Guest Trivia247 Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Thanks To Mike Sawyer for the following: Konnan is apparently working in TNA without a contract. He has been telling people that he plans to head over to the WWE in a couple weeks from now. There is also some talk of Eddie Guerrero being the one who is bringing him in to the WWE. The problem is that Vince McMahon doesn’t really like Konnan too much from something that happened a few years back. The only reason Vince would let Konnan in the WWE is because it’s apparently a favor to Eddie Guerrero. Many feel that Konnan is not ready for a run in the WWE, however according to Konnan he will be going there to work something out in the next couple weeks. Eddie Guerrero and Konnan both wrestled in Mexico around the same time period, they also wrestled in WCW in the same time period. They were both members of the WCW stable “The Filthy Animals” from late 1999 to early 2000, right before Eddie left WCW. Working without a contract in TNA means that he is under no obligation to continue working TNA shows for any certain amount of time. Him not having a contract with TNA means he is a free agent and that he can work pretty much anywhere he pleases. Konnan was a huge draw in WCW and is still a crowd pleaser in TNA.
Guest Loss Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Eddy Guerrero has the political pull to get slugs hired. Do you realize how AWESOME that is? Konnan is not much in the ring and annoys the hell out of me, but in their quest to draw more Latino viewers, I think he could be a big help.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 heh psicosis and La Parka! and the Latin Dean Malenko.. El Dandy!! Wasn't Konnan instrumental in bringing in the luchadors to the WCW? At least thats what they touted over.
dubq Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Eddy Guerrero was in the Filthy Animals? Wow, I really didn't pay attention to WCW back then, did I?
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Eddie wasn't. Hell, I think he was actually in the WWF/E by that point.
cabbageboy Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Eddie WAS in the Filthy Animals in late 1999, along with Rey, Konnan, and Kidman. This was during the goofy Russo "Powers That Be" angle. I remember Eddie stole Flair's watch.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 I'd rather see Hectoooooor Garza or Lateen Looover. Konan's schtick is old and that's his upside.
Guest SpiderFan Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Konnan is apparently working in TNA without a contract. He has been telling people that he plans to head over to the WWE in a couple weeks from now. Konnan could be bullshitting to try to get TNA to give him a contract.
hitman2003 Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Eddie wasn't. Hell, I think he was actually in the WWF/E by that point. Eddie returned from an injury the summer of 1999 and was a member of the Filthy Animals up until at least November. I seem to remember him and Kidman starting a feud over Torrie Wilson, but I could be wrong about that part. But he did team with Rey Mysterio and Kidman to take on Vamprio and The Insane Clown Posse at Road Wild and Fall Brawl that year.
Guest OldSchoolCarnage Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Wasn't Muta involved in the Filthy Animals/ICP angle too...or was that the Kiss Demon?
Guest Hot Ticket Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Wasn't Muta involved in the Filthy Animals/ICP angle too...or was that the Kiss Demon? later on....this was deadpool vs. filthy animals
Guest Stunt Granny Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 A yes Hector Garza, best know for tearing his scrotum in the ring.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 That'd be more entertaining than watching Konnan.
nl5xsk1 Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Maybe Konnan's going to get the Brian Christopher treatment ... brought back, jobbed out a few times, and then kicked back to the curb. If there was time before the PPV they could use him as a punching bag for JBL before the match with Guererro.
C Dubya 04 Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 I say just throw him on Smackdown. It can't get worse, and Konnan is at least interesting on the mic.
Guest JMA Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Isn't Mysterio also friends with Konnan? Could this be the forming of a backstage LATINO CLIQUE~!? ...maybe not.
Lil' Bitch Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 The problem is that Vince McMahon doesn’t really like Konnan too much from something that happened a few years back.
Jericholic82 Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 The heat between he and Vince goes back to the Max Moon character. I read an interview in WOW magazine about 3 years ago where Konnan said that he came up with the idea while in Japan and vince invested a lot of money into the costume and props. Konnan wound up leaving shortly after the debut of moon. Vince didn't give up on it and put Paul Diamond (Kato from the orient express v2.0) into the costume for awhile. So basically Vince was insulted when a project he invested into was ruined by Konnan. So I hope that explains it more for you guys. and yea eddie was with the FA's he didnt leave wcw till jan 2000 along with benoit, saturn, and malenko. The angle was basically dropped then since only konnan and rey remained with wcw.

He has been telling people that he plans to head over to the WWE in a couple weeks from now. Konnan could be bullshitting to try to get TNA to give him a contract. Nope. I'm sure TNA has offered him a contract multiple times by now, as even guys like David Young and Johnny Swinger are under some sort of contract at this point.
notJames Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Konnan is as useful as that extraneous "N" he puts in his name. The Jarretts can keep his monkey ass.
Zack Malibu Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 and yea eddie was with the FA's he didnt leave wcw till jan 2000 along with benoit, saturn, and malenko. The angle was basically dropped then since only konnan and rey remained with wcw. The Filthy Animals came back when Russo/Bischoff returned to power. That time around was Konnan, Rey, Juvi, Tyrgress and Disco Inferno (then going by Disqo). That was when Muta/Vampiro feuded with them. Also led to some politicking by Kronik, as they didn't want to drop the tag belts to Rey/Juvi, so dropped them to Muta/Vamp to transition them to the Animals.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Filthy Animals had the best entrance in the ending days of WCW. The large sheet thing with their silouettes and then the sheet dropping. I would tune into Smackdown again more often to see the Filthy Animals rehashed. Towards the end it was basically Konnan just managing Rey and Kidman's tag team. Would anybody truly be opposed to Konnan managing since he's good on the mic? Of course they have to bring in Da Juice as well to just complete it but hell, Filthy Animals reunion(minus Eddie since a face champ in a stable looks weak) intrigues me.
Gert T Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Yes Vince should be very mad, at spending money on the Max Moon outfit. Konnan will be on SD! as Eddie's cousin, Stale Guerrero. But to see him get beat up by Bradshaw, why not? Better him than El Gran Luchador.
Guest PowerPB13 Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Why? WHY? Well, DUH. Who do you think's gonna main-event the July Smackdown PPV? -Patrick
Lil' Bitch Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Who do you think's gonna main-event the July Smackdown PPV? And we still have June to get through.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Instead of bringing in Konnan, why not, I dunno, PUSH REY. Y'know, instead of having him be jobber to the big guys?
reign Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Like it or not if Konnan came in the SD! fans would probably love the guy..most fans don't see his in ring work as being bad because he can get over on the mike and the fans who don't whatch TNA would remember K-Dog from the WolfPac and mark out...if he comes in he needs to get in shape and lose the "gansta" get up and go back to the gear he wore back in Mexico and what he wore when he first came in to WCW
Guest Jimbo Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Who okay'd this? Goddamnit, can't the WWE every bring in ANYONE good? Seriously, they either get bums like Heidenreich or Cade or old people like Luger and Konnan. And on the chance that they do accidentaly get someone good, they are always sure to correct their "mistake" and kill the poor guy! *slams head into wall*
tekcop Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 Like it or not if Konnan came in the SD! fans would probably love the guy..most fans don't see his in ring work as being bad because he can get over on the mike and the fans who don't whatch TNA would remember K-Dog from the WolfPac and mark out...if he comes in he needs to get in shape and lose the "gansta" get up and go back to the gear he wore back in Mexico and what he wore when he first came in to WCW His old costume wouldn't really hide how out of shope he's gotten compared to what he used to look like. I was watching some AAA TV from '94 and he looked roided as all hell.
