TheBigSwigg Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Alright, this is to keep all the little posts from clogging up the board. Let's try to keep all the little news tidbits in here. The big blockbuster shit we can throw in another thread, but keep the little stuff here. Let's try this. (Now watch today be a REALLY slow news day.)
TheBigSwigg Posted April 30, 2004 Author Report Posted April 30, 2004 Here's an example: MORE ON ANGLE'S INJURY, RVD-WWE CONTRACT UPDATE As you would probably assume, Kurt Angle is very concerned about his most recent neck problems. He has sought feedback from a number of people in and around the business as to what they feel he should do for treatment this time around. He has considered many different procedures before deciding to go back to Dr. Jho. There are a number of people in the business who feel that he probably should just have the fusion surgery since, unlike Scott Hall (who had the Jho procedure and wrestled for years afterwards), Angle's bouts are very bump intensive, which means that the continual pounding undoes the Jho surgery fairly quickly. Angle has known all along that he would most probably need to get the fusion surgery down the road. He had just hoped to put it off until his career was over. Sources close to the situation have told me that WWE and Rob Van Dam are very close to agreeing to a new contract for RVD. His current deal expires in June, but from what I have been told getting the new deal signed is just a formality at this point. pwinsider.com/Dave Scherer
Guest Dazed Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Pinning this for the day as an experiment. See how it goes. Nik
Downhome Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 EDIT: Nevermind, I misread the original post. I'm all for this idea, I brought it up months ago. Allow the major news to still have it's own thread but keep the minor pointless stuff in it's own thread, sounds good to me.
humongous2002 Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Angle's neck surgery and RVD signing a new contract are big news to me but anyway all i got to say is that HHH pic is the funniest shit i've ever seen.
Downhome Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Angle's neck surgery and RVD signing a new contract are big news to me... I agree 100%, but whatever. I guess there is a different time and place for bitching about details like that concerning this type of thread. What is big news to one guy, might be meaningless to another. Anyone who actually thought RVD wasn't going to actually be signed again is just dense, and I mean that. I didn't think even for a second that he would leave WWE, or that WWE wouldn't have him.
DCMaximo Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 The only reason I thought RVD might not sign is that he's always been very vocal that he doesn't need to be the WWE to survive. He has his own shop (RVD's 5 Star Comics) and he can survive on indy shows and Japanese tours for money and he's quoted as saying that he's never got to fear being out of work. But, at the end of the day, the most exposure is with the WWE BTW, I notice that this news story has been posted again as it's own topic
TheBigSwigg Posted April 30, 2004 Author Report Posted April 30, 2004 I used it as an example because it's the only fresh thing I could find. I am hoping to stop all the little posts with "tidbits" like these, that may be news but aren't necessarily blockbuster.

Guest slacklet Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 If at first you don't succeed.... ...take advantage of the new mod and make him pin your thread. Go you.
TheBigSwigg Posted April 30, 2004 Author Report Posted April 30, 2004 Are you upset because I stole your thread or something? Chill out. Sheesh EDIT: And I didn't get the mod to pin it, he just did.

TheBigSwigg Posted April 30, 2004 Author Report Posted April 30, 2004 - Triple H was originally scheduled to begin shooting his new movie this month, however due to the departures of Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar and even Goldberg, WWE and Triple H have agreed to keep him on television a little longer to try and get some new stars over as quickly as possible. The plans are now to shoot the movie in July, with a potential Benoit/HHH main-event at Summerslam. - The new Hirohito character that has been alluded to on RAW will be for Kenzo Suzuki. Based on the vignette that aired, there are some people in Japan who feel that this angle will backfire huge to the point where WWE may not be able to return to Japan since it could potentially offend some Japanese right wing politicians who will feel that it is mocking Emperor Hirohito. The plan currently is for Hirohito to debut on the 5/10 RAW from San Jose, and there are also some plans to have him accompanied by a bodyguard. According to sources, the company has contacted “one of the bigger stars in industry for the role.” - Currently WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero is apparently ‘physically banged up’. However, since he is the WWE Champion and one of the top guys on the Smackdown! Brand, he won’t be taking any time off. Source: WrestlingObserver.Com Newsletter EDIT: Now I'm done.
Guest Dazed Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 ...take advantage of the new mod and make him pin your thread. Go you. He had an idea, and I thought it would be worth a try. He didn't ask me to do anything, in fact we've never communicated at all. I'm not saying it's a good idea, I'm not saying it's a bad idea. It's just worth trying for a couple of days, and being given the chance.

Guest slacklet Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 How am I trolling? Posting stuff from 4 days ago just makes this concept even worse. Look, if you want current news write a script that picks up headlines from Google News. Otherwise you're stuck with guys like *me* that take the time to find headlines which are relevant and somewhat interesting.
Guest Dazed Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 (edited) Sorry, viv, but slacklet did entirely the right thing here. It's one thing saying "we already discussed that", but bothering to go and find the link is actually appreciated. Let's get the thread back on topic now. Edited April 30, 2004 by nikjohns

Dude just seems inclined to kick this concept to the curb, when it can clearly work if people open their eyes and use it.
Aero Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 I didn't want to make a whole new thread for this, but I had to post it somewhere... Poll on WWE.com... Hey, ladies, on this past week’s Byte This!, Orlando Jordan said that one of his goals is to pose for Playgirl Magazine. Do you think he should? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please yes 27.01 % No thanks 72.98 % Total Votes: 10496 I thought it was funny.
Downhome Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Who are all of you people anyway? Change scares and frightens me.

Wow, when someone stands out on a wrestling messageboard as needing a life more than everyone else there already does... This thread was at least a mild success, even though a lot of news items were posted outside of it.
