I am a Giants fan and I think they traded way too much. The Giants traded Phillip Rivers, a 2004 5th round pick, and a 2005 1st round pick . This means if Eli doesn't turn the franchise over and they still suck, they suck and get nothing. The Chargersnow got Everything and a lot depending on how the Giants do next year. My opinion is they never should have worried about Eli and got Kellen Winslow, or if they already picked Phillip Rivers, keep him becasue he doesn't seem that much worse than Eli and He will do better in the NFL but just be overlooked. What do you think?

They should have stayed with Rivers. The Chargers annihilated them on this one - they got the QB they actually wanted and a TON of prospects for the future.

I still don't understand why the Giants wanted a QB when they have much bigger problems than Kerry Collins.

They definitely gave up too much. Eli said he wasn't going to play for San Diego and still sounded like he wasn't planning on it. Someone could have waited until a little into training camp when the Chargers knew for sure they weren't going to get him signed and were desperate to trade him so they at least get something out of the 1st overall pick.

The Giants are the last team that needs Kellen Winslow. Have you honestly forgotten about Jeremy Shockey?

The Giants gave up way too much considering the team still has a lot of holes that will need to be addressed over the next few seasons.

We'll have to wait and see, but if the Giants tank this year, and the Chargers put those picks to good use, then I'll be a happy camper.

Oh, and it was great when the draft audience booed the trade when they found out how much the Giants paid for Manning in draft picks...

Which is funny considering I thought the reason he didn't want to go to San Diego was that he didn't want to get murdered in his first season. Well... congratulations Eli you're going to get slaughtered now between the Dallas number one defense in the league and the 'I know let's BLITZ' defense of the Eagles. And I will laugh and laugh and laugh.

I wish I could see Jim Johnson's face today. He is going to tee off on this poor kid. The Giants O-Line is terrible, the running game sucks, and he can't just throw it to Shockey every play.

I laughed rather loudly when they booed him as well. The little bitch got what he asked for.

One thing though, how often does a rookie QB come into the league and tear it up in their first year? Without actually looking for stats, I can say not very, if ever? Giants fans really shouldn't expect too much this year, and I don't think that you can call the trade one sided for a good 3 - 5, just to give Manning, Rivers and whomever the Chargers pick(ed) with the picks they received a chance to do "something" (or not) in the NFL.

Sunday December 12

Eli meet Ray Lewis

Ray Lewis meet Eli

Ray Lewis has such a unique way of welcoming rookies into the NFL. I'm not even a Ravens fan and I want to go to that game now.

As a general rule...I don't mind trading future picks...even first rounders.

We (the Bills) used one to get Bledsoe...but picked up another one by the time the draft rolled around by franchising Peerless Price.

However...in the Giants case...this was WAY to much.

They have no O-Line, lost a lot on Defense and are going to be starting a rookie QB...not to mention their division is pretty fucking tough right now. Barring the stars aligning in just the right way...they traded a top 10 pick next year to go along with the 4th overall this year...and a 3rd and 5th.

Idiotic move. I'm far from the biggest Kerry Collins fan in the world, but when the guy had a decent line he put up very solid numbers. The Giants main problems were not with Quaterback. They had holes on offensive line, Wide receiver, and defense. They would have been better off trading up with Oakland for much less, and drafting Gallery. I can almost guaran-damn-tee that New York has a top five pick next year. The only way that dosen't happen is Strahan plays absolutely out of his mind and has a 25 sack season, and Tiki Barber can stay healthy, stops fumbling, and rushes for 1500 yards. In the division that they play in neither one of those things look possible. The Giants got totally rapped in this. And now the charges get another year to add to their team. If they still need a wideout next year can you say Mike Williams? I thought you could.

You know...if there's a supplemental draft...the Giants, Bills, and maybe someone else wouldn't have a shot at Williams because they don't have first round picks.

From my team's standpoint I don't care because we don't have room for him now...but it's possible that the Giants handed Mike Williams to the Chargers in this deal.

With two first round picks...and the supplemental draft giving the biggest chance to the team that picked first in the draft this year (IE: San Diego)...the odds are pretty decent that Williams becomes a Charger if there is a draft. Second bets odds lie with the Raiders...

The Cardinals wouldn't put up a first for him (too many good WRs) and the Giants couldn't if they wanted to.

I doubt the Chargers are too worried about their WRs as they have not drafted one when they had a chance to this year. I think they're content with Reche Caldwell and Kevin Dyson.

Well they are playing Marty ball and that has always been about 3 yards and a cloud of dust, but not even Marty could be sastisfied with Reche Caldwell and Kevin Dyson at receiver. Could he? :( :( :(

Well I bet Schottenheimer expects Dyson back in his Super Bowl form. And as for Caldwell, the mere fact that he catches the ball at least 10% of the time (Moreso than Mr. David Boston, who as a Charger fan, am glad they got rid of), is enough to place him in the middle if not in the starting slot.

Fuck all this other "news."

Jared muthafuckin' Lorenzen came to terms with the Giants today. I PRAY he makes the cut and starts at least ONE pro game. I want to see NFL defenses try and blitz him.

I would love to see "The Heafty Lefty" run over a couple of unsuspecting linebackers.

i hate the giants but am a huge eli fan (and i like J-load lorenzan as well)

chargers were held by the short and curlies and got a 1st rounder from a team that will finish last in their division?? these extra picks can only hopefully help the chargers turnaround
