This anti-bandwagon thing is getting a little old.

What bandwagon? Mystic River was an infinitely superior movie.

That's fine. You have your own opinion. But it's tiring to read people saying that LOTR doesn't deserve to win any big awards, and that they would be happy seeing anybody else win.

 

Return of the King was STILL one of the best movies of the year, even if you may think Mystic River or Lost in Translation were better. There would certainly be no shame in watching it win Best Picture, and it's silly for some to act as if it has no right winning the top Oscar.

actually the editing is one of the ones I might not have handed to ROTK. as someone who edits myself, i had a few little probs with it. But the Gondor theme from rotk ruled... Good on you Shore!

you know I have to agree with the endings, they pretty much killed the thing for me. At the end of the big fight I had it as "good" but the end knocked it down to "eh".

For me there will be shame if LOTR defeats Mystic River. I found it ok but nowhere near Mystic River(ahead of the other 3, though I haven't seen Lost in Translation).

I don't know how ROTK won best editing when the theatrical cut was over 3 hrs, and pretty much 75% of the first hour didn't really need to be in there.
