, shit, you've seen that!? This evening... Which Envy? Oh, and that picture is great. Oh, and Australian made-for-Showtime flick. Not bad (**3/4). Page is here. Today, I saw some of I've seen it in it's entirety, and it's also a **3/4 affair. BF, have you seen the predecessor and/or prequel in that series?
Guest Pigsy Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 I watched Battle Royale on Channel 4 last night (in the UK). I don't think it quite lived up to the hype, and I think there were too many characters which made it hard to care about some of them. The ending also bugged me, as it seemed like a cop out (although I'm probably just bitter that Mitsuko didn't win). Still it was quite a good film, with an interesting concept and a good cast.
ArkhamGlobe Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 The whole tv series version of Best Intentions, running in excess of five hours. Having read the script I can understand that it may be a bit problematic to film, but hooboy, Bille August just has too much respect for Bergman. Not to say that it was bad or anything, as it's well acted and despite the formal problems with the script, with a braver director this could have ended up really good as there's good material in there. That brings me to the biggest problem with the series, namely Bille August's direction. Beyond the previously mentioned stuff, his direction is just wholly void of any kind of personality and any sense of purpose. Why does August frame the way he does? Why does he pace the cuts this way? I see no adequate reasons personally, making August's work here even more frustrating. And his use of music was just totally fucking abhorring. This sounds overtly negative, as I did find the series as a whole to be passable, but it's just frustrating to watch because, as I previously stated, with a more interesting director this would most likely have been SO much better.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Early this morning... - ***** And this afternoon... - *****
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Tombstone - 9/10 You and I sure to seem watch a lot of films. Either that or we're posting in here for the hell of it. Tombstone is definitely the best in that series, surpassing the quality of Wyatt Earp.
BlackFlagg Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 You and I sure to seem watch a lot of films. Either that or we're posting in here for the hell of it. Well I don't know about you, but I do watch alot of films:)
