Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 12, 2004 And at some point, they made up again. They didn't really "make-up." They're allies out of convenience, nothing more. That's what they always were. Show has stepped in the way between Lesnar and other people before.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Show has stepped in the way between Lesnar and other people before. Only when it benefitted him. Maybe he just got tired of it. Honestly, why not pick apart the Kane-Undertaker storyline instead? It has FAR more plot-holes than this.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Now you see, that would just make WrestleMania. no..it would have to go something like this.. *Pete Rose walks in with a wad of money* Rose: Put me down for the "Big Red Machine" Nunzio: Huh? You sure? Rose: Yes, all of it on the most dominating force in the history of sports e.. *Bud Selig Pops in* Selig : AHA! Rose: What? Selig: I knew you were betting on baseball! *Nunzio and Rose have confused looks on their faces as Selig leaves* Rose: Who's betting on baseball here, we're betting on professional wrestling! Nunzio: Sure. *Nunzio takes Rose's money*
Just call me Dan 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Austin and Lesnar pretty much fought to a draw, and Lesnar just said screw this. He has a match with Goldberg Sunday, and he was bleeding. No one got a distinct advanatge. Brock wanted to take him out quick (like on Monday) and didn't get it done, so, instead of going in for the long haul, he said "fuck it." Lesnar/Show haven't been cool since the Show/Holly restraining order and the Royal Rumble. They never made up. Heyman set up perfectly why everyone would screw him and Brock (including the heels) by stumbling over himself on whether or not to call it "Heyman's Smackdown!" or " YOUR Smackdown!" and the fact that he built up Lesnar CONSTANTLY during the segment making him look as if he was valued MUCH more than all those standing before him. There was nothing wrong with this segment other than Austin looking like a stiff and not even lifting his shoulder up at all with the punches and the fact that this was sufficient build to an Austin/Lesnar feud and Goldberg looks like HHH did in the Armageddon 2003 3-way. (Through of course, no fault of anyone but Goldberg). I haven't agreed with a lot of Austin antics lately, but this one was not warranting an Austin bashing post. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 The show simply being centred around Austin cuts the legs off everyone on that roster.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Austin and Lesnar pretty much fought to a draw, Lesnar ran away. Lesnar/Show haven't been cool since the Show/Holly restraining order and the Royal Rumble. They never made up. They've tag teamed.
jester 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Austin is the referee. THE REFEREE. He should not be the focus of anything. Goldberg should have been the one to make the appearance and do the staring down. Yeah, I know he's only got one more appearance left on his contract. Can we say that perhaps WWE should have planned Goldberg's apperances better? It's only Wrestlefuckingmania 20, after all. They couldn't have worked Goldberg's appearance out in advance so that he could properly build towards the match?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I'm watching this right now, and it's just bad. I don't care what the intent of it was, it came off bad. The better effect would have been the Smackdown crew walking to the back right away or not being there in the first place rather than Austin staring each of them down and them backing away. It's not like they all got together and decided what to do, it's that Austin taught each of them the true meaning of... well, shit, I dunno. "What the hell have we witnessed tonight" - Michael Cole My thoughts exactly. They fucking closed the last show to WM off with AUSTIN. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 One man buried an entire roster to make up for Lesnar getting over him a couple of times. This company SUCKS. Amen.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted March 12, 2004 They fucking closed the last show to WM off with AUSTIN. The non-wrestling "I'm only a special referee" Stone Cold Steve Austin mind you. The non-wrestling "I'm only a special referee" to a match where both men are leaving the company and I'm running amuck on the wrong show even. Stupid. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I'm thinking the only reason he is on TV so much is to sell shirts. How else would he draw that company money?
Guest Coffey Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I really don't understand why he is still allowed to do so much on each show. Yeah, he's more than likely still over with the marks. What do they think he's going to do though? Kick ass and drink beer? Great, but what price has to be played for him to remain in that role? Do you want people to think that because he was successful in the past that he has a free ticket to whoop everyone's ass forever? Move the man to the broadcast table or something. Then he can still be a big part of the show but not overshadow any wrestlers trying to get noticed. Austin stunning random wrestlers isn't going to accomplish anything. Neither is what he did on Smackdown.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted March 12, 2004 The main argument is that Austin is still massively over with the audience. That can't be denied and no one should try to. However, what people fail to realize is that audience in question has been dwindling... and shrinking.... and dissipating... and this has been going on in earnest since Austin turned back face at Survivor Series 2001. This has gone on long enough with no turnaround whatsoever and as time goes on it becomes even less likely that a resurgance with Austin on top will happen, especially since he is no longer active and his body is banged up beyond repair. He was advertised to be on this week's Smackdown and still part of that crowd was papered, according to people in attendance. Einstein once said that insanity is "the belief that one can get different results by doing the same thing" and that applies far too closely with WWE for my liking. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 "Why is Austin on the show so much?" "Because the Fans love him" "Why do the fans love him?" "Because he's on the show so much" *eugh*
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Damn I missed all of this. Stupid WM XIX! Revenge mode is impossible to beat... Oops sorry. Back on topic...Screw Brock & Goldberg. (proudly wears my Austin 3:16 shirt)
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Since Austin's going to be the only guy of the three returning after Mania, would you have expected them to do differently?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I'm thinking the only reason he is on TV so much is to sell shirts. How else would he draw that company money? Actually Triple R, he still does sell a hell of a lot. Merchandise for SCSA still sells a hell of a lot more than all the others do. He may not draw or wrestle, but he sells merchandise. Sadly, if they put half of the effort into everyone else's stuff, maybe he wouldn't be the only one selling stuff.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted March 12, 2004 When you haven't got the actual face wrestler (debatable) there for hype, and you're on the last show before WrestleMania XX, well, desperate times call for desperate measures. But Anglesault, you're right - just because the company weren't organised enough heading into their biggest WrestleMania ever, or so they're trying to bill it, it doesn't call for bad TV. Well, it does, really.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted March 12, 2004 It would simply be more effective to have the whole Smackdown roster facing off towards Austin and then do the old ECW-becomes-a-faction turn towards Heyman and Brock. They all wave goodbye and walk past Austin as Steve just sort of shrugs through the whole thing.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Yeah, that's what you'd think would happen, huh? But that would be a little too much focus on Austin for no reason, and that's not the way that they want to portray him. Well, it's too late now, anyway. Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 The mark in me now hopes Brock leaving WWE is a work because ......... Brock Lesnar will be ECW I highly doubt that. For someone like Brock, being moved to ECW might just be another reason for him to be a bitch and quit. Do you think he'd be ok with giving up his spot on a weekly TV show in prime time on network TV during the week, to being moved to an 11PM slot on Saturday night? haVoc 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 If they let him travel less, maybe? Highly doubt it myself. Like I said, it's the mark in me. I just really don't want to see Brock Lesnar go. I haven't been this disappointed about a wrestler leaving since Eddie was fired and Benoit's neck injury.

I haven't been this disappointed about a wrestler leaving since Eddie was fired and Benoit's neck injury. The travel thing, you have a point. I still don't think it will happen though, it's just too much of a step down for him. Besides, if you have Brock Lesnar move to ECW, who in the world would ever be able to take him on? They would be forced to move other already established talent over there also to do so. I can't see any other former ECW talent looking like any sort of challenge to him.
