fairtoflair7 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2004 Here are my Final Predicted Standings for each conference: 1. TB (I want the Isles to play them seeing how we've domianted them lately) 2. Philly 3. Tor ( Eat your hearts out Canadians) 4. Ott (All in the goaltending) 5. Bos 6. MTL 7. NJ (In for a tough time against Philly) 8. NYI West: 1. Det( Should be a good series with NSH) 2. Col (Key also is goaltending) 3. SJ 4. Van (This one is not too bad as well) 5. Dallas 6. Cal ( I think they could win this) 7. STL 8. NSH
Guest Report post Posted March 22, 2004 Sorry, but the Kings will be in the West.
treble 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Ok, Edmonton can slide into the 7 slot and Dallas still has an outside shot at 2nd in the conference so all can be right with the world. Seriously, though, even though as little as a week ago I didn't think they could make it, I think Edmonton has a really good shot to sneak in there, certainly better than LA's chances (having said this, fully expect the Kings to beat the Oilers later tonight). I hope it's St. Louis that they boot out should they make it in, as I kind of want Nashville to make it, too. In the East, I don't know if Tampa can hold on to the #1 slot. They've been shaky for the last few games and if Philly, Boston, Toronto, Ottawa or even Montreal or Jersey get hot in the next few games they could sneak in there. Although I do like your seedings there, giving us a Montreal/Toronto series, even though I'd rather see that happen in the 2nd or 3rd round, if possible. It's too hard to even predict the outcome now, since everything's so close. Obviously, being a Leafs fan I'd like them to finish 1st in the conference (and the league, too, since I'm greedy), but they can't win on Long Island these past few years and if the Isles stole a game at the ACC then Pat Quinn could find his head on a stick paraded through downtown Toronto. Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2004 LA just has that luck factor that no one else seems to get when it comes to having to make the playoffs...they will be the 7 seed.
fairtoflair7 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I just can't see the Flyers coming out of the East. They always choke and can't score or get bad goaltending down the stretch. It will prob be 30 yrs and counting. NJ is always dangerous but I don't think they are good enough this yr. Plus I hate the way they play. The trap pisses me off and ruins hockey so I want them to lose ASAP. I'm also glad that Minn isn't going to make it. I just had to sit recently through an Isles-Min game and its was horrible. i was almost literally put to sleep .. no flow and 1-2-2 is in full effect with minimal shots. Not how hockey is supposed to be played. The complte opposite was the Anaheim/Det game last nite. Great stuff, High scoring, Big saves. numerous chances... now thats how hockey is supposed to be played. I really want Nash to make it b/c it woudl be good for hockey and especially that city b/c they've never had something like Playoff hockey before. Thier owner would also make some $ which is good and they would have a number of sell outs. I also like Calgary b/c they are in the same situation that the Isles were in a few yrs back. They haven't made the playoffs in 6 yrs like the Isles did and that city is desperate for some april hockey. Also they haven't won a a SERIES since they won the cup in 89. So they are due for something.

No more plucky underdogs from unconventional hockey towns in the finals, okay? We had Carolina. We had Anaheim. Where did they end up? Worse than ever. The Predators won't do anybody any good--they'll just lower ratings from hockey fans who would rather see popular teams of the West, teams like Detroit, Colorado, Dallas, and dare I say Edmonton. My God, I've been feeling more and more like the Anglesault of hockey.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 One thing is, and I'll say this. Toronto will barely survive the first round.
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 And your point is? If you're saying that Toronto will at least survive the first round, albeit barely, that is great. Because I know I can't say that confidently for any team in the East.

Because I know I can't say that confidently for any team in the East. Thats it, Toronto is not that great of a team, and will get runned down against any team in the East. They can't compete, and are usually outplayed in any game against major eastern teams. Albiet that my team will probably get knocked out in the first round and struggle in the second round if possible, but it'll all come down to who plays who in the playoffs, and really I wouldn't want to play against Phili, Boston and Montreal since those three are the hottest team going right now. KingPK 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2004 That's because no one in Boston is going to give a crap until they actually get past the first round, unlike the total gag job against Montreal a few years back. I think they could do well, but they aren't playing well against Toronto right now.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2004 I see the B's getting to the second round at the furthest. I know they're a good team and all, and an Original Six at that, but I can't get excited about the Boston Bruins for some reason. Likewise, the Flyers and Blues. Other good teams with some history, but I'm so conditioned to their underachieving that if they did make it far, I'd feel ripped off. By the way, the Oilers have now made it into 7th place. Watch out, Avs.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2004 Other than that debacle against the Wild a week or so ago, the only team that the B's look really bad against is Toronto. Makes me nervous about a potential playoff matchup. The good news, though, is that their good nights have greatly outnumbered their bad nights lately. The Bruins looked freaking awful tonight. And Czech Republic, I can see rooting against the Blues (firing Quenneville was bullshit) and the Flyers (hell, other than JR there's absolutely no reason to root for the fucking Flyeres) but why root against the B's? Local fans can not feel the love, what with Jacobs being such a dick, but for out of towners? The B's are a team that you should like, they don't play the trap, they play a fun style to watch, and they have a bunch of physical old-school players (Thornton, Boynton, O'Donnell, Lapointe)

I'm just so tied up in allegiances between feeling obligated to cheer for my hometown Hawks, and then pissing off idiot American hockey fans by liking the Sens and Oilers, I don't have time to root for the B's. But if they draw New Jersey in the first round, you'd better believe I'm behind Boston, 110%.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2004 Well besides last night's crap ass performance by my B's they are arguably the best team in Hockey all around right now. Great goaltender, one of the biggest teams, one of the fastest teams, and one of the most physical teams. Put those all together in the playoffs and it's gonna be real hard for them to NOT be in the finals this year.
treble 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2004 The thing is, there are about 7 teams in the East that 'should' be able to make the Finals. And I don't like the Isles much, but if they steal a game or two on the road, it could be tough for the other team to win on Long Island and before you know it, we have an upset. Three or four teams in the East alone that have a really good shot at winning it all are going to be gone after the first round.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2004 There are 4 teams in the Northeast division alone that are Cup caliber teams ... and the Sabres aren't much further behind. I wouldn't be shocked to see Ottowa, Boston, Toronto or Montreal go to the Cup, and would be more surprised if it wasn't one of those teams that got there. The 2003-04 Northeast Division is easily the greatest division ever...even better than the 1992-93 Adams Division.
