The host segment following that short was classic

 

Mike: "*pulling the rubber band* If you leave me on the Satellite of Love too long, I could SNAP! *lets it fly*"

Amen. Volume 9, or any volume I suppose, should be the best of season 7 (since it just had 6 I think episodes).

Make it "Laserblast" , "Night of the Blood Beast" (with both sets of host segments), "Deathstalk and the Warriors from hell" and any one of the other three season 7 episodes and I'd be a very very very happy camper. If I had to pick a 4th season 7 episode to put on there I'd say "The incredible melting man" or whichever one it was that had the Chicken of Tomorrow short.

The seventh season was the peak of the post-Joel riffing and appears to be even better at times thanks to the so-so host segments. Only Dr. Forrester kept them from totally falling apart.

All six Season 7 episodes need to find their way to DVD. While they did bring in Pearl which brought down the quality of the host segments (though CC Pearl was still marginally better than SF Pearl), there were still some gems, like in TIMM which was spent satirizing and deriding Hollywood bigwigs for their treatment of BBI while making MST3K:TM

 

The movie riffing was balls-out though. Must've been the "want to go out with a bang" factor, which manifested itself in several classics during the final SF season as well.

Aw, c'mon. I defy you to tell me that the Chicken of Tomorrow is funnier than Once Upon a Honeymoon.
