Is this the Stinnett that was a Met like 12 years ago?

He's been on many teams... and yeah, I think the Mets were one of them.

Speaking of bad players..

Jason Romano is the worst player I've ever seen. EVER. EVER.

I don't know what the hell DanO was thinking when claming him from the Rays. We got Smitherman and hell, even Taylor is a better option than this loser. Yes. Reggie Freaking Taylor. I said it.

Bases loaded for Moises Alou with two down in the bottom of the eighth and they wisely bring in Valverde, the same guy who struck out the side in the ninth last night. I've gotta believe if they don't get it done here, they're down for another game.

.190/.241/.231/.472 in 147 AB. Oh, and he just struck out on 4 pitches 3 feet out of the zone with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th. Yeah, 3 feet out of the zone. I am freaking serious. I think he was closing his eyes.

Wilson is in the lead off spot for God knows what reason. He swings at the first pitch.

Way to make Zito work.

The Yankees sent Jose Contreras down to Single A. I assume its for extended Spring Training. No word on who will assume the fifth starter's role in his absence.

Read somewhere that the Blue Jays traded Bruce Chen to the Orioles. At the age of 27, Chen has now pitched in nine organizations.

Man, that's gotta be a nice kick in the jimmies for Contreras' ego. He didn't get sent to AAA, nor AA, but SINGLE A. Ouch, just ouch.

And thank God the bats finally woke up against that Indians pitching, but the funniest thing of the week has to be Jerry Remy operating one of the cameras (their booth at Jacobs is so bad that he and Don Orscillo have to have a cameraman between them) while Orscillo plays back-seat cameraman ("Shouldn't you zoom in more?" "That pan was good." "I think you should have someone in the shot) and annoys the hell out of Remy.

*Remembers '96 NLCS and chuckles* In fairness, he's not that bad.

Eh, we just need someone to keep it close for the bats and QuaFlashMo.

So, any of the other Cubs fans on the boards concerned about the Cubs anemic offense the last week and a half? Teams slump, yes, but it looks quite bad to be having trouble scoring a run less than two weeks after you were outscoring the opposition by a couple dozen. I expect the bats to wake up once it gets hot out, but relying on hitting homers is just setting yourself up for failure come postseason time.

Basically a dominican court order froze Mondesi's salary due to a court case. The Pirates had to put Mondesi's salary in escrow. That got cleared up, and the Bucs can pay Mondesi.

I think the Cub's little offensive rampage was due in part to some major ass wind at Wrigley. That said, the're better than the're playing right now and will inevitably get over it.

Oakland officially blows nuts. When does the fire sale start? Speaking for the Red Sox we'll give you several shitty prospects for Tim Hudson since your owners don't care. Its a very good deal

easy there.......they are 12-13......(soon to be 12-14) probably. It is early still. The one thing that is shocking me, is that it is the pitching that is blowing it. Something needs to be done about Arthur Rhodes, he is NOT closer material. But I am not worried about starting pitching. A lot of pitchers don't throw their best stuff early. Plus the A's have been in this situation the past four years, starting out crappy, with the summer months rebound. Who knows though.

That's some closer the A's have got there. Just when it looks like they're finally going to beat the Yanks, Rhodes blows the save on the first pitch of the inning and then gives up the lead. When you're a closer, having nearly 40 pitches in an inning isn't exactly a desirable trait.

And Ratings, I'll agree there that the Cubs' massive offensive outburst was helped because of the winds at Wrigley, but they've got the hitting to be getting at least five runs a game. They've been struggling to get two or three lately. Granted they've faced a lot of good pitching, but they've blown their fair share of scoring chances.
