BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2004 -There was some talk of doing a Bad News Bears storyline with Team UK with the storyline being that Dave Taylor was stuck with these pitiful guys and had to whip them into shape and they taped vignettes for this, but it was cut due to time constraints. The UK team wasn't even assembled until the day before they were flew in. -Dave feels that the current ppvs would be great as free tv, but not good enough to sustain a weekly ppv purchase. -The next America's X Cup will be hte last taped show for awhile. The plan right now is for it to be US, Mexico, Canada, and Japan with the Japanese team being from All Japan. Dave thinks that they actually have the deal done with All Japan instead of trying to rush like they did before to get it done at the last second. The team would be Kazushi Miyamoto, Tomoaki Honma, Masayuki Kono(if he is ok as he has been hurt lately), and Taichi Ishikari. D'lo put this one together for them. -Scott D'amore does alot of the X cup booking. There is also a page on the TNA/FSN deal, but I'm not about to type it out so here it is http://img1.imageshack.us/img1/8573/wrestl...-04_page_01.jpg
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 17, 2004 Hate to say it again, but once again I have no idea who any of those guys are (on Team Japan).
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 17, 2004 Well, they are Japanese, so thats a + I guess. Thank God one of them isn't Nosawa. Off-Topic: Am I the only one laughing at the guy who has "Rash" written on his tights? He has the Krabs!
Michrome 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2004 It's a decent Japanese team. Nothing special.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2004 Miyamoto and Honma are both capable of bringing the house down, so I'm glad they're in.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 So one of the best shows on FSN gets a 0.3 in the ratings? (The Best Damn Sports Show Period) Wow.
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 That is why I said in the other thread before that FSN should be happy with TNA if they get a 0.5. They aren't gonna need crazy high ratings to stay on FSN.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted April 18, 2004 So one of the best shows on FSN gets a 0.3 in the ratings? (The Best Damn Sports Show Period) Wow. And I got ripped when I picked an 0.2 for them. -=Mike ...Heck, 0.2 is a HIGH rating on FSN
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Okay I saw their ROH match and those Japanese guys are pretty solid, except they don't do any high flying and are basically heavyweights...I hope they don't come in expecting the same crowd reaction they got at that ROH show, because the fans will shit all over them in Nashville if they wrestle the same way. Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted April 18, 2004 That pic of Miyamoto is a little dated though. last time I saw him, he had bleach blonde hair. Miyamoto and Honma are a team called Turmeric Storm and they are one of the better teams in AJPW. Lots of high flying and bumping, kinda like the Hardy Boyz minus the punk look and Miyamoto isn't a junkie yet, although he does do a nice Swanton. Kono is a horrible choice though, he's just a plain Vanilla guy, with zero standout qualities. AJPW could have send Hirai, Hijikata, Kaz Hayashi, or Gran Hamada, and they send fucking Kono. thuganomics 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Yeah, I was kinda expecting Kaz Hayashi, being that he's one of the few old WCW stars not to have made appearances on TNA television...
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Honestly, I can't really complain about the Japan team as I don't really think they could've gotten anyone better......
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Well, this may not suck. Have to wait and see though, could bomb. How would they do the whole thing? Round robin 8 man tags?
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Honestly, I can't really complain about the Japan team as I don't really think they could've gotten anyone better...... Honma and Miyamoto were both great choices, but Kono and Ishikari were less than great choices. Off the top of my head I can name Kaz Hayashi (who TNA fans would know), Ryuji Hijikata (would get over in a heartbeat with his Bat Bat style), Nobuhizu Hirai, Gran Hamada, and Hi69 (all decent wrestlers, who are somewhat flashy). Kono and Ishikari are just plain and vanilla looking, nothing to really stand out.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Isn't Hamada pushing 50? Not a complaint or anything just curious.
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted April 21, 2004 he's pushing 55 I think, and he can go better than most 25 year olds and he's built better than most 25 year olds.

LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 According to Dave's online update earlier today: "Keiji Muto announced yesterday that All Japan would be sending a team to the TNA X Cup, which is the official confirmation over what has expected for a few weeks." Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Team Japan has been announced: Captain: NOSAWA (never seen him before) Ryuji Hijikata: MMA style worker, if TNA lets him show off his stuff he ought to get over pretty quick. Nobuhizu Hirai: Another decent worker Ishikari: AJPW rookie, pretty plain and generic, but supposedly the big hope of AJPW's junior division
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 WHY DO THEY KEEP BOOKING NOSAWA!? THE MAN FUCKING SUCKS!! NOSAWA = TAJIRI WANNABE (which translates to an Ohtani double) THAT SHOPS AT HOT TOPIC!! All Nosawa does is poor kicks and chops. FUCK Nosawa.

Guest Donners Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Damn. I was hoping for Kaz Hayashi. Hell, better yet, I wish they'd had a deal with Michinoku Pro and brought over TAKA, Tsubo Genjin and co.
