The Czech Republic Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 With Detroit, Colorado, San Jose, Vancouver, Dallas, and Calgary basically locked into 1-6 in the West, the last two spots are being contested by the four teams above. The Predators have been sinking lately, the Blues and Kings have been in a dogfight that sees them lapse in and out from day to day, and Kevin Lowe says his Oilers aren't done just yet. That being said, which one of these teams won't be on the ice come the Stanley Cup Playoffs? Things to consider: The LA Kings are injury-laden, especially Pallfy and Cechmanek. The Blues haven't missed the playoffs in years. The Predators seem to be this year's Mighty Ducks. (God willing, I'm wrong.) The Oilers have pulled off late-season surges to make the cut before.
Highland Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 The Blues: When was the last time they missed the playoffs?
Tawren Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 Oilers...they are just too far back. St. Louis, LA, and the Preds are all directly behind the Flames, so I could see the Flames dropping out as well. I think St. Louis and the Preds will make it, with LA and Oilers missing.
Lightning Flik Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 Blue and Oilers, with Blues being the ones to croak badly. Oilers just because it is expected and Blues because they probably need to croak, since they haven't done so in a long time.
treble Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 Well, I'm hoping from those teams that St. Louis doesn't make it, but Calgary isn't exactly a lock. I think they're only 2 points up on the 7 and 8 teams and 3 points up on the #9 seed. I think Edmonton's too far back with too little time left and they keep getting 1 point when they need 2. So yeah, Edmonton's going to miss for sure and I hope the Blues are the other one.
The Czech Republic Posted March 14, 2004 Author Report Posted March 14, 2004 I hope Edmonton makes it in so Canada goes 6 for 6. But liek everyone says, I don't like the odds. I don't want Nashville in but they probably will be. St. Louis and LA, I really don't have any feelings towards.
Gert T Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 I love the Blues, but until they prove me wrong, the longest streak in professional sports (24 years I believe) will be over.
the max Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 I hate the Blues. I like seeing new blood in the playoffs, so I'm pro-Nashville. Flames and Oil...hmmm....Either/or
The Czech Republic Posted March 14, 2004 Author Report Posted March 14, 2004 I like seeing new blood in the playoffs, so I'm pro-Nashville. And you call yourself a hockey fan.
The Czech Republic Posted March 14, 2004 Author Report Posted March 14, 2004 As well you should. Phoenix, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, and Miami are not hockey towns and may not be for much longer.
the max Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 Hey now, Nashville, Atlanta and to a certain extent, Sunrise/Ft. Lauderdale support their teams. No need to move them. That and I want to be able to watch Roberto Luongo as much as possible.

That and I want to be able to watch Roberto Luongo as much as possible. It's ironic that the Philips Arena has the support tresses spelling out the city name...Atlanta's never supported anything. Can't argue that the Hartford Whalers were outdrawing the Carolina Hurricanes until their Cinderella run and couldbe approaching sub-Whaler numbers now that the Canes cooled off. Luongo is not long for the Panthers. Trust me on this.
Slingshot Suplex Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 The Blues better make it. I kinda wanna try and get to a playoff game....especially since I haven't dragged myself up to St Louis for a regular season game yet. And I think they are unbeaten in 6 games so they need to keep that up. Or I could try and road trip to Nashville.

What are you talking about?? everyone loves to take their family to a wholesome outing at the Gaylord Entertainment Centre in Nashville.
