Peep the title, and gimme some suggestions, keeping in mind that the college radio station has to go by FCC regulations. The Streamcast can be found here. It isn't up at the present time due to coming back from Spring Break, but whatever.

The show will be called The Lovin' Spoonful and will be Thursdays from 8-10pm.

Go ahead, gimme requests, suggestions for the format, whatever.

You're the one with the radio show, you should know what to play. But, since you're asking.........

" Song to the siren" by This Mortal Coil

" In the event that something should go terribly wrong" by Everytime I Die

" Publicity" by GZA (it's clean, so you can get away with it)

" Tigress" by Songs:Ohia

" Anthem for a seventeen year old girl" by Broken Social Scene (dedicate this one to me and you'll be my personal Jesus)

" One foot in front of the other" by Bright Eyes.

" Song Seven" by Interpol

I figure, most kids are your college are fairly mainstream in what they listen to so the list above would be something different for them. Of course I have no idea what I'm talking about here. College kids do love their indy treats.

Very doubtful, it barely reaches all of the campus. Tiny, tiny transmitter. I'll let everyone know when the streamcast works, that'll be your best bet.

Tentative playlist for The Lovin' Spoonful, March 18th, 2004:

1) DJ Ricey -- "Castles in the Sky (breakbeat remix)"

2) Digweed -- "Flying"

3) [mixed with the previous track] Digweed -- "Heaven Scent"

(break for talk)

4) Dick Dale and his Del-Tones -- "Surfing Drums"

5) Happy End -- "Kaze Wo Atsumete"

6) Bobby Darin -- "Don't Rain on my Parade"

7) Kylie Minogue -- "Promises"

(break for talk)

8) Whatever Ryan Adams song my cohort phenagles me into playing.

9) Clinic -- "The Bridge"

10) Juno Reactor and Don Davis -- "Mona Lisa Overdrive"

11) Acid Bath -- "What Color is Death"

12) Dimmu Borgir -- "Puritania"

(break for talk)

13) DJ Mystic -- "Open Your Eyes"

14) The Avalanches -- "Since I Left You"

15) Paul Van Dyk -- "Nothing But You"

16) Kylie Minogue -- "Secret"

(break for talk)

17) Prince -- "Little Red Corvette"

18) Echo and the Bunnymen -- "Do it Clean"

19) Jump Little Children -- "Body Parts"

That'll probably be all I can squeeze into the time I've got. I'll probably run over a little, since I WILL talk and not just say what song just played and what's next. The breaks above are where I'll actually say something of substance or have someone come in, as a couple of people I know want to come on and plug some student activity or group. Won't really matter if I go over, the place is pretty slack. I could play all night if I wanted to.

EDIT: I was thinking about that Tim, but no stations have been playing it here, so I don't really get the running gag.

Can't go wrong with The Cure, Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin. Hell, maybe you could bust out some Rolling Stones or Johnny Cash too?

Damn, Squirt, when you do an adults-only show, you don't go halfway, do you? Why don't you play Tom Lehrer's "Fuck You" song while you're at it. But seriously, my question: why name your show after the greatest "weird" singer of all time, yet not play any of his stuff?

Waits doesn't swear very often; I don't think he's said "fuck" in any of his songs, and the 14 tracks listed above all contain at least one use of it.

Anyway, I play enough Tom during my normal show.

See if you can track down Pearl Jam's "Insane" (also titled "Ramblings III").

Lyrics:

fuck me in my brain

fuck me in my brain

you fuckin' little cunt

you're drivin' me insane

fuck me in the brain

fuck me in the brain

you're drivin' me, drivin' me, insane

fuck me in my life, hah

you wanted to be my wife

fuck me in my brain...fuck

fuck me in the brain

i'm ready for you

i don't believe nothin' even if it's true, no

fuck me, fuck me in my brain

fuck me, my ears are open in my brain

fuck me

you think i care 'bout those emotions you wear

you think i care 'bout the way you wear your veil

you think our love huh

is so far above

fuck me

fuck me

fuck me

fuck me

Here's an mp3 of it (the brackets in the link screw up linking it, so just copy the address from below):

EDIT: If you had called my cell phone, then I would've been worried.

If I'd called your cell phone... I would've wondered how the hell I got the number, since I don't know how to do any of that detective shit.

TRITEC is trying to listen too, but RealPlayer is being ghey for her.
