Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Hart Trophy Martin St. Louis (TB) ~ This team would be not be where they are right now without him. Honestly, the guy even got them to the Second round of the playoffs. That along makes him Hart worthy. Norris Trophy Zdeno Chara (OTT) ~ I'd have to go with Chara who did everything he could to be the defensive force for his team. Vezina Trophy Roberto Luongo (FLA) ~ As much as I like Kipper, I'd go Luongo. The guy plays so freaking awesome on his team, yet he's the only thing that does. Honestly, if you put say someone like Brodeur's team in front of him, do you not think Luongo would only have put up even better stats? Seriously, he is the Vezina Trophy winner. Calder Trophy Michael Ryder (MTL) ~ All of these guys equally deserve it. So I'll just pick Ryder. Frank J. Selke Trophy Alyn McCauley (SAN) ~ No real reason, but I think it will go to him. Lady Byng Memorial Martin St. Louis (TB) ~ Again, should be obvious that he'll be picked here. Jack Adams Trophy John Tortorella (TB) ~ With what he has doen with his team, I'd say he earns it. Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Hart Trophy Jarome Iginla. Unreal season, led his team all year. Norris Trophy Scott Niedermayer. I really like Niedermayer, hope to see him finally win it. Vezina Trophy Martin Brodeur. Don't get me wrong, Kiprusoff had a unbelievable year, but he did not play enough games. Luongo also had a great year but he did not have enough wins. Calder Trophy Michael Ryder. 63 points as a rookie is remarkable in this day in age, Frank J Selke Trophy Kris Draper. Had a great year, probably would have been better if not for injury. Lady Byng Trophy Martin St. Louis. Obvious choice. Jack Adams Trophy Darryl Sutter. Sutter turned a non playoff team to a sixth ranked playoff team. Remarkable job.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Hart Trophy Martin St. Louis (TB) - I can't see how the Art Ross winner on the East's best team won't win this. You could make a case for Jarome Iginla, but St. Louis is the main reason the Lightning are where they are right now. Norris Trophy Zdeno Chara (OTT) - Chara had a breakout season, finishing third in plus-minus (and first among defensemen) and generally becoming the most physical D-man in the league. He should win his first Norris. Vezina Trophy Roberto Luongo (FLA) - WOW, this is a tough one. Yes, Kiprusoff broke the GAA record. Yes, Luongo was 27th in the league in GAA. No, the Panthers didn't make the playoffs. But Luongo was the sole reason they hung on for as long as they did. He didn't have great stats, but he had a spectacular season. Calder Trophy Andrew Raycroft (BOS) - Quite simply, the best rookie goalie to come along in nearly 20 years. The last one like him -- Patrick Roy. Frank J. Selke Trophy Alyn McCauley (SAN) - When in doubt, go with the guy with the best plus-minus. That would be McCauley. Lady Byng Memorial Martin St. Louis (TB) - Sounds good. Jack Adams Trophy Darryl Sutter (CGY) - How on earth did the Flames not finish last in the division, let alone make the second round of the playoffs? The other coaches are all deserving, but Sutter deserves it for bringing playoff wins back to Calgary at long last.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I'll do the fourth nominee for some of the category, because I think some of these guys got left off. Hart: Ed Belfour. Probably, and single handily brought the Leafs to where they are, if it wasn't for his stellar playing, I do not think they would be where they are as of right now. Norris: Sheldon Souray. Well to bad for him being injured, cause he was a real strong candidate in being the Norris Trophy nominee/winner. Vezina: See Belfour. Calder: Ryan Malone of Pittsburgh Penguins. I think 3rd in points for rookies, and real leader for the team, and star power for such a shaky team. Jack Adams: Barry Trotz. Unbelievable season for Nashville, barely making it in the playoffs, and made Detroit earn for their win, but playoffs don't count. He has made this team to be better for the next few seasons (if any)

treble 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Hart Trophy Martin St. Louis (TB) -He should be a shoo-in. Norris Trophy Zdeno Chara (OTT) -McCabe should have at least been nominated, but Chara is the most physically dominating player in the league. Vezina Trophy Roberto Luongo (FLA) -All three deserve it (except maybe Kiprusoff, who may not have played enough), but Luongo had a great season on a crappy team. Calder Trophy Andrew Raycroft (BOS) -Pretty much the main reason the Bruins won the division. Frank J. Selke Trophy Kris Draper (DET) -This is a worthless award in today's game. I'll go with Draper for no real reason. Lady Byng Memorial Martin St. Louis (TB) -I don't know how Alfreddson can be considered among the most sportsmanlike players in the league, but I'll go with St. Louis for no real reason, again. Jack Adams Trophy Darryl Sutter (CGY) -What a fucking job he did. Wilson should probably be 2nd and Tortorella 3rd.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Hart Trophy Martin St. Louis (TB) - No one else is even close, is the main reason that the Bolts finished 1st in the East and 2nd overall. Norris Trophy Scott Niedermayer (NJD) - Tough to overlook Chara, but I think that Nieds had the better defensive season (although not all the stats might support that) and that's enough for me. Vezina Trophy Roberto Luongo (FLA) - Kippy didn't play enough (missing 6 weeks b/c the injury) because otherwise, the trophy would be his. Luongo played amazing considering the swiss cheese that was playing in front of him. Calder Trophy Andrew Raycroft (BOS) - Razor deserved Hart & Vezina consideration, IMHO, as his numbers were comparable to Theodore's from 2 years ago. But the Calder will have to do ... for now. Frank J. Selke Trophy Alyn McCauley (SAN) - Very good +/- ... plus, I hate Madden so much I could never vote for him. Lady Byng Memorial Martin St. Louis (TB) - I personally think that Richards should win, but MSL will win. Jack Adams Trophy Ron Wilson (SAN) - Took a team that wasn't that different from last year's squad, and brought them to 2nd in the West, 3rd in the league, without having someone like St Louis on the team to help propel them. Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2004 Add to this the nominee's for the Lester B. Pearson award, technically awarded for the most valuable player as voted on by the players themselves. However, this award has teetered back and forth over the years between being for most outstanding and most valuable. Lately it's been handed out to most outstanding, and it looks to follow that tradition again this year as the nominees are: Martin St. Louis, Tampa Bay Roberto Luongo, Florida Joe Sakic, Colorado

JangoFett4Hire 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2004 Wow Ribeiro (Montreal) not nominated for Lady Byng? I'd like to see Raycroft win the Calder, and St Louis win everything he's nominated for, it would be good for the Lightning just before they are folded. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 One day too late, but a bump none-the-less ... Looking back, I got 3 right and 4 wrong, although one of the ones that I got wrong I actually said the eventual winner should have won but wouldn't, so I'm going to give myself half-credit. All in all, though, a great show to watch, as always.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 I was surprised that Brodeur got the Vezina, I didn't think he had a spectacular season, thus I thought Belfour should got nominated before him, but I was impressed by the selection.

I wasn't. Kiprusoff and Luongo both had better seasons, and Kipper proved his case further by going to Game 7 of the Cup finals. This was a makeup vote for years when he should've won but didn't. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 If the voting included postseason play, Kipper would have won the Vezina with ease. But I really think that he missed too much time in the regular season to get the nod. Luongo set records for shots faced and for saves made. If anyone deserved it this year it was him. This was a makeup vote for years when he should've won but didn't. Make-up vote or not Luongo deserved the Vezina. He single handedly kept the Panthers on the fringes of the playoff race when they had no right to be there. (Much like Khabs did for the Bolts in 01-02) I wouldnt have voted for Kiprusoff only because he didn't play in enough regular season games.
