An episode that wasn't given quotes much here:

Oh yeah--love that ep. I swear that those "Teenagers" are from the Plan 9 aliens' planet.

However, they screwed up in a host segment, talking about things that haven't happened yet in the movie. They also did that in the Earth vs. the Spider ep.

Just finished watching The Amazing Colossal Man. Solid episode, but overrated, IMO. The best part is Mike's skit as Glenn.

Has anyone ever done a "movies that I wish had been on MST3K" topic?

Don't think so.

But for some sick reason, even though it wasn't necessarily a BAD film, I'd have liked to see them do "Transformers: The Movie".

I mean, after how Crow and Tom reacted to "Robot Rumpus", imagine how they'd react to all the robot deaths in that.

...and, in my mind, I picture Tom and Crow fighting over who is in love with Arcee more.

Devil Doll is an episode that doesn't get enough love. I've seen it been called a poor to average entry mostly thanks to the particularly somber tone of the film, but I really don't think it detracts from the riffing at all. William Sylvester's ridiculous overacting and the ludicrous scenes with Hugo alone are good for a few laughs.

"Are you a professional entertainer?"

"Oh, no."

"I didn't think so."

"Neither am I."

-------------------------------------

*Vorelli feels up a hypnotized Marianne*

"Look, there's no God. There's the proof. Not a single God."

"All goodness in the world just died. How 'bout that?"

-------------------------------------

"Did I just see someone come in and paw my puppet?"

-------------------------------------

"You think he likes ham! Wait 'til you see me like ham!"

-------------------------------------

"WE'RE HERE TO COMFORT YOU."

Teenagers:

"Oh, yeah, he's a Kennedy."

"Paging Mr. Herman."

"You know, you won't see costuming like this 'til Marc Singer does V."

"Eh, turn Rush Limbaugh off."

"Star Trek fight music." (LOL)

"Now, I like ya, Trevor, but you're screwy, you got it? I'm the fella wearing the Rosco, see?"

"Moses? Moses!"

"It's the new zoo revue, coming right at you..."

"I recommend the Sea Breeze astringent."

I use Wal-Mart's generic Equate brand of Sea Breeze.

What a great episode.

I can't see them doing a cartoon.

They did a clip of Armageddon on one of their summer preview shows, but God damn it if I would pay a lot of money to see them rip the whole fucking movie.

They did Gumby, and pre the live action movies being shown that was shown on Cartoon Network.

Also, both "Moon Zero Two" and "Catalina Caper" had cartoon sequences, and they did pretty well with those.

I don't think that a cartoon movie would be that much more of a stretch for them.

Especially with my idea of continuing MST3K as a Flash Cartoon show.

EDIT: Oh, and another thing they couild get on for "Transformers: The Movie"...the now outdated 80s power music.

My head would explode if they ever came back and did the 2001 Planet of the Apes...aka "Marky Mark and the Monkey Bunch." Man, did that movie ever suck.

Just had an idea for a reunion special for MST, that would encompass all the on-air regulars for one last (ok, MAYBE last) movie.

Start with focus on Joel, driving down a highway or something. After a few seconds, in a flash of light, he vanishes.

Cut to Mike and the Bots' appartment (seen at the end of the last episode). They're debating...something or another...until in a flash of light, they too vanish.

They all appear on the rebuilt Sattellite of Love (maybe with Movie look, maybe the Sci-Fi look). When they're contacted by the Mads, we find it was the team of Observer...and an older (and maybe wiser) Dr. Erhardt that brought them together. An alliance of all the Mads think they have found the movie that would break humanity, and put all their chips on the table in sending it to both hosts and the Bots.

From there, whatever movie is chosen could be riffed upon.

Oh, and to get everything of the past included, maybe some temporal problem causes Crow and Tom's voices to change periodically, allowing both Weinstein and Murphy to play Tom in the ep, and both Bellieu and Corbett to play Crow in the ep.

Was just a thought that I wanted to bounce around.

EDIT: Possible movies they could do

  • Anything starring Hulk Hogan
  • Either version of "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman"
  • (even though it's Fish in a Barrell) "Plan 9 From Outer Space"
  • Battlefield: Earth
  • Hercules In New York (Sorry Governator)
And that's just a few off the top of my head.

The Legend release of Plan 9 features Mike Nelson commentary, so a MSTing of Plan 9 is fish-in-a-barrel and redundant.

When did the show go off the air? 2000?

The final episode (Diabolik) aired Aug 8, 1999

The last new episode (Merlin's Shop) aired Sept 12, 1999. Its original airdate was pushed back even beyond the final episode due to rights issues.

Reruns aired on SFN until Jan 31, 2004

Godzilla vs. Megalon alone makes this a good collection.

Yes, yes it is.

The next collection I think should be an "endings" collection:

113-The Black Scorpion (by numbers, the last Larry ep) or 512-Mitchell (Re release, Joel's last ep)

624-Samson vs. Vampire Women (Frank's last ep)

706-Laserblast (Last Comedy Central ep)

1013-Diabolik (last ep)

EDIT: Or, if you want a different new ep in place of 113/512, you could have 1001: Soultaker as the episode...since it has both Frank and Joel in it. Messes up the dynamic...but still.

replacing Larry's last episode with Soultaker woud work, since we'd have their (Joel and Frank) last episode as a regular, and their cameo appearances (which would technically be their f'real last appearances)

True.

I was just trying to include a Joel episode into the list, hence why I did those two choices.

Though chronologically, Larry's last ep is on DVD already (104-Women of the Prehistoric Planet was taped after 113-The Black Scorpion).

It looks like Rhino has finally realized that the only "fair" way to release collections are to include two Joel-era episodes, one Mike-hosted episode from CC, and one from the Sci-Fi run.

It's great, but to be honest, this really kills the chance of seeing just one all-Joel box set in the future...

True.

I'm just hoping in the near future they release one of my favorite episodes, "Teenage Caveman", on DVD.

Another fun fact: the Gorgo episode only aired once (July 18, 1998). That must be a highly requested episode among the traders.

I picked up the Legend Films colorization of Plan 9 with the Mike commentary.

It's pretty weak. The colorization seems to hide the fact that a lot of the film's sequences looked like night when most of the film now looks like day.

The film is somewhat less funny overall now, because the stupid dialogue and narration has hardly any time to sink in before Mike starts babbling again.

Mike hits some pretty good Tor jokes, but plenty of not-so-funny Bela jokes, mainly about his heroin addiction. I'm not really one who gripes about drug use jokes. Although, the fact that this film was made when Bela was dead and buried mainly for that reason makes it a lot less funny than it would be if he was a living celeb.

It's a tremendous letdown after the excellent tracks on Reefer Madness, NotLD and House on Haunted Hill (I haven't seen the one for Carnival of Souls), but it's expected.

Just saw Mitchel for the first time and it was hilarious, but this dialog has to be the some of the WORST I've ever heard:

Kid: Hi!

Mitchell: Hmph.

Kid: Are you the man from the insurance?

Mitchell: no.

Kid: He came last night.

Mitchell: no.

Kid: My mother does'nt like you.

Mitchell: I don't like your mother.

Kid: Why not?

Mitchell: Why not?

Kid: No, why not?

Mitchell: No, why not?

Kid: Why are you repeating what I say?

Mithcell: Why are you repeating what I say?

Kid: I'm not

Mitchell: Well, I'm not

Kid: You are

Mitchell: Buzz off

Kid: What?

Mitchell: What?

Kid: What did you say?

Mtchell: What did you say?

Kid: Did you say something?

Mitchell: Did you say something?

Kid: You said "Buzz off"

Mitchell: Your lying through your teeth

Kid: Your lying through your teeth

Mitchell: Buzz off huh!!

Kid: Buzz off

Mitchell: Buzz off kid!!
