Scherer is reporting that the buzz now is that Turner definitely has the wheels in motion for a return to wrestling when the no-compete expires in March 2005. Dave says that he is hearing that Ted has been in contact with Goldberg and Steve Austin, and that this is going to become a big story.

And just for discussion, I thought he signed a deal with the WWF preventing him from getting back in the business for like 5 years or something.

Why is this in the WWF folder?

Because it's possibly competition for WWE, and because There's no "Future Ted Turner Promotion" folder

Yep, topic about his motorcycle accident was moved just a few days ago.

Anyways...

It would be interesting to see who Turner got to be a part of it. I'm guessing Hogan, Nash, Hall, Goldberg, Austin as the top stars, which could be a problem because of age and injuries. Who knows who else could fill up a roster.

I really don't see how it could possibly work. All the indy workers belong to TNA, he'd either have to buy them or build a federation of WCW guys that haven't seen the light of day since April 2001.

Pfft, there is lots of Indy talent out there that's not in TNA. There are lots of big names floating out there too, and who knows which WWE guys would choose to leave for Turner's money and a chance at a big push.

Any promotion that starts off building to Austin vs. Goldberg has an Ace that Vince can't compete with. He has no match that is on that level.

Austin can't wrestle though. What do they do after the big dream match and Austin either immeditaely:

1. Retires from the ring.

2. Beats his wife again and goes to jail

3. Throws a temper tantrum and leaves.

That doesn't mean shit. Kevin Nash still wrestles and no one would call that a good thing. Any Austin match now is going to consistent of a Stunner, punches and not selling.

WCW drew for years with the most embarrasing main events on PPV in wrestling history. All he would have to do is one or 2 ten minute PPV matches with very little bumping with Bill Goldberg.

I could see Turner getting a new organization for himself......and getting Hogan to run it..........wow, this is a really shitty idea.

You have to keep in mind that your average mark buys a PPV for who is wrestling...they're not going to say "well, the workrate for this match will probably be subpar." Marks would eat up Austin vs. Goldberg, even if the match sucked ass.

Yeah, they were doing such wonder for WWF buyrates weren't they?

Well obviously they'd have to build it up well. But the point is that it doesn't matter how great or how shitty the match would be, people would buy it based on the people involved and not the star rating.

*ahem*

who called this before it happened? Yep. It'll happen.

Are you ignoring the name change or do you just not know?

Anyhow, Does anyone think else there's a chance he'd just invest in an established group like TNA?

I was thinking the exact same thing, Turner will just hook up with TNA & the Jarretts. He needs the talent, they need the money and exposure. TNA will need a mojor image overhaul and increased production values, but Turner can give them that. Look on the bright side: national TV exposure for a new generation of flyers. Any of the cancerous big names mentioned realise they need a good undercard to support their worthless carcasses on top.

Turner has no national outlet to show the wrestling on. What is he going to do, put the show on his imagionary network. I hope none of you still think he is affiliated with Time Warner, if you do you are truly not smarks. He has no cable channels anymore, he has nothing.

Oh come on. He has tons of money still, and if he has Goldberg and Steve Austin, he will easily secure a TV deal. Those guys are money, especially since it would be a first-time match.
