Will Somebody Slap This Man

Recommended Posts

Moore can be annoying or tiresome but so can these endless identical threads dedicated to him here. Shouldn't there really be a limit on how many times somebody can post the same topic in one folder? Maybe you should pin a MM thread at the top of the page to save the bother and you might even be able to come up with a funny joke between you eventually.

As is the George W. HITLER threads, as is the O'Reilly is the SUQ threads, as is the Kerry blows threads.

It all comes with the territory. You don't like, you don't view. I've done that with a few thread topics that I grow tired of seeing discussions built around.

Besides, you can never have too many Mikey Moore threads. They're like potato chips -- you can't consume just one...

Michael Moore often trips over his own two feet when he tries to identify himself with the common man, and tries to crusade for "you and me" but that doesn't mean he also doesn't bring up relevant topics, and provoke dicussion. I still think Bowling for Columbine was misunderstood as many took as a "I hate guns" movie, which completely missed the point of it, but then again some criticisms of the movie were accurate too. I tend to like his earlier work like "The Big One"

Of course Mikey trips over his own two feet.

He can't even see them...

Heck, he's one Chee-to away from having his own gravitational field.

Which is kind of easy to do, you know, miss the point of the film, seeing as so much of it is composed of lies and half-truths.

Then again, it was also meant to be a, you know, DOCUMENTARY.

So the general sentiment is that Michael Moore can't make good movies because hes fat. Alright, good argument guys.

Moore is certainly a little extreme in his views on occasion but 9 times out of 10 I find myself argreeing with him. BFC was a great documentary and he addesses any doubts about what Charlton Heston said at his website or any other doubts going round about the film.

*sigh*

OK, when it comes to this place, there are two types of Moore haters.

There are the Michael Moore people that can't stand his films and think he's full of propaganda and actually bother to argue their views based on facts, or whatever it is Mr. Moore puts to film.

Then there are the Mikey Moore folk like me that don't want to be bothered and simply make fat jokes.

You must separate the two groups -- not merge them into one...

No, he can't make good movies because he's a talentless hack. He just ALSO happens to be fat.

1) BFC is many things --- a documentary is not one of them

2) He didn't address squat

How is it not a documentary?

And yes, Moore has addressed doubts surrounding the truthfulness of the documentary on his website.

Your bias is ridiculously stupid and ignorant... Moore is NOT a talentless hack, and anyone with good taste in movies would see this

Just because he's a bumbling fool who happens to know shit about politics and is an extremist jackass, DOESNT mean he isn't talented. Christ, I think he's a fucking moron, but I'm not so short sighted that I won't give him praise as far as his films are concerned.

You dont have to agree with a films subject matter to realize that its a good movie

Umm, the mere fact that he invented numerous things and edited tape around to make it look legit kinda destroys the whole "documentary" thing.

There have been numerous people who have gone, point-by-point, down his entire litany of mistruths and outright lies.

And, his attempts to argue the truth and merit fail when compared to the criticisms which have, you know, actual facts behind them.

His films suck. The ONLY film he's been involved with that was entertaining was "Canadian Bacon". His work has become progressively worse over the years.

And his "TV Nation" was one insanely shitty TV show.

Most cinema fans dissagree with you. You just have a grudge against the guy because he's liberal... your hatred for him clouds your ability to think objectively

Judging by his box office numbers, most movie-watchers DON'T disagree with me at all.

are you taking into account that most documentaries do not make over $15 million at the box office? Are you also taking into account the "limited release" factor?

Just because a movie does badly at the box office, doesnt mean its a bad movie... American pop culture movie taste is ridiculous... Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was an amazing movie, and it didnt do amazing numbers

Bowling for Columbine is the highest-grossing documentary of all time.

Still did shit numbers.

your hatred...clouds your ability to think objectively

That's really the best description of MikeSC I've seen.

I still find it ironic that I get called on this when I can express disagreements with those I agree with --- but the other side has one brutal time doing the same.

Strange.

Ah, but I guess the left is simply correct and disagreements CAN'T possibly occur.

Is the box office an indicator of quality?

No --- but neither are reviews, to be blunt.

Reviewers think Quentin Tarantino is God. I find him annoyign and his movies to be not good. They gave "The English Patient" a friggin' Oscar.

"BFC" was BAD --- and COMPLETELY fictitious. It winning Best Documentary is only ANOTHER in the long line of embarrassments that joke of an award has been a party to.

the difference is that we make the attempt to be objective and fair... you suffer from tunnel vision

And I find it sad that you've been programmed by Hollywood into believing that if a movie doesnt make over 70 million, the numbers are "shit" without taking into account a budget, or the number of theaters involved in the release

Well, this just proves my theory that the average republican has bad taste in movies... music... and books

Stick to bitching about liberal communist scum... good movies tend to be a little out of your league

Hardly. I like what I like. My favorite movie is "LA Confidential" and I have no clue how much it made.

I loved "Quiz Show" --- also no clue as to what it made.

I've hardly been wowed by "The Lord of the Rings" movies.

Box office means squat to me.

And, jig, no --- you are about as objective as I am.

You're using box office numbers sold to justify your contempt for the movie, despite the fact that the movie wasn't a nationwide release. There's no way that the movie would make big numbers, because people are not going to go out of their way to see a movie that's playing in maybe two theaters in their entire state.
