EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Tomorrow (Sunday) Morning at 7am Eastern, Veterans Stadium will be imploded. One of the Philly news organizations will doubtless air it live, and I can't wait for the fun.
Guest jpclemmons Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 one of the few cookie cutter stadiums I liked.
Spaceman Spiff Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 In a way, I'll miss the Vet. The only home baseball stadium I"ve known, and I've seen countless games there. Can't wait to see a game at the new place, though.
the pinjockey Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I think all of the major stations (CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox) are covering it. As well as Comcast, who I think is having a two hour Vet retrospective afterward.
Papacita Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 My brother used to work at the Vet back in the day. I remember the time he got me an Eagles practice ball signed by a few of the players. I wonder whatever happened to that ball?
razazteca Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 The Vet had the worst field conditions in football, right?
the pinjockey Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 Easily. That is one of the reasons it was a great place. Visiting teams literally feared for their careers just stepping out on the field.
Guest Vitamin X Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 I'm sure Michael Irvin will be glad to see it go.

Guest Anglesault Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 ::Another One Bites the Dust plays over the thread:: One less ugly as shit stadium to look at.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 21, 2004 Author Report Posted March 21, 2004 Its all over. Fun times for all. Greg Luzinski and the Phillie Phanatic did the honors, and the stadium refused to go down. Actually, it took the planned 62 seconds, and its all a pile of rubble. It'll take them about six months to completely clear the rubble. EDIT: I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Philly spectators dropping the F-bomb in the process.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 21, 2004 Author Report Posted March 21, 2004 I find this amusing. One guy screams "fuck you" when the Vet falls. Every time they show the replay with that guy in earshot, its still there.
C Dubya 04 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Somehow I managed to drag my ass out of bed at 6:30 to get down there on time to see it. It was fucking amazing to see come down. Looked like it was clockwork. Tons of people out too. Quite a display.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 I'd like to get a stray brick from the aftermath of something like that.
