I know that the NBA is holding an expansion draft two days before the regular draft this summer. But what exactly is the expansion draft? I vaguely remember there being one when the Grizzlies and Raptors started, but that's about it. Does anyone know?

Very much like the NFL draft, mostly scrap players from the teams. I think they have to put four or five on the table and each round they take one of the players off the table.

By the way....who the hell are the Bobcats? That Charlotte franchise?

I think there are some curveballs in the NBA draft however. I think the teams are allowed to give the expansion team picks or cash if they take someone off the hands of a team.

Example: The Sixers want to dump AI off their cap. Instead of trading him and taking a salary back in return. They can expose him and tell the expansion team that if they take him they can have their first rounder.

The team is going to be called the Bobcats? Sounds like a AAA baseball team.

I think they'll keep Ai. But this is a great way to dump Coleman, Robinson, or even Snow or Mckie.

I just used AI as an example. There is no way in hell they can get away with leaving him unprotected. The fans may be turning on him and open to trading him, but they can't get nothing for him and have the fans accept it.

The guy that owns the team is Bob Johnson, just think about that for a second.

BOB..cats

Anyway, the rumor was that the Magic were exposing Grant Hill to the expansion draft although no one thinks they'll pick him up due to his injuries, but its at least a possibility.

That would be as bad a move as the Texans using their first expansion pick on Tony Boselli. Then again, considering the franchise is in Charlotte and Grant Hill played at Duke, it might be tempting.

Oh, anybody with a problem over the team name "Bobcats," here's a nice big F-U from a proud Ohio University Bobcat, thank you very much.

It's fine for a college mascot, where things like wildcats can roam freely, but a professional franchise? C'mon. Pick a bigger cat.

Most if not all of of the bigger cats are taken by other professional teams (Panthers, Jaguars, Tigers, and so on) and apparently there's an unwritten law that says two professional teams within North America shouldn't have the same name...sans the football and baseball Giants. I'm probably wrong in that assumption, but that's what it looks like to me.

Of course they could have just gone with the Charlotte Horsemen...

Carolina and Florida Panthers

St. Louis and Arizona Cardinals

Texas and New York Rangers

Sacramento and Los Angeles Kings

Theres nothing really wrong with Bobcats, although it sounds like an Arena Football team or something.

The logo and colors are ok I suppose..
