News: New DVD's

Recommended Posts

Do they really know that WWE is really gonna go through with this DVD? Do they know anything at all?

WWE "supposedly" had it in the works for a while (heard about it a while back), but it was delayed along with the ECW set to make way for a new set of DVD's, which are the ones being announced here.

It could just be an educated guess that'll come true with time.

Casket - 6, but I'm sure there's been a few more (Vs. Kamala, Vs. Yokozuna, Vs. Yokozuna again, Vs. Kama, Vs. Goldust, Vs. Shawn Michaels)

#7. v. Mabel (IYH 5, December 1995)

#8 vs. Jerry Lawler in late 1994 in a good ol Coliseum Video Exclusive.

I always assumed the "MOTY" was the match Jannetty won the title in. That's the one I always hear about. I've never seen that match or the one where Shawn wins it back, just their boring match on the Bloodbath DVD which was saved by Johnny Raven's commentary.

What if it's the 1985 Bleeps tape? That one features a Iron Mike Sharpe vs Steve Gray match I want to see.

I've seen both of those matches and they're pretty good IMO. But if I'm not mistaken the one were HBK retains the Title after Hebner checks the instant replay is the one that won MOTY in PWI magazine. I prefer the one were Marty wins, personally. Anyway, is either match actually regarded as truly one of the best of the year (not counting PWI)? PWI has had some questionable MOTY winners in the past: Rock/Hogan from WMX8, Brock/Angle IronMan, and a couple others.

Anyhoo, I'm a Shawn Michaels fan, so if they include stuff like the Rockers/Brainbuster matches, Ladder match 2, IYH vs. Jarrett, and any match vs Jannetty, then it'll be a great disc.

Also, the problem I remember with the Michaels-Jannety "MOTY" in PWI is that they never seemed to specify which match was the one nominated (out of four big matches that I recall)... and future publications noting past awards do not distinguish which match it was either

At the time and for a while afterwards, I'd always thought it was the "Jannety wins belt with Perfect's help" match, since (in my mark eyes) that'd be the one to make the most sense

They HAVE to put SSeries 91 on UT's new DVD, its still one of the greatest nights in WWE history.

I'm betting that the new Bleeps DVD will have more modern outtakes and funny happenings from the world of WWE, and the "Bodyslams" section will have a few matches from RAW and Smackdown in the past couple of years.

I'm shocked no one has tried to "make" the 2 disc Benoit DVD.

It sounds to be that Eddy's DVD will be a "Story" DVD...where he talks about his career, his drug abuse past and that sort of thing with a 4-5 matches to compliment it...

Not sure WHICH matches...

The Benoit DVD looks like it'll get the Mick Foley Greatest Hits and Misses treatment.

I'm betting they try to pad it with more WWE stuff then WCW...maybe a ECW match and I believe that Vince owns Stampede footage...so there's a bonus.

As far as his WCW matches that will get on there...I'm sure he'll push for the Sullivan match the most. Sid at Souled Out 2000 will likely be on there for historical reasoning...Maybe one of the Booker Matches, hopfully but doubtfully the Raven match in 1998.

There's a shitload to work with in WWE.

I'm pretty sure Vince doesn't own Stampede footage.

Eddy's disc unfortunately seems like it will be like the Rey DVD, leaving the option open to a more extensive DVD later on.

I don't see why Eddy's first DVD can't be the best - he's at his prime right now, and is the WWE Champion.

I am very excited about the prospect of a Chris Benoit DVD and If WWE is willing to poke fun at the deadman's Past, the Taker DVD should be oodles of fun.

I do believe that Eddy Guerrero deserves equal treatment as Chris Benoit does. Each men have had a very good career and each deserve an equal representation of that. I hope the Eddy DVD doesn't turn out to be along the lines of the Rey DVD or The Brock dvd with a story and a handful of matches.

I want 4 hours of complete matches.

How many Eddie Guerrero matches can you think of that they could put on a career DVD? I know he is a great wrestler, but when you think back he hasn't had too many stellar matches in WWE, and WWE would probably be a little hesitant to put mostly WCW and ECW matches on it and they probably couldn't get the rights to his stuff in Japan, so what all would you put on it besides his World title win. His match against Rey Mysterio Jr. from Halloween Havoc '97 is on Rey Mysterio's DVD. I can only think of his match with Chavo Guerrero Jr. against Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle from the Tag Team title tournament as something I would really love to see on the DVD, and maybe his no-disqualification match against Edge from Smackdown '02.

That didn't stop WWE from putting the same match on different DVDs before. *coughMindGamescough*

his no-disqualification match against Edge from Smackdown '02.

That match was awesome, they definitely should put that one there since I don't see an Edge DVD coming out anytime soon.

Kurt Angle's DVD wasn't cancelled, just postponed until sometime in July, I believe.

Technically, the Rey DVD has more matches than the much loved Ric Flair DVD. Technically.

Edit: Well, if you count the extras I think the Flair DVD has exactly ONE more match than the Rey DVD. That's not taking into accoutn the fact that one of the 10 matches on Rey's DVD is about 3 minutes, but hey, 10 matches is a pretty good number. Considering, according to some reviews, 2 of those matches are in the ****1/2 or more range, with a few others being very high, I don't really see the hate for the DVD. Sure, the main feature isn't very good, especially when he rambles on about Albert in kayfabe.. but Eddy vs Rey! Come on! Worth the money right there.

Considering how long the good majority of Flair's matches on that DVD are, I can feasibly see that.

I mean...I think the shortest one is at least 20 minutes...

Going with the 8 advertised ones, I think that number is about right (vs. Funk might be in the 15-17 minute range, actually). Flair vs HHH and the JIP tag match on Disc 2 are significantly shorter. Flair vs. Pete Sanchez (I think) feels like it's 30 minutes, but I don't think it's all that long.

yet nothing's been said about it.

I wouldn't be shocked if Vince decided that it was a better idea to wait for Kurt to finally retire for good and capitlize on that by making the DVD an CAREER RETROSPECTIVE type of deal. Kinda like Flairs...

Although Angle's only had a small number of ****+ Matches and you can only show Benoit/Angle so many times....Likely Angle/Benoit 03 will go on Benoit's dvd...perhaps they can slide the WMX7 match for Angle's along with the Cage Match in full (since the Cage dvd didn't).

He's had a couple good ones with Austin you can throw onto the dvd...Put on the No Mercy 2002 Tag match against Rey and Edge...A lesnar match (prefreably the Summerslam one which was the best)...The John Cena match is on the cena dvd already...

Not sure what else...Maybe Series 2000 with Taker...the match with the rock at NWO2001. His ***3/4 match on smackdown with Kane...

There was some news about it a couple of months back.

Yes, but Flair's DVD isn't really a career retrospective - and the problem there is that they'll have to come up with a bigger and better DVD for when he does retire.

Regarding his matches with Chris Benoit, they could in a section called 'The Chris Benoit Chapter', or something similar.

Yeah, all of those other matches seem pretty fine to go with, but why can't Angle/Cena from No Mercy '03 be on both DVDs?

well...by calling it the ULTIMATE RIC FLAIR COLLECTION...that indicates it was a career retropective...esp considering it spanned from 1975 to 2003.

There were talks of a "Sequel" because of the incredible sales and there is no question that a shitload of stuff can still be used

+Random Various Skits in NWA that didn't make the cut last time

+The Full Clash 1 match with Sting

+Savage WM8 with the entire Liz storyline covered

+The Loser Leaves town match (along with the S.S Match with Ramon against Perfect and Savage with the vintage classic promos)

+Vader Starrcade 1993

+Hogan Halloween Havoc 1994 retirement Match

+Arn Anderson Fall Brawl 1995 (with the subsequent Pillman/Anderson Vs Flair/Sting segment at Havoc)

+The Triangle Match at Starrcade 1995

+The Return of the Horsemen Speech

+Bret Hart at Souled Out 1998

+The Looney Bin period (it's flair at his cheesiest and best and I just want the Scott Hall Cameo on DVD)

+The Hilarious Spring Break episode where he creates a Lottery of CW's and draws Mysterio in a field of jobbers and ends up wading in the pool.

+A Gag reel with BAGWELL~! References

For now, it seems they're just releasing a Four Horsemen DVD to capitalize on the sucess. I'm sure a Volume 2 just for Flair will come eventually, though.
