Progress Report on Eddie vs. Angle so far.

Well, we're into the second week of the Angle/Eddie feud, something I thought was gonna be a total disaster.

I'll admit, the first week, the turn itself, probably couldn't have gotten any better. It was pulled off perfectly by everyone and made Angle a strong heel challenger for Eddie to slay at the PPV. A strong A+

It also gave me alot of hope for this week's show.

As many of you know, I feel that they dropped the ball.

They took a strong heel, and turned him into a boob. He's already hiding behind Heyman, the cops and DAWN MARIE. And Eddie has already attacked the man. It really ruined the momenum they had going and turned Angle into the cookie cutter pussy heel. Awful Awful Awful D-, saved from an F only because they ignored January.

So, the avereage for a feud that looked like it was going to be awful, and then looked like it had a chance to be awesome, is now a C

Kind of unfortunate.

Everyone else's opinion?

Not enough feud for a reasonable grade yet.

That's why it's a progress report instead of a report card.

We're approximately half way there.

I'd like it to go a bit farther than Mania.

Possibly end at JD?

Nah, Eddie should win at Mania.

Here is my take...

I think the angle makes sense. For weeks, we've seen Angle being associated with Heyman. At first, it was small stuff like convincing him to make matches. Then we have Angle try to reconcile the Guerreros and bring in Chavo Senior. I'm guessing that Angle's character wanted to get rid of Eddie without violence by turning his life to Hell. Perhaps he wanted to mess up his life so bad that he (Eddie) "fell off the wagon." When that didn't work, he moved on to the violence.

Kurt's heel turn is actually pretty similar to Brock's (even the fake beatdown). His character is jealous and is trying to rationalize that jealousy.

I'd give it a B- or so, simply because they are just about overdoing it on the Eddie and drugs thing.

Agreed. I think they are walking a very fine line with it. I'm hoping Angle focuses more of the gimmick (Lie, Cheat, Steal) rather than real life past problems.

We're pretending that didn't happen.

That's certainly telling.

I think so.

The only thing here is a match. And quite frankly, I don't think that match will be what people are expecting it to be. I'm not really "hyped" on that match because I don't think it will be better than Angle/Benoit RR03, or Eddie/Brock NWO04. I'm seeing it closer to Benoit/Guerrero Vengeance 03, and I did not like that match one single bit. I expect Angle/Guerrero to be better, but still in that same area.

I don't care about Eddies drug problems. I don't care that Eddie is under 6ft and is Mexican. Being 6'2, Canadian and hardly a drinker let alone drug addict, I can't identify with any of his problems or demons. They haven't made it easy for me to identify with him. They just say all of this stuff and expect me to take it for face value; despite basing their entire storyline on it. I think that's a lil bit insulting.

The history between the two had me scratching my head. Kurt talking about Eddies drug problems and having "to go there" as if they were long-time best buddies which they clearly weren't. And now Kurts epic betrayal is supposed to invest me in seeing Eddies revenge?

The characters don't work well either, IMO. I like the Purist Kurt Angle vs. the Unlikely Hero Eddie Guerrero and them clashing. It's a lot like Hart/Austin. But that's on paper. In reality, the two personalities can't relate on any ground. Kurt Angle can't play Hart and Eddie can't play Austin. Kurt's a goofball and Eddie is a fun loving latino. I don't think they could even base a (good) sitcom around that.

A strong A+ is 100%.

A D- is between 60% and 63%.

Therefore, the correct average thus far is between 80% and 81.5%, which is a B-, not a C.

Hey, it gave us Chavo Senior.

That's what I'm hoping for also. I want them to keep it strictly dealing with his gimmick more so, not his real life issues in the past.

80% would never, ever hae gotten me a B.

Grades break down this way:

100%-90% A

89%-80% B

79%-70% C

69%-60% D

59%-0% F

Anyone not doing it this way is doing it wrong.

Damn. 60 % was always failing so bad the teacher would laugh in your face.

The lowest passing grade in any level of school I had was 70 %. More often than not, it was 75%

Why the hell should the A range be only 5 points when every other grade gets a ten point spread? That's retarded.

Why would knowing sixty percent of the material pass you?

That's retarded.

Posted

It's more than half the material.

I've always felt people have been way too harsh on scoring in the 50 percentile. I mean, it's not THAT terrible. You know more about the topic rather than less.

High School for me had this scale:

100-93 A

92-85 B

84-75 C

74-65 D

64-0 F

But most of my classes in college were the 10 points for every grade level scale that was mentioned before.

That's an argument against having D's, not against allowing A's to have the same point spread as the other grades.

It would be kind of funny if Kurt brought in CM Punk to help him out. Of course, this would never happen, but it is fun to imagine it.

That was more or less mine.

92-85 B

84-80 C

79-75 D

74-0 F

A particularly nice teacher would give have 90-99 as an A.
