Guest O.J. Hart Report post Posted March 1, 2004 I'm in a backyard wrestling organization in southwestern, Pennsylvania. It's nothing like the major stuff that was put on some of those BYW videos, but it's still fun. The web address for our site is www.geocities.com/cameronbucar/HWF_Wrestling.html This site, and Fed was made by my friend, Cameron. It's very fun, and his dad and uncle are making a ring for us, since his parents don't let us use their trampoline and backyard anymore for security reasons. The reason is, one of our wrestlers, The Overtaker, was put in a boston crab by a wretler know as "Big Ed" (who is not under contract at this time, but will be soon) and "Big Ed" lost his balance, fell backwards, and nearly paralized the Overtaker. This site will give you all the basic specs of the company. A few gimmicks in development at this time are: Rhythm and Bruise - A white guy that thinks he's an R%B star from the 70's. Similar to an Akheem type gimmick, but might actually be sucessful. William O'Fitzen - An angry little irish man who likes to get hardcore. Similar to a Spike Dudley. Will most likely come out to something by Flogging Molly. Duke "The Dumpster" Dweller- basically the same as Drose, but is a friend we have that smells really bad and looks like a raccoon. Take a look at our site, and for reference, my gimmick is General Manager, Andy Morton, leader of Evilution.

Guest croweater Report post Posted March 1, 2004 WTF The return of OJ Hart!?! "I'm currently wrestling in my fed as I'm talking to you guys, I just left the ring to come and log on to the smart marks. It's so cool. I'm gonna go out there and body slam a big guy called Overtaker... I'll come back onto the net after I do it and tell you all about it." ........ Backyard feds have contracts? Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 ........ Backyard feds have contracts? Yeah, some do in highly competitive markets. I'm the founder and operator of National Championship Wrestling, an alliance of 12 backyard wrestling feds from six countries and three continents. We're the NWA of backyard wrestling! Here's my advice to the HWF to become more successful; that is, if you want to be successful, if not then ignore the following: 1. Don't rip off the WWE so overtly. Overtaker, Andy Morton, and a Duke Droese ripoff all just scream 'unoriginal.' 2. Post pics of your matches!! I'm assuming you'll do this once you finish making your site, as you say you're doing. 3. And take down the pic of Trish Stratus, unless she works for you guys.

Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted March 1, 2004 Calling this backyard shit "Wrestling" is an insult to EVERYONE in the business. It's a load of kids, most of them IDIOTS, trying to do what they see on tv. It's not wrestling, it's not even sports entertainment, it's simply DUMB. I'm 16 an I train to be a WRESTLER. IE in a gym, with a real TRAINER who has actually been in the business. There are such things as SAFTEY and PROPER CONDUCT, and they happen to factor in heavily to wrestling. But then again, it's obvious these guys don't know about wrestling, so it's not a problem for them.

But then again, it's obvious these guys don't know about wrestling, so it's not a problem for them. First, please stop capitalizing every other word. Second, a lot of backyard wrestlers do get professionally trained, yet they continue to wrestle in the backyard. Why? Some are too young to just go pro (i.e. they still have HS and college). Some know that they probably won't make any money at it; it's just their hobby. Still others simply don't go pro because to them it's far more fun to hang out with/wrestle their friends, write goofy storylines, and generally just have a good time. Backyard wrestling has been given a bad name by the 'Best of BYW' tapes. The company that produces those tapes isn't a wrestling promotion. They're a video production company and have never promoted a single BYW show in their 5 years of existence. They ask feds to send them tapes and they edit them. That's all they do. (Even the term 'backyard wrestling' has such a negative connotation to it; I'm trying to come up with a new term to describe what we do. Right now, I say NCW is in the 'sports entertainment' industry.) Basically, BYW is more about technical wrestling and high-flying acrobatics than about double-table barbed-wire Texas Death matches. Proof? NCW:BWA, NCW British Columbia, NCW Ireland

Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 Hollywood Fashion Plate: I'm assuming you're REALLY upset about the fact that they released a Video Game to further prove that point...right? Absolutely. BYW Inc. copyrighted the term 'Backyard Wrestling' and have portrayed it as sub-human bloodsport. That game had more in common with MK:DA then with HCTP. Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted March 1, 2004 First of all, I know what it's like to be a teen in the Wreslting industry, if you read my post you'd know that. And secondly if your fed is different, then obviously Im not talking about you! I'm saying that if some one nearly gets paralized "wrestling" on a trampoline it's not wrestling. It's not even "sports Entertainment".

But I was just trying to debunk the common misconceptions that: -BYWers aren't trained -that all BYW is is one big homage to New Jack. And I was trying to provide proof to back up my claims, lest TheMikeSC walk in here and try and crap on me.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted March 1, 2004 my point is, "hardcore" or not, alot of BYW or whatever is an insult to wrestling, as people who go out there without training or regard for the other person, let alone the wrestling business give pro wrestling a bad name. I have some firsthand experiances with "BYW" feds and they were ALL horible. So much so I felt insulted as a Student, let alone verteran wrestler (which i am not, but I can't imagine what someone like Chris Daniels feels about feds like that) I don't mean anything personal, but I have a BIG Vendetta against BYW and crap like that. Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 The preceding two 'comparisons' of BYW to other things are misleading. Being a vet or a military officer are service positions...people expect you to do work for them and they trust your superior knowledge. Backyard wrestling is a hobby. By the logic you two employ, would someone who taught themselves a language or how to play a guitar be a 'backyard student' or a 'backyard guitarist' and then be shunned and laughed at? Somehow, I doubt it.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted March 1, 2004 That is the problem. Backyarders see wrestling as a hobby. Real wreslters see it as a job or even as their life. (Sad as it may seem, I've made wrestling my life. Dedication baby!) That is another reason it's a black mark against wrestling. It makes it seem less like a sport or art and more like a moronic hobby.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 1) If you're a backyard fed that wants to be dis-associated with the BYW trademarks, why not get other feds like yours together and form some sort of 'alliance'. Call it something other than backyard wrestling...something that tells others you're not professional, but keeps you away from the backyard image, join together with other feds or your type so you can do talent swaps sometimes (free holidays)...eventually, with a bit of dedication, you'd be nearing the new 'brand' to legitimacy. 2) Anybody who can near-cripple someone by not using a boston crab correctly needs to be somewhere other than a wrestling 'ring'. Scroby 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 You know I'm reading all the claims on here and I have to say...BYW is just complete and total bs! And I mean all BYW! If your training joined a indy fed and stay in that indy fed. Just because your trained doesn't mean you need to move around the country. Anyone who gets in the buissness should know that there isn't any money when you first start out. So saying your fully train but decide to do backyard wrestling because professional doesn't pay well means your pretty much a joke and most likely weren't that good, even if you were a beginner. And yes I know a guy whose in High School and is 16 and still trains and works on shows (non-wrestling role) even through he has high school. Hardcore or not BYW is a joke and shouldn't ever be thought serious. There's nothing in BYW except making it on that tape so people can laugh at your stupid ass for making it on to that tape.
