Bobby Rude

Recommended Posts

OK, I was checking out the teams for the World X-Cup, and found this...

Teddy Hart is gone... it's a shame too, because unlike alot of the net, I like him.

Petey Williams is replacing him as captain of Team Canada, and Bobby Rude is being added to the team.

My question is this... WHO THE HELL IS BOBBY RUDE?

He's worked a TON of WWE dark matches and Heat/Velocity tapings. He's apparently quite good, but I haven't seen him in a long match so I dunno. He looked decent from the jobber squashes, though.

Bobby Rude is a heavyweight though. He doesn't wrestle X division style matches. I can't believe they brought back Eric Young. That dude is sooo horrible.

This is true on both counts. I guess Rude's like Team Canada's David Young or something.

I saw Rude at the 2002 Super 8. He's pretty good/solid. He was very funny. After every 2 count (when he was making the pin), he'd pop right up and look at the ref and yell "hey." It doesn't sound too funny, but he had the whole crowd going. He is a solid worker though.

Bobby Rude in X Cup? Not sure if he'll truly fit the style, but I'm glad I get to watch him somewhere as his WWE matches were great.

This is horrible. TNA are constantly letting the Major players of the X teams go.... first Juvi, now Teddy, the X cups are getting less and less impressive every time I turn them on.

TNA...getting a non-X worker to come to the X-Division...hmmmm...why doesn't this surprise me at all?

Seriously. The only good X-Cup team is Team NWA.

It's not exactly their fault that Juvi gets into backstage fights and has problems with Customs while Teddy has Japanese tours.

Bobby Rude is good, but he's much more of a Val Venis wrestler than X-Division.

he'd pop right up and look at the ref and yell "hey."

He stole that gimmick from Evil Eddie Watts, who also had it stolen by a number of other people, for the record.

I only point this out because I'm so used to seeing Watts do it, that when I read that Rude did it, I did a double-take for a second.

Bobby Rude is a damned fine worker, but he's no X-Division wrestler. I've seen him use a top-rope splash as a finish I think...that's it.

With the inclusion of workers in the X-Division that do not work the traditional "X-style" (ie. lots of highspots), I think it's time TNA redefined the "X-style." Maybe, say, it's hybrid wrestling, where any and all styles of wrestling are welcome, with an emphasis on innovation and high-impact. That way, non-X workers like Michael Shane, Bobby Rude, Hector Garza, and Johnny Devine can be properly grouped into the X-Division.

What Corey said. Making the X-Division more diverse can only be a good thing and less confusing for us guys when they hire guys like Rude.

Anyway...they could certainly have chose someone worse than Bobby Rude.

What backstage fights has Juvi gotten into? And Teddy Hart will be back right?

Is it the same 'hey' thing that Mike Sanders stole? If so . . . that guys gotta be gold! That 'hey' thing was hilarious . . . especially when Sanders would just stand there on the apron going 'hey' while David Flair tried to tag him in.

And why are they altering the X Division anyway? Was it going stale or something?

Actually, we're offering ideas on how to alter the X-Division so that the workers they bring in it for it MAKE SENSE. So in a way, yes, they are altering the X-Division. And it's only going stale because the workers they bring in either A) suck or B) don't work "X-style." Frankie Kazarian falls under both A and B, whereas Sonjay Dutt and Abismo Negro fall under A, and Hector Garza, Team UK, and Bobby Rude fall under B.
