JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 WWE house show report 4-10 Ames by Cris Groves Easter weekend in a college town really hurt the # of fans in attendenace I think. There were less people tonight at Hilton than there was at Vets in Des Moines, IA back in Jan.of this year....onto the show (matches may be out of order) 1.) Rico w. Miss Jackie vs. Stamboli w. Nunzio----Hot crowd behind Rico for the opening match....on the outside Nunzio kisses Jackie but later in the match she gets even by slapping Stamboli across the face & Rico pulls him backwards down across his knees for 1-2-3. ---Torrie Wilson comes out and says r we ready for a hot show....Smackdown GM Kurt Angle makes the save & tells Torrie to get the hell out of his ring & she does after she moons the crowd.....Angle says Dudleys had a mtahc for the Tag Titles tonight but he's axing it since here at smackdown you have to show the GM respect....out come Dudleys and then theyre attacked from behind by Billy Kidman and Paul London 2.) Dudleyz vs. Kidman/London....I didnt know Kidman and London were heels now where the heck have I been? Hot tags between Kidman & London while working on Dvon until he makes the tag to Bubba.....3d eventually on London for the 3 count. 3.) Billy Gunn vs. Horseshoe----Gunn got his ass kicked until he hit the fameasser for the 3 count. Crowd really got behind chanting "Horseshit" a few times. -Theodore R. Long comes out saying behind every good white man is a black man etc. gets all his lines in.... 4.) Jindrak w. Long vs. Orlando Jordan-----Jordan looked a lot better in the ring than the last time I saw him on smackdown he could be something if he got his face on TV. Jindrak wins. 5.) Triple Threat Crusierweight Title: Chavo w. Chavo Sr. vs. Spike vs. Noble-------Noble was sporting new tights that were purple with some black design on the sides....Chavo got Noble to side with him until turning on him. Spike gets thrown to the outside for the 2nd time & is out while Chavo rolls up Noble & holds on to Chavo Sr's Hands for an assist & the win to retain the title. 6.) WWE Tag Titles: Rikishi/Scotty vs. Bashams----Scotty slaps Rikishi on the ass a couple times & then gets beat by the bashams until he makes the hot tag to Rikishi....Rikishi goes for the stinkface but the Bashams switch out of the corner & Rikishi receives low blow but then Scotty actually applies the worm followed by a Rikishi kick for the 3 count.....They grab a young boy from front row and they dance in the ring including the boy doing his own worm then Scotty tells the kid to sit in the corner which he does....Scotty tries to get Rikishi to give the boy a stinkface Rikishi teases doing it but eventually just waves bye bye to him....VERY FUNNY segment! ---Intermission--- 7.) RVD vs. Haas (wore black trunks)----Got in all the moves and RVD won with the Frogsplash.....Great RVD houseshow match as usual like the previous 5 times he's been here...always shines high....Both men got standing ovation when they both left. ----GM Kurt Angle comes out saying tonight Cena puts US Title up against Dupree & Eddie takes on LBJ, JBL & Eddie won't leave Iowa with the title, Kurt will make sure of it....out comes Dawn Marie saying she hasnt had a job since Heyman left...says she could rub Kurts shoulders & buff his medals etc. & says she respects Angle unlike Torrie Wilson....out comes Torrie & the catfight begins...they roll ontop of Angle during it & he doesnt mind at all & neither would I.....Torrie eventually rips Dawn's pants off showing that she was wearing a pink thong....Dawn runs away & Torrie leaves with her pants as Angle says the main event starts now...... 8.) US Title: Cena vs. Dupree(wearing purple robe).-----Cena comes out and does his shtick & out comes Dupree. Dupree says children should look to him as a role model not John Cena.....Cena gets crowd to chant "Rene is gay" & Dupree leaves and gets counted out.....Cena said the fans came to see Cena kick some ass so he teased FUing Brian Hebner & had him up on his shoulders until Dupree came back but then got FUed by Cena. 9.) WWE Championship: Eddie vs. Bradshaw, JBL----JBL said he was tired of having to pay more taxes for illegals etc....& thw crowd was behind him until he said the state of Iowa just sux. JBL said once he wins the title tonight he will never come back to defend it in Iowa....out comes Eddie in a bad looking lowrider.....Most of the match was JBL with a arm hook on Eddie and after 2 1/2 hrs crowd was losing interest.....JBL hits the clothesline from hell but only gets a 2count......Eddie then hits frogsplash for only a 2 count! No one could believe it.....ref bump on Hebner & out comes GM Kurt Angle...Angle tossed the championship belt in for JBL but Eddie ends up using it on JBL instead....Hebner comes to as Eddie tosses the title to Angle and falls down.......Angle quickly tosses the belt high in the air out of the ring....Hebner gets Angle out of the ring and Eddie scoots over onto JBL for the 3 count.... -----Eddie thanked the fans for coming out to support him and the wwe especially on Easter weekend & wished everyone a Happy Easter to close the show Biggest POPS: Cena, Scotty/Rikishi, Angle, Eddie, Rico, RVD Biggest HEAT: Dupree, JBL, Horseshit I mean Horseshoe, FBI, Angle(just a cpl times) On a side note the big names missing were Big Show, Rey Mysterio, Booker T., Undertaker.......also if they're going with Eddie vs. JBL for the main event at Judgement Day then we're in some need of desperate help! ==================================================== WWE house show results 4-10 Saginaw by Brett Wolverton WWF RAW at the Saginaw County Event Center, Saginaw, Michigan Rosey & Hurricane beat La Resistance Garrison Cade beat Tajiri Women's Champion Victoria beat Molly Holly, Lita, and Jazz in a four way elimination match Eugene beat A-Train Kane beat Rhyno Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton wrestled Shelton Benjamin to 20 minute draw in a best 2 out of 3 fall match. JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Here's a fuller report of the RAW show from the Torch. I don't know if it was the economy or whether fans stayed away in droves after Triple H and Ric Flair were scratched from the announced card, but only 1,000 or 1,500 fans attended the Raw house show in Saginaw. Less than half as many fans as attended a house show that I attended there two years ago where Scott Steiner and RVD wrestled Triple H and Ric Flair in the main event if memory serves me right. You would have thought it was a Smackdown House Show as the crowd sat on its hands most of the night. The loudest chants by far were "Rest Holds Suck" and when Molly Holly wrestled in a fatal four way against Lita, Jazz and Victoria, the chant directed at Molly was "Chin Strap" as Molly had the ugliest wig I have ever seen fastened to her peach fuzzy head with a Chin Strap. To start the show, Stacy Keibler came out, showed off the longest legs in the world and welcomed everyone to Raw in Saginaw. Then Johnny Nitro came out and told Stacy only hot people are allowed to stand in the middle of the ring and told her to stand off to the side. Nitro said Eric Bischoff had put him in charge of the show that night and Ric Flair and Triple H would not be there. Lots of boos. He said the main event would be Batista versus Chris Benoit (1) Hurricane & Rosey defeated La Resistance. Standard match by both teams with Hurricane and Rosey combining on a move that looked like an airplane spin into a neck breaker to win. Suddenly Eugene came out clutching a stuffed Easter Bunny and began gladhanding with ringside fans while the referee tried to get him to go to the back. All Eugene wanted to do was to shake Hurricane's hand and he was content to head backstage. Eugene was one of the more over wrestlers Saturday night. (2) Garrison Cade defeated Tajiri. Cade got no crowd reaction at all. Except a few ringsiders who yelled that he looked like Barry Windham. Tajiri, as always, threw some very realistic kicks. If Cade was trained by HBK, he has a long way to go to have a fraction of his heat. (3) Victoria won a Fatal Four-way Women's Match over Molly Holly, Lita, and Jazz.. Lita and Victoria wound up pinning Molly and Jazz simultaneously and then wrestled a technical match until Lita missed on a move off the top rope and Victoria rolled her up. Suddenly, there was Eugene again clutching his Easter Bunny and a box of marshmallow Easter candies he fed to Lita and Victoria who were happy to oblige. Suddenly, William Regal came out and threw the candies to the floor and scolded Eugene with one of those looks he does so well. (4) Eugene beat A-Train. A-Train raced out to Shave Your Back chants. This is where the crowd found that Eugene could actually wrestle. During the match, A-Train tore up the Easter Bunny and Eugene then tried to gather up the pieces. While clutching what was left of the Easter Bunny, Eugene sort of outsmarted A-Train when he tried to crush him in the corner and A-Train knocked himself out after hitting the turnbuckle. I had some misgivings about this Eugene angle with Regal, but now I think it will be an overwhelming success at getting laughs anyway. It wasn't very offending, if at all offending. (5) Kane beat Rhyno. A forgettable match with Kane winning with his power moves. Edge then raced out and after nearly being chokeslammed and speared Kane, who looked real pissed storyline wise anyway, The crowd didn't know who the heel was in the Rhyno Kane match and cheered both. (6) Randy Orton fought Shelton Benjamin to a draw so Orton retained the IC Title. This was the worst of the night. Once again, Johnny Nitro came out and told fans that Bischoff had told him to make it a two-out-of-three fall 20-minute match. Boring chants filled the air for most of the next 20 minutes as Orton and Benjamin tried to wrestle the deliberate style McMahon wants to prevent injury. Neither wrestler sold the holds well and the crowd booed and chanted boring.. The best wrestling was in the 20th minute when Benjamin rolled up Orton and had a two count when the bell rang and the referee declared a draw. Benjamin got some polite applause and Orton was greeted by the squeals of love struck girls sitting ringside. Ten-minute intermission. (7) Chris Jericho defeated Christian in one of the best matches of the night, but no Trish Stratus was present. Jericho was extremely over with the crowd who rejoiced when he defeated Christian with the Walls of Jericho. (8) Matt Hardy, who also was popular with the crowd, defeated Chuck Palumbo who was taunted with chants like "You Have No Gimmick" and "You Suck, Billy told us." (9) Chris Benoit beat Batista to retain the World Hvt. Title. Benoit carried Batista to a match that was okay, but that's about it, Crowd did pop when Benoit defeated him with crossface and when Cade and Orton ran in to triple team Benoit. Tajiri then ran in, sprayed Orton with green mist and the night was over on a fairly high note. It was obvious Saturday that Evolution is only as good as the sum of its four parts. There were times when Batista and Orton looked lost. And Johnny Nitro must be taught how to speak in the ring mike. Two of the three times he gave a promo, I could barely hear him and I was in the second row.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton wrestled Shelton Benjamin in a best 2 out of 3 fall match Now THAT is what I would pay to see. Maybe they can have this happen at Bad Blood? House Show matches with awesome stipulations that would be just that on television are usually about 8 minutes long. Keeping Triple H as not the leader that he wants to be, post-Foley go-over, Orton wants to take care of Shelton, bam, you have you feud, keeping Raw as, at the moment, the superior brand. Oh, come on, don't feel sorry for SmackDown! - it's not Raw's fault, and doesn't mean that it has to be held-down because of it.
Guest DeathBecomesYou Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Wow, the Raw show actually looks pretty good. I'm just wondering though, if Matt Hardy is so popular at house shows and gets face pops on TV, then why is he still a heel? And why is Molly Holly still jobbing? After she shaved her head, surely the bookers could repay her by not making her look like shit every chance they get.

Guest DeathBecomesYou Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I still like the recap that says: "Victoria and Lita wrestled a technical match", 'cause you know when I think of Lita, the first thing I think of is technical wrestling . I could imagine being in the crowd and playing a game to see how many moves she'd fuck up.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Hey Deon, if that's true about Victoria and Lita, we might only have to worry about 75% of the match!
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I'm not expecting a title change at the PPV so I'm not worried.

LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Wait a minute, didn't Matt Hardy turn face a few weeks ago. Well, not turn face, but he played face against Lance Storm on Heat? I'm confused
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Wait a minute, didn't Matt Hardy turn face a few weeks ago. Well, not turn face, but he played face against Lance Storm on Heat? I'm confused Yes, yes he did. I'm guessing it was a one night only thing though which I find to be very disappointing although he did get his first win in a long time. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 So Dupree looses to Cena via count-out? Yeah, that's the way you put your champ over strong.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Apparently I'm the only one disturbed by Eddie being announced to wrestle Lyndon Johnson and getting Bradshaw instead. Worst. Bait and Switch. Ever.
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 So Dupree looses to Cena via count-out? Yeah, that's the way you put your champ over strong. It looks like they're trying to make Rene Dupree a big player right now. They don't want him to lose cleanly right now. At least that's the vibe I get from it. Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Dupree jobbed clean to Cena in last week's shows. I'm disturbed that because of a little prance, Dupree is now the Second Coming. I guess something needs to be latched on in these lean times.
DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Apparently I'm the only one disturbed by Eddie being announced to wrestle Lyndon Johnson and getting Bradshaw instead. Worst. Bait and Switch. Ever. Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 11, 2004 We're talking in the WWE Landscape here...He has no idenity as a face in WWEland... Make him a heel...give him and Kidman that Heel Rocker run.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Did you see Kidman as a heel in WCW? You obviously couldn't have, because nobody in their right mind would want to sit through that shit again.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 11, 2004 he's even worst as a face... I consider it the lesser of two evils. Just recycle the Green and Black fullbody tights with Spangles and let it rip.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 If Bradshaw was still a rootin' tootin' good ol boy Texan I'd say turn Kidman into Bradshaws new tag partner and call him Billy the Kid. Stupid Bradshaw heel turn. They could have him be Bradshaw's apprentice and call himself William Kidman.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I was at the RAW show, so to clear a few things up: - Molly and Jazz were eliminated from the match within two minutes, leaving Victoria and Lita to conduct a very boring match, with basically nothing but restholds. Technical or not, I'm not a fan of nothing but restholds. At least Lita passed on the punching offense, which she's so horrible at. - Tajiri vs. Cade was dull at some parts, but probably the best match on the card, with Tajiri hitting all of his key spots. People were pretty bummed by the classic heel grabs the middle rope for leverage to get the pin finish. - I've covered what went down in the Eugene match in other threads, but basically, his win was a fluke as he didn't even know he was pinning A-Train. This gimmick is going to bomb. - The Shelton / Orton match a very interesting concept and a chance to train the fans to sit through longer matches that aren't the main event. Unfortunately, at this point, neither guy is really capable of putting on a 20-minute match (and it was 20-minutes, no cutting corners), so it was extremely dull the majority of the match. The only really interesting portions were both falls and the last minute of the match, which featured your typical "attempt as many pinfalls as possible" formual for matches that end in draws. After the match when Orton had already left, Fink of all people got a round of applause going. Shelton wasn't nearly as over as I thought he'd be, although the dismal crowd could have something to do with that. - The Christian / Jericho match was possibly the best one of the show, but didn't break away from their typical match, minus most of the big spots. There was one sequence in the match that I found to be particularly interesting. Basically, it was lifted spot-for-spot from the Matt Hardy / Jericho match this past Monday. I was expecting a Trish run-in once Christian got put in the Walls of Jericho, but nope. - Most people were confused about the Hardy / Palumbo match, since both guys have been playing heels. Hardy wasn't over as a face (or at least, didn't get much of a response either way) and his Matt Fact was pretty lame (basically calling Palumbo a bastard with an endless string of adjectives preceeded it). There was an odd sequence where Hardy was leaning against the middle rope in a daze and slid out of the ring, landing right on the bell, which confused a lot of people. - Benoit was probably the most over and got the best match out of Batista that you could expect. Everyone popped huge for the finish and seeing Tajiri out there with Benoit was a bit odd, but a nice visual (as was the mist on Garrison).
justcoz 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Anyways, what's up with London and Kidman playing heels? That doesn't make any sense to me at all. Let Teddy Long manage them. Long can call them the Vanilla Thrillaz. They can talk about being held down by the "man" because they are too white, too vanilla, too small, don't have the street cred of Eddie and Cena, etc. The Pittsburgh music scene and more. New tracks this week from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Eisley, TV on The Radio, The Stills and Metric

DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I could see London as a cocky, frat boy style heel. Just...not with Kidman. I can't. I hope this is just for the house shows as I really can't imagine London as a heel. Hell, I just had a dream where he won the CW title from Chavo and he was the baby face in the match. Yea, I know I have weird dreams.
