George W Bush makes joke about lack of WMDs

Recommended Posts

"Sorry if I don't find it funny that Bush is joking about his own lies and deceit, SAME goes for Kerry."

That's your opinion the President lied about WMD's. Many people don't believe he lied. So it's not suprising they don't mind the President making jokes about it.

Kerry making a joke is beyond belief, but one directed at himself is has rare has Haley's Comet.

It was questionable humor. Did I find it funny? Yep, sure did. But, will everyone find it funny? Nope. Will it offend some people? Sure. Almost any and every joke does. I am glad he is joking about this. Get a sense of humor and get over it.

Even if you don't think the president lied, then for the mere fact that our troops are over there dying, yet Bush is making fun of how we can't find the WMDs seems a little fucked up to me. I am sure the troops would love to hear that ringing endorsement, or maybe they would look to hijack airforce one, and send Bush out to the middle of the desert to find some WMDs.

Whatever you think about Bush, you have to agree his chances of getting reelected are shrinking with each passing day. A year ago I HATED the guy, but I always thought he'd get reelected because of the ununified front of Democrats opposing him. But now, Bush seems to be creating bad publicity ON PURPOSE! With Clark saying to the already sceptical press that there was little reason to invade Iraq for WMD, why the hell make a joke like that?

John Kerry's the Democratic canidate. Bush has a very good chance of winning.

Plus, you're only hearing from the anti-Bush people. The undecided voters tend to stay quite, and make their voices heard at the polls.

Who cares what the press thinks? They've never liked Bush, and that will never change.

what do you all feel about Bush's campaign in 2000 joking that McCain had spent too much time in the POW camp and it made him go crazy, when they differed on some issues during their campaign? Was this also just a cute little joke?

What endorsement? He was making a joke, about not finding WMD. Doesn't mean he doesn't think they'll be found eventually.

As for the military being upset. Some might be, but the President is very popular, and most understand he wasn't attempting to make fun of the Men and Women who've died in Iraq.

I didn't think he was "making fun" of them either. I wouldn't credit him with being THAT much of a bastard, however I just feel it was an ill-advised joke. And I still don't quite get why he would be joking about not finding WMDs in the first place, whether anyone thought it was a funny joke or not.

My guess he's making jokes out of disbelief they haven't been found. You know sometimes you're so certain of something, and when it turns out not to be true. You can't help but shake your head and almost laugh. Maybe, the President took it one step further.

Oh shut it. Everytime you come in here you get shot down because you are a Chamberlain wannabe. If you can't add anything into the conversation, just go back to thinking up conspiracy theories that revolve around Courtney Love, okay?

And in all honesty... does this really deserve two pages? I mean, this isn't even really current events; it's fluff. I think we should really cut down on the useless bullshit being posted on both sides on the political spectrum and keep it to, I dunno, something a bit more intelligent?

Don't you have some other board you can pollute with your mindless drivel?

Yes, we get it --- you are a weak, spineless slug. Yes, we get it --- you hate Bush. Yes, we get it --- you have nothing to add to a conversation outside of a foul stench.

Now go back to HD or whatever and continue your borderline homoerotic obsession with AS, yould you?

As I've said, this is their manufactured scandal de jour. The Democratic Party is the least funny group of people this side of a Carrot Top family reunion. Their sense of humor has been misplaced with an indignant rage that knows no bounds.

Let them rage on this and look like the goofs they are.

Or he's making fun of the image that HE should have known what the CIA, FBI, MI-6, and every intel agency on Earth didn't.

I don't blame him for that. With that kind of evidence, I would have wanted to make them disarm, too. I would have gone about it differently, of course, but if it were up to me, there would be people over there looking for WMDs just as there is right now.

The thing is, I wouldn't actually make light about the fact that I was misled. I wouldn't intentionally bring it up before a live audience and a nationally televised broadcast, and I wouldn't make humor of it.

GW Bush, as the president of the United States, should NOT be making silly jokes as it is. He's supposed to be the leader of the biggest and richest democracy in the world - other world leaders must be thinking he's a complete idiot. As for him making light of the WMD or lack thereof, good. It only adds another nail into his political coffin. I actually almost find it beyond belief that Bush did this.

Apparently, you're unaware that at this little shindig, the President is expected to do a little comedy bit.

Now, if I were President, I wouldn't as the Washington press corps tend to be sniveling little turds, but it's not like Bush just decided to crack a few jokes for the heck of it here.

As much as I love the guy, you can't have Ben Stein host this dinner every time a Republican is in office...

I'd stick PJ O'Rourke up there.

Or Ted Kennedy --- but I guess his comedy tends to be of the UNINTENTIONAL variety.

I'm really tired of this "Bush lied about WMD" stuff. Let us switch it up a bit.

The CIA lied about WMD. The UN lied about WMD. The FBI lied about WMD. And guess what, since some of those people are democrats then DEMOCRATS lied about WMD. I guess then EVERYONE lied but only Bush is the true liar right?

See? Switch it up a bit and call everyone who truly 100% believed they had the WMD liars and not just the one person you hate.

God, I'm not a republican and the odds of me voting for Bush are slim but this "Bush lied" stuff is getting pathetic.

Well at least he's consistent... he's just as bad of a comedian as he is a president

I like jokes. I'll vote for Bush!

aw...it's so cute when war mongers put on their "Friendly" face.

One of those is mine. Add to that all the jokes made at the expense of those who find the jokes offensive and there are numerous examples of non "Contributive" posts. Yet You feel the need to single me out. I realize I'm not the most educated person but my opinion is just as valid as anyone's.

I didn't realize I had to astound everyone by copying and pasting my arguements and reciting the dogrel of various political figures in the media. If I had known I'm sure I could have found something suitably cutting, perhaps placing the blame of not find WMD's on Iraqi Children or something.

I've noticed ther disturbing trend that it's ok for "established" CE posters to post useless drivel (MikeSC's Jimmy Carter thread had to be the most shockingly dumb defence of the Bush Administration i've seen on this board.)

As far as the oh so clever joke about Courtney Love, well dang dude. I've never heard that one before! You're pretty clever. What will you come up with next, the "Cobain was a useless junkie and a selfish prick" arguement? Go ahead. Because I partially agree. I've never seriously espoused the theory that Courtney did away with Kurt here. I've suggested the possibility and shown some "evidence" supporting that it might have happened. However, It isn't my personal belief. My posting name is a joke. Cobain probably did kill himself, which is selfish and wrong.

If Michael Moore or George Carlin or Bill Maher made those jokes, all of you conservatives would have hemmed and hawed about how offensive they are and would have questioned the individual's patriotism and told them to go to France, etc etc etc.

Sick - A President exploiting the deaths of American servicepeople; their pain, suffering, loss, and courage...

Sick - His followers attempting to defend it with such defenses as 'Liberals have no sense of humor', 'theyre really are wmds so its fair to joke about them', and 'if you dont agree with Bush you are a spineless weakshit'...

Out of curiosity...how many need to die and suffer before this man's behavior and policies loses its 'humor'?

On the other hand, late-night comics like Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, and Craig Kilborn have been making jokes about the same thing (much funnier jokes, admittedly) for months now. No conservative I know of has said anything like what you lot are postulating. And no liberal has attacked them for daring to mock the war effort.

So, you're wrong. Move on to the next bout of whining, posturing, and shrill, screeching lies, please.

Of those I watch Letterman and I don't really like his jokes on the subject.

Add to that the fact the President of the Country is supposed to be above such petty humor.

Well then you've never seen a White House Corr. Dinner.

Not me.

I would have make a Mikey fat joke and shrugged off Carlin and Maher, like I almost always do.

Oh, MikeSC just jumped off the cliff. Now it's my turn.

The guy turned the whole supposed purpose of this war in which he sent over 500 troops to die and more injured into an "Oops! This whole horrible war was a silly misunderstanding! Silly 'Ol Bush! Ha ha ha!" moment. THAT'S why it's not funny. Well, it was funny on the most surface level (I laughed when I heard it was the President showing pictures of himself looking under tablecloths for WMDs), but when I realized that he was making light of the deathtrap he created, well that just seems like an asshole thing to do.

Plus, it's the kind of sitcom situation that really makes him look like Trey Parker's "That's My Bush!" image of Bush. Except the idea of "comic sitcom folly in goverment leads to horrible war" is only funny in fiction.

I'm not a liberal. But it's amazing the lengths to which a lot of people here defend every thing the man does, like a bunch of robots.

And if I were him, I would have premiered a new BarneyCam movie or something. Don't actually make light that you went and INVADED A COUNTRY because intelligence, even worldwide intelligence, was wrong.

You should be angry that happened. You should be trying to get to the root of that and find out how it occured. You shouldn't be making a joke out of it.
