Hey I love this show and I'm sure there's plenty of other guys here who dig the show, so if you're watching and on the thread tonight come here and post.

Maybe we can make this a weekly thing.

I was only a Blackjack player before this show started, I'm going to Vegas this summer and I'm hoping to play in a Casino tournament, in fact there's a No Limit Tournament coming up soon in my area with a 70 dollar buy-in, but I'd need the whole weekend off work and I can't swing that right now :-(

That was a dumb lay down with a QK suited.

Evelyn Ng is fucking hot. Shauna Hiatt isn't exactly chopped liver either.

Regarding the players, Gus is a damn good player, but there's something about him that annoys me.

Now, has Chris "Jesus" Ferguson appeared on the WPT besides the promos?

I think was on a tournament last season, haven't seen him this season yet.

I have been watching WPT for some time now. Some of my favorites aren't in it though.

I wish I had seen this thread last night...and didn't have to work during the initial showing.

Great idea for a thread though, so hopefully it gets some play every week.

He's usally playing at the tourneys, but doesn't make the final table.

The show is good. The recent trend in poker shows has turned me into quite an avid poker player.

However, I do perfer ESPN's coverage of the World Series of Poker to the World Poker Tour. The commentary is better and the event is more significant. I wish ESPN would release it on DVD.

Why use real money? I rather play the half-ass poker on Yahoo for free.

Yahoo usually doesn't pay out real money, though.

The download is free, and you can play for either real money or fake. There are over. There are over 3,000 tables that you can play for fake money on Texas Hold'em alone. There are other games too but I stick to Texas Hold'em. Last night I went into a table with $4,000 and came out with $86,000.

Screw ESPN...this channel is the American channel I want to get the most but can't.

At least Season 1 is out on DVD.

If you get CityTV, they apparently carry the WPT on Sundays.

I'm using PacificPoker.com. Same deal as PartyPoker.com. It's a little more fun than Yahoo, I think.

DAMN! Wish I'd known about this when it started. Thanks, though...I'll at least make sure to watch the second half of the season.

Some of my favorites in the game would be Kirill Gerasimov, Phil Hellmuth, and Phil Ivey is a long favorite of mine. Im sure one of these guys will make it to the final table come July.

Gerasimov - never heard of him.

Hellmuth - an ass. His book is vastly overrated, too.

Ivey - This guy, I like. He could be around for a good long while.

The guy I really like is Daniel Negreanu (being a fellow Canadian and all). A solid all-around player, and I would be shocked if he didn't make one of these events really soon.

Ivey seems like a cool customer. But from what I've seen so far, he's more a Phil Mickelson than Tiger Woods when it comes to the "big" poker tournaments.

Howard Lederer is another guy I like. Not the most interesting player, but he's a very deliberate one. Probably one of the better players to study when it comes to learning the game.

I'm still impressed with Chris Moneymaker. Sure, there was some luck involved in his winning the World Series of Poker, but he played great and has good instincts. And that was in his first "live" tournament...

I wish I got the Travel Channel here. :( Bloody Comcast. ::eggs Rant's house out of spite::

As for online poker, I play on Ultimatebet.com. I've yet to try the other ones, mainly because I don't want a plethora of real-money accounts out there. And yes, I only play for real money. Playing for fake money or play chips is pointless. No one in those rooms plays the same as they would if they had some real cash on the line. It's easy to call an all-in raise when you can just get 10,000 more play chips at the end of the hand; it's a lot harder when you have a flush, the board is paired, and you're fearing the full house that pwns you from the chap putting you all in.

Gerasimov is a Russian. He's a pretty smart player. Young too.

Hellmuth is an ass but I like how he plays. He brings something to the table that no one does. He plays with his opponents and its fun to watch him.

Moneymaker is a good poker player but I wont forgive him for beating the Italian in the 2003 Championships. His name escapes me right now.

Sammy Farha (sp).

Farha's from Lebanon. Was it Benvisitsi?

Actually, his beat on Humberto Brenes (calling an all-in bet while holding pocket eights to Brenes' pocket aces with only two cards left to come and a K-9-2 flop) was heinous.

I think the schedule is Wednesday night 9:00 has the new shows which get repeated on the weekend around noon. Not sure but I think the next WPT show will be from France. There is also another No Hold'em Poker show that gets shown on Fox Sports Network around 3:00 PM but I forget which day it is on.

Well, tomorrow night's is from the Aviation Club in Paris. I don't like it as much when they leave North America...you don't see the really recognizable players in Europe as much. I didn't recognize a single name in the lineup. I wish Devilfish Ulliot was playing...he's probably the European player I'd most like to see.

FSN has some "late night poker" show but to be honest it's a lot more boring than the ESPN and Travel Channel shows.

As for Late Night Poker, I dont like it either. The commentating is boring and its not as fun to watch as The Travel Channels or ESPN's poker shows like Starvenger said.

At least the WPT will try to make us care about the players (note: having Shauna Hiatt interview them in a bikini would help greatly).

Stuff like Late Night Poker doesn't make that investment, and as a result it's not as intruiging. The Celebrity Poker Showdown was somewhat interesting, but frankly it was more because of Kevin Pollack and the comments from the eliminated players than the actual play.
