bobobrazil1984 Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 I heard we spent 11 million dollars developing this flag.... ...
Guest hunger4unger Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 I've yet to see it but i'm assuming it is a variation on the stars and stripes?
bobobrazil1984 Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 ^ umm its right there in the article that KANE posted.
NoCalMike Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 since they are trying to make Iraq a democracy. Why don't they start with letting the Iraq people vote on this issue for themselves?
Guest thebigjig Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 since they are trying to make Iraq a democracy. Why don't they start with letting the Iraq people vote on this issue for themselves? They havent gotten to that chapter yet in the Bush approved Democracy for Dummies textbook
King Cucaracha Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Not that the old one was a masterpiece, but that is pretty horrible.
bobobrazil1984 Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 i have to admit i dont particularly *hate* it but what mattrs is what the Iraqis think. I also have to admit one of the first things I thought was "wow, same colors as Israel's flag"... can you imagine what israel-hating iraqis think.
Der Kommissar Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Terrible, terrible flag. The colours on it seem reminiscent of a country from Africa or the Caribbean, and the half moon reminds me of Turkey's flag. The old one isn't the greatest, but at least it's something I can identify with Iraq.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 let them vote. They might as well try their new democratic powers out on a minor issue
Guest wrestlingbs Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 let them vote. They might as well try their new democratic powers out on a minor issue Exactly. It makes no sense to let the flag be another issue the Iraqi people have with the US. I say let them submit their own designs and then let them vote on which is best.
Guest hunger4unger Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 See, it's small things like this that are causing more hatred and tension in Iraq. (As well as killing civilians). Would it really have hurt to let Iraqi's have a vote or failing that, commision a group of Iraqi's to come up with one?
