AnonymousBroccoli 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I've got the opportunity to buy some old WWF tapes from a dude, and the one year (since I started watching) with a nearly vacant spot in my collection is 1999. All I've got PPV-wise is St. Valentine's Day Massacre, Backlash, Capital Carnage from the UK, and a SummerSlam DVD I found at Blockbuster, which was somehow sealed, the disc working, but very, very scratched. I didn't include the ones I already own in the poll, and the guy doesn't have Royal Rumble, Over the Edge, or Fully Loaded, but you can still vote for them if you like. Thanks. Edit: Here's a more complete place to vote: http://www3.sympatico.ca/terry.dalke/bestof1999.html
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Out of the ones you can get, I'd say No Mercy for the ladder match and decentish Mankind/Venis HHH/Austin and Rock/Bulldog efforts I reckon the best ppv of 1999 is Fully Loaded-I was entertained by everything on there, particulaly Taker/Austine, Rock/HHH and Edge/Jarrett... btw Capital Carnage is from December
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I was going to say Backlash, buy you already have that. None of the others are really worth owning. 1999 was probably the worst year in the history of the WWF as far as PPVs are concerned. Russomania ran wild and ruined pretty much everything. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I'm going to tentatively say No Mercy, but I'd have to watch most of them again before I can vote.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 They're all a mess. Get the Royal Rumble though. It's got the sick Rock/Foley "I Quit!" Match.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 No Mercy is probably the best out of that list. I haven't watched it in a while, but I remember liking Unforgiven a lot when it originally aired. Well, for Chyna/Jarrett and the great ME anyway.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Summerslam was the best PPV. Fully Loaded and No Mercy were also pretty good. St. Valentine's Day was decent too. And that's about it.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I gotta go with SummerSlam too, although Backlash and St. Valentines are up there.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Summerslam's best match is between Test & Shane McMahon. That should tell you everything you need to know right there. Arguably the worst Summerslam ever. Even the main event stunk, especially considering who was involved. No Mercy & Unforgiven aren't great, but they are much better than the other choices. deancoles 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Jericho/X-Pac and The Main Event save Unforgiven's ass.99 was a poor year for ppvs, the only memorable one in North America was Spring Stampede 99.Shockingly in the UK we actually had some angles on our 2 WWF ppvs, Rebellion(october) had the Stephanie McMahon Amnesia angle start. Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I always suspected my brain went out for most of 1999...I don't remember jack shit because the year was just awful. I only have 4 or 5 PPVs, and only recall a handful of RAW/Smackdowns. RRumble 99: Has a good (not great) Rock/Mankind match, and Gangrel/Pac is a guilty favorite. WORST RUMBLE EVER though. Wrestlemania XV: Arguably a WORSE WM than IX, everything seems thrown together and features a piss poor HIAC match and lukewarm main event. Over The Edge: Buy this and I kick ass. Motherf*ckers... King Of The Ring: ...HAHA! 2nd worst ever. Only 1995 is worse. Survivor Series: If you like the old style elmination matches, then get it. Has a good Chyna/Jericho match, and a decent Triple Threat. Otherwise....pass.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I like Armageddon. Maybe not the best star quality ppv, but quite entertaining nonetheless. The Hollies running wild, the Kat doing her thing, Kurt Angle continuing his undefeated streak, a Battle Royal (I'm a huge battle royal mark), a Cage Match, Street Fight, and the ppv blowoff of Show/Bossman including all the footage that led up to it. IMHO, the best was No Mercy, but I was there live, so my opinion is heavily skewed.
Guest Stunt Granny Report post Posted April 23, 2004 ^^ Really? A 30 minute main event featuring Vince McMahon was GOOD? I've always wanted to seen that match, just outta curiosity.

I never said it was a "good" match but it's worth a peek if you've never seen it. Although, I'd keep the FF button handy.
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 This list was tough because none of the events really stand out from one another. I'd had to say either No Mercy for the Ladder match or SummerSlam for Foley's WWF Title win and Ventura's guest refereeing of the match. Other than that, take your pick they were all mediocre. Guest Ray Report post Posted April 25, 2004 Arguably the worst Summerslam ever. Even the main event stunk, especially considering who was involved. Austin and Foley were both falling apart physically by late 99, and HHH wasn't very good until 2000 so it's not too shocking. Oh, and 1999 WWF sucked ass.
