Downhome Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 I'm a bit surprised by this, shocked really. Did any of you actually see this when it aired? "Ric Flair was on ESPN 2's Cold Pizza this morning. He said he got the Nature Boy name when he stole it from Buddy Rogers. When asked about steroid use, Flair said there was no steroid use at all in WWE, that the company randomly tests and it's absolutely prohibited. Wow, he was having those flashbacks to 1992. He said he had never done steroids and he got over on his personality and charisma. He said he'd never seen anyone do steroids but had heard rumors. Wow. He must have woke up and he thought he was Hulk Hogan on the Arsenio Hall show. It was brought up that he was about to be a Grandpa, and he said, "You're killing me. I have to wrestle The Rock on Sunday." When it was brought up they were bringing out John McCain next to talk about steroids in sports, Flair said, "If you can't get it done with your own abilities, then go home, you don't belong there." Did I mention that Lance Storm, Mick Foley and Spike Dudley are now headlining Wrestlemania on Sunday. I'm not even sure we could have the women's matches." -Dave Meltzer http://www.liveaudiowrestling.com/wo/news/...lt.asp?aID=9835 Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest Krazy Karter Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Did I mention that Lance Storm, Mick Foley and Spike Dudley are now headlining Wrestlemania on Sunday. I'm not even sure we could have the women's matches What the fuck? Was that a diss?
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 That was sarcasm from Meltzer, because Storm doesn't use steroids and Foley and Spike are quite obviously not on them. The quotation mark at the end is a typo.
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 "Oh, that's just Flair doing what's best for the company; what was he supposed to say?"
cbacon Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Did I mention that Lance Storm, Mick Foley and Spike Dudley are now headlining Wrestlemania on Sunday. I'm not even sure we could have the women's matches What the fuck? Was that a diss? No, just implying those are the only non-steriod users in the fed
MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Well, if the women didn't do anything to their bodies, then no there probably wouldn't be any womens matches. But I don't think that making a comparison between steroids and implants is a fair comparison, although on a technical level its pretty much the same thing.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 I saw it. I KNEW they'd ask him too...I had that feeling going into the interview. Anyway...Flair was very obviously uncomfortable with the discussion...he started the interview very cool and calm...and then became fidgity and cautious on this subject (and why not...the last WWE employee quoted on the subject was fired).

RavishingRickRudo Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Marvin, I think Meltzer is actually saying that the Women are on roids as well. Or, at least, "Performance Enhancers".
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Marvin, I think Meltzer is actually saying that the Women are on roids as well. Or, at least, "Performance Enhancers". Is that slang for "Fake Tits and BUTT Lifts" ?
Jobber of the Week Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Piper I think Piper was just generally talking about drugs. He never seemed like a roided body to me but he was talking about how much he hates himself for being weak and falling into the drug trap. I think the last time roids came up was one of those Vince interviews with the likes of Costas or Gumbel.
jester Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 "Well Dave, nobody in WWE uses steroids [snort]. I was just talking to [giggle] HHH, who said that he owes his physique...MUST...KEEP...STRAIGHT...FACE...to proper diet and exercise." Did lightning strike Flair during the interview?
Guest wrestlingbs Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 I wouldn't be surprised if Jazz was on the juice. And who says WWE wrestlers can't act? Look at Brock Lesnar and HHH pimp those "nutitional supliments" with a straight face.
geniusMoment Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 The only divas I could possibly see being on roids are Victoria, Shaniqua and Jackie(not gayda).

He said he got the Nature Boy name when he stole it from Buddy Rogers. When asked about steroid use, Flair said there was tons of people using and they are Triple H, Bautista, Brock, Eddie, Benoit, Steiner, etc....and that the company NEVER tests anyone they don't want to fire. Wow, he was having those flashbacks to 1992. He said he had never done steroids and he got over on his personality and charisma. He said he'd seen tons do steriods and some where mentioned above. Wow. He must have woke up and he thought he was Hulk Hogan on the Arsenio Hall show. It was brought up that he was about to be a Grandpa, and he said, "You're killing me. I have to wrestle The Rock on Sunday." When it was brought up they were bringing out John McCain next to talk about steroids in sports, Flair said, "If you can't get it done with your own abilities, then marry into Vince McMahon's family or get big in Hollywood."
Styles Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Do I know anyone who might be on steroids.... Uh, Uh.... Well, you see.... Ahh, fuck it!
LucharesuFan619 Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Correction that Meltzer posted today: Also want to clear something up from yesterday. Ric Flair did not say he had never done steroids. He was asked his opinion of steroids and said, "I don't agree with them" and then said he got over based on his talent and charisma. (thanks to Clancy Gilpatrick)
Slayer Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 It was brought up that he was about to be a Grandpa Is David gonna have a kid? Or is it his daugther (whose name escapes me)?

Guest Choken One Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 ESPN is really interested in Steroids and Wrestling for some reason
Guest Mad the Swine Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 It was brought up that he was about to be a Grandpa Is David gonna have a kid? Or is it his daugther (whose name escapes me)? There's a good interview with him in an Alex Marvez column. I don't have an exact address, but searching Google's news will find it. According to it, it's his oldest daughter, Megan.

It's a major reason that he had to have his hip replaced in the 1980s and is probably a contributing factor to having the other one replaced nearly ten years later.

I thought Flair only had three kids (David, a girl and Reid)
