Once again, last night only one show had a season finale.

EVERWOOD.

Raise your hand if you even watched it? I only knew about the damn thing from ANGEL commercials.

Does anyone honestly think EVERWOOD and part 1 of a 7th Heaven season finale had anything to do with that drop?

One person to blame- EUGENE!

Plus Raw sucked to the high heavens! I'm not the least bit surprised that nobody watched. Nobody gives a shit about wrestling. People want to see skits and promos. I hope they all learned their lessons- casual fans want to see promos not shitty wrestling!

Funny thing is that if this had happened last week, people would have been blaming Benoit. There are lots of possible reasons:

1) People were turned off after the 2 minute nonfinish opener.

2) After that match, none of the remaining advertised matches have any history of drawing, and the god-awful Edge-Orton match may have killed off more.

3) The show refocused on Shawn-HHH, a feud that has never drawn ratings of PPV buys since Summerslam 2002.

RAW had both of those.

Maybe they were all pissed that HBK got kicked off the show in the first 2 minutes, heh.

How was the show focused on someone that wasn't even there? Did HHH even come back out after that?

I would like to blame that ratings on the worst match of the night Edge vs Orton. It did have a good finish but it went on forever with the unorthodox restholds by Orton and the general lameness that is Edge.

Well no but the fact that HHH was announced as having a chance to face Benoit next week couldnt have helped the ratings.

I think some people tuned out because it looked like they were still bogged down with the Benoit/HBK/HHH feud. And let's be honest, HHH/HBK was tired back in January and it's still going on 4 months later.

I don't think so since Benoit wasn't even on the show, and HHH was MIA after the first quarter.

Maybe it's because no one cared about the ME?

Hey, our own review guy gave it ** 3/4. That's pretty much the same rating, and no one's indicted him yet.

Contrary to smark's belief, this goes to show you that wrasslin' doesn't equal ratings. It's time to bring back Stephanie McMahon!

Yes, because if 5 minutes of Batista/Tajiri does not draw, then BY GOD wrestling matches do not draw money AT ALL.

Quite like when Stephanie McMahon in the main event the week before drew a higher rating that the Kurt Angle/Brock Lesnar iron man match?

Following Meltzer's numbers in the last 6 months, the biggest ratings winners outside of Foley's first couple appearances were all the long matches. HHH-HBK, both Benoit-HBK matches....basically, any matches that were long main events (20+) did great gains in the ratings, even Orton-RVD. Get a clue.

WWE should sign Samoa Joe and American Dragon and let them main event Smackdown each and every week for 40 minutes! It'll be a surefire ratings draw!

It'd get more viewers than Big Show stalking Torrie (Worlds Worst Actor TM) for no reason. It'd get more viewers than Booker T going to a psychic and digging into a grave with no name. It'd get more viewers than BRADSHAW being a main eventer, with the basis of his push being he hates illegal immigrants.

It can carry over from last week though. The ME from last week made it look like we were getting Benoit/HBK/HHH till June and I think that makes a lot of people tune out because they've already spent $85 to see these guys feud and want something new. Plus they didn't really advertise anything interesting aside from Jericho/Christian in the cage. HHH/Shelton has happened before, Orton isn't a big draw and everyone knew Batista and Eugene were going to win this week.

I don't know about you guys but the arena for some reason was visually unappealing and it could have turned people off. I mean the entire 2nd deck was dark and it just looked weird. Plus the crowd sucked ass. I think that could have turned viewers off because for some reason even I wasn't into yesterday's show.

The crowd sucked ass? I thought they were very lively for a US crowd.

I guess that Bruce Mitchell may have had it right when he said on the WOL show that while everyone is talking about Smackdown's problems, he felt that when the HBK/HHH/Benoit feud ran its course that Raw would be in trouble as well.

How about the fact that it's spring, the weather is getting really nice on the east and in the midwest, it's daylight longer, people have spring activities (gardening, soccer, baseball, jogging, walking, etc) and not everyone is willing to drop everything to catch the first hour of Raw hence the low rating for hour 1?

From a wrestling perspective, my enthusiasm for the evening died down with the non finish in the Benjamin/HHH match. The action was good and then it was over just like that. Shelton disappeared and so did his push. Benjamin's two wins have done nothing to establish him as a top name because they've never given him the opportunity to get a character and personality over on top of the upset win. To be honest, he would have been better off working as a heel on Smackdown against Eddie despite the HHH rub.

I'm getting off subject though. I still think that the nicer the weather gets the less inclined people are to sit in front of a television. VCR's and Tivo were probably running, how does that get calculated into the ratings? I also agree with those who said the Edge/Orton match could have turned away some people in addition to the two segments featuring the completely unover women's division.
