Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Just like last week, we're keeping with this so that people who don't get here until after RAW don't have to search through the RAW thread. Post-show reactions, thoughts, etc., as well as the reactions of those who didn't see the show live can go here.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Well, for a Raw in Calgary...I didn't think it was all that great. Sure some stuff was good, but comparing it to the Benoit/Austin Raw from May 2001...it was nothing like it. -Don't really care for Edge/Benoit being a tag team because it seems like they are just trying to throw the belts on 2 notable people because of the lack in Tag Team development. They really should of put someone like Hurricane/Rosey over for the belts instead of just giving it to Benoit/Edge who definately don't need it. -LOVED Jericho's new entrance. Gives him a much more fresh feel to the character and it doesn't seem as "Y2K" like as the 2 previous ones did. -Enjoyed Benoit/HBK promo, but thought they really killed the momentum of it by announcing the match for Arizona in 2 weeks. They should of waited and announced it in a backstage segment or something else. -The hype video for the Japanese guy was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. I'm not exactly sure were they are gunna go with the whole World War 2 thing, but it certainly seemed eerie when watching it.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 my reaction is.... well SHIT thats my reaction we talked about it last night to the "WEE HOURS" and earlier today(Thank you Ric Flair) That Benoit needs to keep looking like a Main eventer and a Legit world champion.. and what happens??? HHH comes in and Beats him down... Nevermind the winning the tag titles later on. As Soon HHH gets involved and suddenly Benoit is on his Back..
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I would assume the new Japanese guy (Hirohito, right?) is going to be Kenzo Suzuki, although last I had heard was that he was headed to Smackdown with Funaki as his manager and he would feud with Billy Gunn. I do know Kendo Ka Shin has had dark matches in recent months, so I'm wondering if Hirohito could be him as well. I like the idea of Orton/Edge, although it seems that Edge would just be a stepping stone in the grand scheme of things to get Orton *more* over. Benoit/Edge winning the tag belts does make a semblance of sense, as they'd teamed in the past on Smackdown, but I think it's just another case of the belts being used to further an angle rather than establish them. deancoles 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Kashin has a match at the Tokyo Dome in may so it probably isn't him.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I remember back in 1998 when Taker & Austin were tag team champs and I thought that was pretty cool...but they've overplayed it way too much by having two stars tag together and win the belts for not a lot of reason when they aren't tag team wrestlers. I think they should stick with Edge doing the program with Orton and benoit should be dealing with the World Title stuff...and they should try to work on tag teams instead of avoiding that problem and just throwing the belts onto 2 high profile guys. I mean, did Flair/Batista even tag before they won the belts at Armageddon?
Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 The Matt Hardy face turn was pretty poor, and I don't mean just because he's gonna be anchored to Lita again or because the only reason he's turning was because they can't find anything to do with him. When Matt first turned on Lita after coming to Raw, he couldn't care less about her and even tossed her around a little himself, making her life hell for a couple weeks anyway. Now he saves her when just moments before he was going to face her in a mixed tag? Stupid.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Obligatory "Californian who hates the auto-locking threads" whine. Stop the TSM east coast monopoly and give those of us who are watching on tape delay (DirecTV, how I miss ye) a hand. I'm watching the show right now without reading spoilers (and trying not to read the other posts in this thread.) Currently, Jericho/Christian is on. The only thought running through my mind right now is that they should have kept all three of these characters heel. I guess I just like heel Jericho though. Oh, gee, a young Perry Saturn did a run-in.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I thought tonight's RAW was pretty good. It kept me interested which is good. I love Jericho's new entrance video. It's very badass. Someone get it on the internet stat! I hate to say it, but I'm starting to like Orton. His promo tonight was good and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed by Orton at Backlash. Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Raw was decent once again with another hot crowd but no angles were really started...aside from Edge/Orton. HHH/BENOIT/HBK still have issues...Jericho loses again to X thanks to Tyson "Diesel 2004" Tomko. Molly still hates Victoria. Kane is still pissy and making general threats for no reason. Regal continues to show why we have "homes" for people like Eugene because it's fucking impossible to handle them and Eugene makes funny things that people here think is stupid but is getting huge reactions from the crowd nontheless...in Canada at that as well (a location known for HONORING wrestling...not giving into Vince's Mad Mad Circus act)... Shelton Benjamin who was pushed as "THE MAN" for the last month wasn't even on the show for whatever reason and seemingly was next in line for Randy Orton. Speaking of which, After 8 months and a Thumbtacked to hell Back, Orton finally got over and cut an quasi decent interview only to get ruined by Horseface. At least he didn't utter the mean and dastardly word that has been known to start Biological Warfare..."DORK". Sounds like to Me...Triple H will cut another one of his "U need me more then I need you" promos on raw in two weeks to "steal" the main event spotlight...and returns to take what "belongs to him" at Bad Blood, Edge fresh from beating down Evolution but not taking the I.C Title emerges with the Triple H 2004 character in time for HIS hometown PPV at Summerslam (either in TO or Tampa). Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Raw started great and was a very entertaining show for the first hour. When Chris Benoit, Randy Orton, and Kane are cutting good promos (well, more Orton and Kane than Benoit, but Benoit's was fine for what it was), and you wonder how they could possibly screw this show up. And then Cade/Tajiri killed everything. I don't get why they're pushing this guy. Does he have potential? Yes. But this is too fast. Then you have Matt Hardy turning face, which is absolutely stupid because this is going to fail as per the DX/Chris Jericho rule; that cool heels lose all their cool upon becoming face. And HIROHITO? Has WWE ever gone THIS low?
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 As long as Hirohito doesn't come out with a finisher called "The Bombing of Pearl Harbor" or something it might not be that offensive.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Well, that was probably Benoit's best "live in the middle of the ring" style promo. Though my favorite shall remain the one where he accuses Austin of not knowing what wrestling is. "It doesn't involve chef hats, or monster trucks."
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 There was this vignette about the history of Japan's involvement in WWII and General Hirohito and then it said that in 2004 Hirohito returns! It's for a new wrestler.

Guest sean pyro Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I thought Benoit's in ring promo went on forever and bored the hell out of me, it took him 3 minutes to come up with that shit and it took me 15 minutes to listen to it. Peace to the CANADIAN fan in the crowd with BENOIT + MIC = ZZZZ sign.

notJames 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I've been having a debate with my friends about Victoria's chest, and we've come to the conclusion that they're real. Look at them from the side and you can tell. They're a nice size but they're not unnaturally round and thrusting except for when she wears her peekaboo tops. As for the rest of the show, I too was puzzled over Benjamin's absence. He definitely should have capitalized on his win over Flair on Sunday. Eugene has ceased being offensive and is now in the twin cities of hackneyed and lame. Two noticeable anti-Austin signs: F*ck Domestic Violence Austin 3:16, Debra 911 Oh yeah, and Fuck Lance Cade. He couldn't get over with a rocket pack. He needs to get off my TV. And take Coach with him.
