The OAO NBA Playoffs/Finals Thread

Recommended Posts

Watching those NBA Finals games with the Bulls on ESPN Classic yesterday just reminded me how poorly most guys shoot today. And maybe I'm in the wrong, but how can you justify being such a terrible freethrow shooter when you're being paid millions?

I thought it was funny how Doc Rivers was mentioning how nobody ever talks about Ben Wallace's poor freethrow shooting, unlike Shaq. It's because Wallace isn't known at all for his offense, where as Shaq is regarded as one of the greatest offensive players of all time.

I hate games when either team can decide what style to play...because it just leads to sloppiness.

I haven't paid attention to the commentary (on mute right now for no reason) but has Al done a "JR" with the Wallaces?

me and a friend have a little wager going on

"Who will turn into the next rodman?"

Meaning the Rodman we all know and "love"...

Ben Wallace or Kenyon Martin?

Rasheed Wallace is the media favorite for sound bytes. "Both teams play hard" and "We will win the next game" are phrases imbeded in everybody's minds now.

Don't forget, "God bless and good night."

I still have Game Three...11.4 Seconds left...tie game at 84 and Malone elbows Sheed in the face and THAT is when Sheed FINALLY blows.

Rasheed will get fined 50,000 and suspended for life and Malone gets 2500 fine.

I wonder how America is coping with the low score...

I also want to predict that this series will Trump what Duncan and Kidd grew last year (which was like 9.0)...With Kobe's high profile year and four big names and MUCH bigger market in Detroit and more appealing names like Wallaces...It should get back the levels the Lakers drew with the Pacers and Sixers.

^ as long as both teams are around the same score, I'm fine with it. When one team's getting blown out, that's when it becomes unpleasant. (ok, when the pistons are getting blown out, that's when it becomes unpleasant for me ;) )

It just dawned on me that Larry Brown was the coach of Detroit...

when was the last time a name like Larry Brown was a afterthought in the hype of a series?

Actually the Finals averaged a 6.5 last year, which was the lowest ever for live telecasts

Pistons are building a nice lead here with Shaq on the bench. They have a good shot at winning this if they can continue to capitalize with Shaq out of there. Now the Lakers have to score and play defense to get back in this while the Pistons on ly have to do one of the two.

It's way too early for Detroit to get cocky...

They'd better not. If I was Larry Brown that's what I'd be telling them right now. I'd tell them to play like the game is even and they need to pull away.

This is Espn's anyalsis

"We've seen this before folks! A.I and Sixers with Brown won the first game but the Dominant lakers just steamrolled them in 4 straight...It's same thing here folks! Jordan! Bonds! Yay! BOOYEAH!"

Well when they went to break...The bench players were wooting it up...hopefully Larry threw it down on 'em.
