JoeDirt Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I loved everything about this new Bradshaw. I like how they call him "John 'Bradshaw' Layfield". I like how he brings his book out for no other reason other than to wave it around in peoples faces. I like how he's always smiling. Good pacing and good delivery. I actually WANT to see more of Bradshaw now. I agree with all about the quality of the promo. However, something tells me this smark love will disappear once he wrestles again and we all get a good reminder of why we don't like him. Or maybe he'll carry himself differently now with the new gimmick? We'll just have to wait and see. I think Smarks will bitch since he's not really a WRESTLER...but he might be able to play a heel well and just beat the crap out of the face, getting him heat. I don't know what length of matches he can do, but I guess we'll see.
Guest JMA Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 What the hell is wrong with NYC? Nothing. But a large number of "Wallstreet" types live there. It doesn't HAVE to be NYC. It could be Washington, D.C. But he would get more heel heat in the south if he was announced as being from NYC, though. Not to mention there have been jokes about Bradshaw being an "honorary New Yorker" backstage.
Invictus Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 What the hell is wrong with NYC? As it relates to Texas, most Texans don't seem to take too kindly to "yuppies" from NYC. So if they changed that to his hometown he would get heavy heat from the southern crowd, ESPECIALLY Texas. Geez, don't you guys watch King Of The Hill?

I can imagine the Undertaker's JD match getting the main event slot with Guerrero and Bradshaw getting a nice little 5-10 minute match, that will probably expose Bradshaw anyway. The next two months are going to be interesting to say the very least.
Guest JMA Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Anyone remember this thread? Oooooh, eerie! That's great. I know.
JoeDirt Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 At the very least it's NEW people getting a push...I'm enjoying Smackdown more than RAW right now, I have to say. And this show didn't even have Rey wrestle.
Guest AndrewisyourHero Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Being as I missed Smackdown, anyone got a pic of the new Bradshaw?

Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Once Bradshaw steps in the ring for a match everyone will shit on him more than birds to on a statue in central park. But his heel act seems OK now, I have to wait a few weeks before giving him the preverbial verbal blowjob like everyone else is.

Don't worry about match stars...go back to being a mark, it's more fun that way! DAMN THAT SELL OUT BRADSHAW! HE MUST PAY!
JoeDirt Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I missed it, but how did they introduce him? Still as Bradshaw?

Like in 2000 when I was really into the Big Show. I was into his character, it didn't matter how slowly he moved around the ring.
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I was watching Smackdown and as Bradshaw (or "JBL" as us insiders say) started cutting his promo I said "Damn. Now I have to watch Smackdown more often." Fuck allyall haters, Bradshaw is perfectly fine in the ring (aka Stiff) and with Eddie he'll be able to fuck shit up.

Yeah...come on now everyone, jump on the Jibbel (JBL - Bradshaw) bandwagon!
JoeDirt Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Here's what Wade Keller said about Jibbel: "-Bradshaw came out with his new gimmick dressed up in a suit and a cowboy hat. He explained that he was going to use the change in G.M. to try to get Faarooq his job back, but instead he decided it would be better to focus on his career. He said he is now to be known as John "Bradshaw" Layfield. He talked about how he has succeeded in ways the fans never will because unlike him, they're too afraid of failure to even try. He said his portfolio has outperformed the market seven of the last seven years. He talked about his Fox News commentator position, his financial advice book, and his pending book on how to strengthen America (that should be good considering his thoughtful advice after 9-11 was to "turn the Middle East into a parking lot," as if killing millions of innocent civilians while the terrorists hid in their isolated caves would help keep America safe). He gave perhaps his best promo ever, but went on and on a bit too long. Quite a bit too long. But it was a good heel promo otherwise. He said he had been sidetracked by wanting to have a good time and drink beer, but now he was going to get serious about his wrestling career." And about the end of the show: "WINNER: Guerrero via DQ at 16:30. STAR RATING: *** -- A decent three star match, but it didn't feel great if that's the best Smackdown has to offer now. I was surprised they gave away a match they should have built anticipation for instead. Throwing it on TV right away actually cheapened the impact it could have had. It just felt like a 2002 mid-card match shoved into the main event due to a lack of options, which is what Smackdown should be avoiding right now."
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 "What's all this JBL Jabba about" Have we ruined Banky's fandom yet?

This explains why Eddie is gonna be a long-term champion... There is NO ONE credible enough to beat him except for Big Show (injured) and Kurt Angle (soon to be Dynamite kid 2.0)

Quite possibly. I hope Smackdown can build new stars, instead of just appearing like it's a show with a bunch of midcarders. I guess we'll see what happens, and if guys like Dupree and Jindrak can get over...

Jindrak will never get heat unless he turns Iraqi, and that probably won't help.
JoeDirt Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Well yeah... Jindrak = charisma black hole
Kardo Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 This will officially work if JBL comes out with charts and diagrams showing how when Eddie wins/suceeds that the finanial stabilty of the USA decreases.
DMann2003 Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I love his heel persona, smarmy heels play great, We all say we won't buy because we feel Bradshaw is a poor wrestler. But if this character picks up steam, it might get people wanting to buy just to see Eddy beat the tar out of him. It's very similar to the Austin/Dude Love scenario from 6 years ago (mind you Bradshaw is no Foley).
Guest Anglesault Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I don't think those Dude Love shows did well.
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Bradshaws motive could actually work and make sense if he purchased WWE stock and thinks that with Eddie Guerrero as champion would effect his portfolio. So he must become WWE champion to raise the price and value of the company.
Enigma Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Is it just me or does Bradshaw look like Gary Busey when he smiles?
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 And have I mentioned how much I hate Rene Dupree? If not. I hate Rene Dupree.
