I've only seen a limited amount of ECW shows. I've seen Hostile City Showdown from 1995, and several PPVs from 1999-2000. I've seen Wrestlepalooza 1997 as well. But besides that, I haven't seen much. So what are known as the best shows in ECW history? Does any of it hold up today?

Heatwave 98 for one.

Heck, that's about the only one.

I didn't care that much for Heatwave, couple good matches, otherwise boring show.

House Party 99 is a fun show

A Matter of Respect 96

Hostile City Showdown 96

Cyberslam 99 for Credible vs Douglas

Heatwave '98 was great live so it holds a special place in my heart. But that's me. I do recommend watching it at least once though. :)

What do people think of the House Party 99 match between Douglas and Taz?I thought it was really great, much better than a lot of stuff I've seen from either of those two....

IMO opinion Shane Douglas in early 1999 was really working hard for some reason, he had decent matches against Taz,Lynn and Credible.....

btw checkout

Ballroom Blitz- one night tag tournament

The Doctor is in- RVD vs Sabu- stretcher match

Hardcore Heaven 2000- not bad decent show....

My favorite ECW show, just because I was there first row. Great event, check it out.

Also...

Cyberslam 99 is an all-around great show with Rios/TAKA, Crazy/Mosco, a great Lynn/Tajiri match and a surprisingly awesome Credible/Douglas match.

You can't mention Hardcore Heaven without Tajiri/Corino. My respect for Corino shot through the roof after watching that match.

That match was definately sick and probably my favorite match I've seen live. Corino bled buckets and took a fucking sick double stomp through a table.

I actually liked there last PPV Guilty As Charged 2001 alot. Its a shame that it was the last one, I miss ECW so much. But yeah Heatwave 98 was probally the best one if for no other reason then RVD & Sabu vs. Hayabusa & Jensuki Sensaki....Is that spelled right probally not...oh well then...Hayabusa and Hicushi.

Barely Legal '97, Heatwave '98, Anarchy Rulz '99, and Guilty As Charged '01 were all released on DVD and are probably ECW's best all-around shows. I would suggest buying the compilation DVDs like Path of Destruction and Deep Impact, so many great matches are on those. Is that Steve Corino vs. Tajiri match from '00 and Steve Corino is busted early and bleeds buckets throughout the match? If so that match is great, and probably one of the best on my ECW '00 compilation.

It could be, although I imagine he bled buckets in all of the matches they had.

Hardcore Heaven 2000 is where he bleeds heavy. He works his ass off with blood just pouring out. And Tajiri's tree of woe face kick looks sick.

I really liked that show at the time. I loved Lynn/RVD, Corino/Tajiri, and Balls/Tanaka. Also a kinda fun Nova/Chetti spotfest, IIRC.

Most ECW commercial tapes irritate the shit out of me with the dubbed over music. But that said CyberSlam 96 is good for reasons outside the wrestling. The Brian Pillman debut was tremendous as was the Tommy Dreamer/Bruise Brothers angle.

N2R 95&96 have been good to me lately. 95 had Taz's heel turn, the Mexican Death Match, Sabu's (admitedly shabby) return and Tommy/Terry's insane brawl with Cactus and Raven.

96 had 2Cold's fucking boss obnoxious heel act. He didn't put over anyone gracefully and then put out a plug for SurvivorSeries the next night!

"See who my mystery partner will be! Tomorrow night in MSG."

It also had Taz killing Heyman's surprise by proclaiming thast ECW would have a "big show" in the first quarter of 97. Then he fucked 2Cold's credibility dead.

"Bye Bye FLASH!"

Perversely, I actually love N2R97. Pretty much all the matches sucked the meat missile(4 Way Dance, Dreamer/VanDam) but it also had the worst match of the century. Sabu/Sandman which was SO bad that at Living Dangerously98 they weren't allowed to wrestle live on PayPerView.

Barely Legal 97 is the only ECW show i've seen, but I thought it was a pretty good show for an indy promotion.
