TNA Notes From The 3/22 Observer

Recommended Posts

1.Part of the change in going towards "wrestling reinvented is to get a tv deal. Fox Sports is insisting on a clean product. At this point there is no deal. What is being talked about is a try out on Sunday nights. This would be similar to the tryout FSN gave UFC that didn't lead to a deal even though ratings were strong, because sponsors shied away. The shows would be taped Thursdays in Orlando and if they deal comes through they would likely have a regular 40 man roster.

2. There has been alot of talk lately about ownership. The people who backed the Randy Savage rap cd have expressed interest in the company. Thus far nothing has happened here either, but their is hope Panda will either step up to the plate and spend the money to upgrade the product and do television or get rid of it and let someone else take it over.

3. ICP left over booking differences.

Well...if Fox Sports is the reason they are concentrating on more match time and less crap...than I say THANK YOU Fox Sports.

I wonder how many people they'd have to add to have a regular 40 man roster. It sounds intriguing.

Probably 10-15 more people. Hmmmm....time for me to try and name the TNA roster.

Jeff Jarrett

Raven

A.J. Styles

D'lo Brown

Abyss

Michael Shane

Shane Douglas

Chris Harris

James Storm

Ron Killings

Konnan

B.G. James

Kid Kash

Glen Gilberti

Johnny Swinger

David Young

Sonny Siaki

Simon Diamond

The Naturals

Kevin Northcutt

Slash

Sinn

C.M. Punk

Julio Dinero

Elix Skipper

Sonjay Dutt

Jerry Lynn

Chris Sabin

Low Ki

Christopher Daniels

Chris Vaghn

Don Harris

Thats about 33-34, so they'd need about 5 or so more people.

Some of those people aren't counted as full time regulars though.

The people under contract do. All of the people we see every week have contracts (except maybe David Young). Low Ki can't have one because Zero-One doesn't release their touring schedule far enough ahead of time...but they book him whenever they can. Guys who tour with other Japanese companies (Daniels, D-Lo) do have contracts.

I'm not sure if the Naturals do or not...probably not. El Leon no way, Dustin Rhodes, no way (I think he's going on Zero-One tours too actually), Slash and Sin I don't know.

Damn, that drops it to about a 25-man roster.

time for TNA to bring out the little black book labeled "WWF Castoffs" which lists about 300 people who worked for WWF in the last 10 years (including development people like Mike Sanders who got cut from them)

Is Traci under contract? What about Red?

Does anyone know what Sean O'Haire is up to? They were giving him a totally kick ass gimmick. Then go and COMPLETELY fuck it up by teaming him with PIPER. There is your WWE Logic for you. It's almost exactly like what is happening to Ultimo. They promote him and then kinda drop him after 2 weeks. What's up with that? Anyways, I would like to see Sean O'Haire. He could be a nice big guy. I just LOVED his intense guy gimmick when he was tagging up with Jindrak in WCW. I didn't much care for the rest of that group, which I can't remember the name of for the life of me except that it started with an R I think, except for Reno, but the tag team of Jindrak and O'Haire was a nice team. Yes, they were GREEN as hell, but you could see that they had potential. Then WCW went and split them up. GGGRRRRR

Anyways, sorry about the rant. Time for me to shut up and go back to my hermit hole and come back out in about 2 months to post once again

<--NBT mark. Palumbo came into his own, O'Haire was ruling ass (SWANTON FROM THE BOTTOM ROPE, GUYS, C'MON!), Stasiak actually didn't completely suck for a bit (I think his match with Booker T at Great American Bash is an underrated **1/2 affair), Jindrak was decent enough, and Mike Sanders was GOD on the stick.

Anyways, I'd suggest getting as many unknown indy guys as needed. Dr. Heresy is an awesome mic worker and is insanely charismatic, which makes up for his decent ring abilities, and there are a few indy tag teams that could be brought in to thicken both the roster and the tag division.

There are so many TREMENDOUS non-star Indy guys they can add:

Alex Shelley

Jimmy Jacobs

Ace Steele

Nigel Mcginniss

BJ Whitmer

Joey Ryan

Jimmy Rave

Austin Aries

Danny Daniels

Roderick Strong

B-Boy

That's just off the top of my head.

They could probably get some of the talent from NWA Wildside and NWA Florida to fill out any holes in the roster, and Team Mexico could probably be brought in more often considering Florida is closer to Mexico than Tenn.

Billy Fives

C.W. Anderson

Caprice Coleman

Danny Doring

Jerelle Clark

Jimmy Rave

Justice

Murder One

Onyx

Roderick Strong

Scoot Andrews

Slim J

Steve Corino

Steve Madison

They could all be brought in as regulars on the roster. I would even tolerate the Shane Twins if it would help TNA get a weekly television show.

A lot of the NWA Wildside guys being mentioned - Coleman, Rave, Onyx, Murder One, etc. - have worked the Xplosion tapings a number of times, due to Bill Behren's job in booking Xplosion. And Doring, Clark, Rave, and Steele have all worked for TNA, as someone else mentioned.

I guess that was a brainfart...I just started reeling off some names that came to mind.

The Ace Steele thing was a fucking joke too. Take a world class worker and throw him in short little spotfests that he doesn't excell at, and then blast him for not doing well at them. Not that they would ever use him right, anyway.
