Guest Lawlerm Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I'm trying to make a collection of all the NWA/WCW War Games and i'm trying to find out how many there were in total. I know of: 2 on the '87 Bash Tour 1 on the '89 Bash Wrestle War '91 + '92 Fall Brawl '93-'98 1 on TV in '91 and 1 on TV in 2000 (I Think) Does anyone know of anymore that took place? cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 1 on TV in '91 WCW didn't have a Wargames on free TV in 91, that I'm aware of. They did, however, hold a NUMBER of Wargames matches at house shows throughout the late 80s until about 1991 (one being July 91 at the Meadowlands, IIRC). There was also one right before Starrcade 87 in which Ron Garvin was on the team opposing the Horsemen.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 27, 2004 The Fan-Cam in War Games in question I BELIEVE features Sting/ Lex Luger/ El Gigante/ Brian Pillman vs. Barry Windham/ Nikita Koloff/ One Man Gang/ Kevin Sullivan from the Meadlowlands. John Mcadam has it on one of his tapes, and gave it ***1/2.
Guest Lawlerm Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Ye thats the one i meant. I remember someone saying they had a fan cam of it. It happened just before the '91 Wrestle War ye? Anyone know if any footage is commonly available of any others other than the ones mentioned?

There was at least one on the Great American Bash Tour '88 pitting the Windahm-version of the Horsemen against your usual cast of babyfaces. Don't know if you can find it anywhere on tape though!! Anyone know if any footage is commonly available of any others other than the ones mentioned? It was in between May-June 1991. Luger was still a face, but Gang/Gigante had a feud, so we know it's before the "Great" American Bash. Still, I don't see how fan-cam footage would be watchable, the cage is usually hard to see through from distances unless the camera was inside the cage. See Also: Chamber of Horrors Cage. It was early July 1991, before the GAB - not WrestleWar (which was in February and had its own WarGames).
Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Who was in the one that was on TV during 2000? Was that the one where Russo won the title?

Actually Nash retained the title after he camped out near the door the whole time . . . but it was WCW 2000, who could keep track?
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 30, 2004 I'd be requesting a comp tape of War Games, but realized all the ones from 1993-on pretty much sucked. ESPECIALLY 1995 & 1998, with 1994 being not too far behind. For those who don't know, 1995 was land of the has-beens: Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Sting, Lex Luger vs. The Zodiac, The Shark, Kamala, Meng. 1998 was the one that ruined WarGames for ALL TIME with the stupid nWo hollywood, nWo wolfpac, and team WCW teams where a fall (A PINFALL!) can happen anytime, and it was every man for himself, despite teams. 1994 had the Stud Stable v. Rhodes' & Nasty Boys. Draw your own conclussion.

Booker, Goldberg, Russo, Nash, Sting, Jarrett ... the other names escape me. It was Nash, Sting, Jarrett, Steiner, Goldberg, Booker, Kronik, and The Harris Brothers. Russo won the title against Booker T in a regular cage match later in the month.

Basically, my dad talked me into getting it because he thought the three team format could be interesting, so I went "What the hell". During the opening Tony Schiavone is discussing the rule changes, and my dad looked over to me with this "you're shitting me" look on his face as I said "We just got ripped off." Needless to say, the next WCW PPV I ordered was Starrcade 2000, and I almost didn't order that one either.

And don't forget it also had the Renegade posing as the Warrior coming in the cage and get slapjacked by Stevie Ray before disappearing in a cloud of smoke and the real Warrior coming out. And, to top it off, Warrior INJURED himself when he jumped out of the cage to chase after Hogan.

Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted May 1, 2004 And Bret had to sell a clip to the legs like a gunshot for over five minutes! I think he was over-come by the TOXIC SMOKE OF DOOM! Which means Hulk Hogan no sold even THAT.

MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 I mean at least everyone got whacked over the head with a blackjack whereas Bret had to pretend he was struggling to get back to his feet after a clip. As for the smoke, IIRC didn't Stevie Ray get to no sell that too? Wait, I don't want to know.

I'm 99% sure the smoke made Stevie Ray pass out...but Ed Leslie, who was standing right next to the cage didn't. I wonder why....cough:crackhead:cough. So Hogan & Leslie no sold it...as well as Warrior of course. God, this match REALLY REALLY REALLY ruined War Games. No wonder WCW sacked it for 2 years.
