BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 NWA:TNA has looked into purchasing a six-sided wrestling ring (they may have already purchased the ring, but I don't have that confirmed) with the idea of using it for the X-Division starting this June, which is also when TNA's Fox Sports Network TV deal is believed to begin. The six-sided ring would be a first on American television. Toryumon and AAA have used six-sided rings before and a bout featuring a six-sided ring was being built up as a main event attraction in Major League Wrestling before that promotion halted operations in February. I have heard TNA approached the same ringmaker that MLW was going to use. pwinsider.com It offers alot more possibilities for spots.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I like the idea. It's bigger and like you said, allows for more spots. But if they're gonna only use it for the X division, how are they gonna go from regular matches with a regular ring to an X division match with this one in a show. Or maybe it's build in a way that it can be morphed into a regular ring?

Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I guess they're planning ahead in hopes that the FSN deal works out. If it does, then they'll be able to switch from a regular ring to the six-sided one relatively easy (though they'll have to entertain the crowd for twenty, thirty minutes) at the tapings. If they wind up using it on PPV, they'll simply do a whole PPV revolving around it I assume.
Guest Donners Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Excellent - a ring to match the shape of Apolo's head...
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 They'll just make the switch once, start the event with one and finish with another. Even easier if you're not live.
Guest duck420 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 tna seems to like spending money on big stuff before getting the little stuff down. it sounds cool though especially if it can morph into a normal ring

There wouldn't be a whole lot of mat if it's got to fit inside the Asylum, but it'd be a better way to be original. Still...if the 6 sided ring comes off, it should be an interesting watch. The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I see the 6 sided ring as basically two rings put together... and by that i mean... a 6 sided ring is simply a regular ring with two more half rings stuck to either side. so I don't think it would be a problem for them to find a way to just hook two more halves onto another ring and add two more sets of ring ropes or something. thecitythesky 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 actually, it's actually a hexagon. (as opposed to one long rectangle as described above.) and yes, the ring does open up a whole new "bag of tricks" when it comes to spots and super fun rope running. the best example of a 6-sided ring in action is on the Toryumon vs. T2P event pitting Ultimo Dragon's earlier class against his 2000 graduates (Toryumon 2000 Project (T2P)) who wrestled exclusively (i believe) in the 6-sided ring in Mexico. The Ill One 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 Interesting. Maybe it's just me but isn't that ring insanely small? Anyway I'm interested to see if (how) they pull it off f0or the X Division. Should be cool.

thuganomics 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 Well, apparently Court actually payed for the 6-sider, as h2wrestling is using it. Now they'll just be ripping off Teddy Hart if they bring it out.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 It looks cool but looks very tiny, but that could be the picture making it seem that way. Has anyone ever seen something like that on tape or anything?
Astro101 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 They showed that AAA clip on TNA...it may be just me, but I think the AAA one is bigger.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 The AAA one is fairly large, and it's interesting to watch. It's not like it changes everything about wrestling, it just adds a new dimension to running the ropes and some of the moves. And the AAA is bigger than that picture. You could probably fit a TNA ring into the AAA six sided ring
