Guest Nanks Report post Posted April 13, 2004 These are two of the groups I came across during my recent time living in Canada and subsequently came to enjoy. Neither of these groups, (until TDG very recently) have any kind of exposure Down Under so I'm curious to find out what the general opinion is of them up that way. I'll be seeing TDG live in a couple of weeks on Nickelback's The Long Road tour, so I'm looking forward to that. I'll prepare for a fair bit of hate for both of these because they get radio play and are therefore likely to be deemed too mainstream to be liked. But fire away nonetheless. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Both are a fucking disgrace to Canada.
Guest JRE Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Well- Three Days Grace is a pretty straight-forward nu-metal band. Kind of a stripped down, poppier Finger Eleven...mostly because the singers sound quite the same. Their music wears thin quick but it's good for catchiness and anger. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 I've honestly never heard of Swollen Members, which is surprising to me. As for Three Days Grace, I'm a big fan of them. Very simplistic, but enjoyable music. I saw them do a headlining show and found them to be fun and energetic, especially the fat guitarist.
treble 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 The acoustic version of 'I Hate Everything About You' is horrible. I don't hate them, though.
Guest Nanks Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Nobody's heard of Swollen Members??? How odd, I was under the impression they were quite well known. Another band I found when I was over there that I just remembered is Crowned King. I saw these guys live in the club I was working at my last night in Canada and scored their CD off them for $10. I'm pretty sure they had a single playing on Much Music at the time. Really cool ska-punk band. Any takers??

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Three days grace took a horrible idea and song title from Ugly Kid Joe, and made it a thousand times worse. Other than Three Doors Down, Smile Empty Soul, Train, and Nickelback, Three Days Grace could be the worst band on earth.
Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Add Trapt to that list and you're on to something. By the way, I don't hate Three Days Grace because they're mainstream, I hate them because they're a fucking horrible band.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted April 13, 2004 Trapt has actually done a couple breakdowns I've heard that didn't make me want to retch. Three Days Grace has not done this. Also, their name is completely stupid and unremarkable, and no one's going to give a flying fuck about this band in any longer than three months. If they do, it's pure luck. Other than Three Doors Down, Smile Empty Soul, Train, and Nickelback, Three Days Grace could be the worst band on earth. While I agree with you on 3DD, Train, and Nickelback, Smile Empty Soul and Three Days Grace really aren't that terrible. These two just had record companies who decided to, as you'd expect, put out their most tacky and common people pleasing songs that they could find in the form of "Bottom of a Bottle" and "I Hate Everything About You." Smile Empty Soul has a few decent songs, one of them I believe called "Every Sunday." Three Days Grace, the music is unoriginal, but at the very least, it's very listenable. I actually think "I Hate..." is the worst song on the CD, as not only is it just a terribly written song, it doesn't even showcase any of the (limited, albeit) musical talents of the guitarists and drummer. People won't care about them in three months, but that's just how radio rock works.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2004 It surprises me that people still talk about Three Days Grace. Swollen Members, aren't that good, but the beats aren't bad, so I'll give them credit for that.
